Playoff Upsets Draft - R1 - GeorgeMarcus vs Dr Positivity

Post#1 » by durantbird » Yesterday 6:39 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

GL GeorgeMarcus

Defensive matchups: Williams on Doncic, Paul on Caruso, Allen on Redd, Lebron on Draymond, Embiid on Mutombo

GM has a nice team but a lot of players specializing on either offensvie or defensive end, and we will take advantage of that. We can switch JDub onto Doncic without much punishment in the other matchups, and Lebron is relatively rested against Draymond and be a good help defender off him. We will target that he has both Doncic and Redd on defense as our 1-4 re all competent offensively and can score against them on switches. Mutombo should do well against Embiid. Doncic and Embiid both like to have the ball while Lebron and Paul should lead to more free flowing offense. His bench is great but ours is pretty solid too and I believe a young raw version of Derrick Jones is a weak link compared to our 8th man 2024 Braun.

Starting Lineup
21 Joel Embiid ~ 17.6 FGA ~ NBA2, DEF2, MVP-2, DPOY-7
22 Draymond Green ~ 5.6 FGA ~ AS, DEF2, DPOY-10
04 Michael Redd ~ 17.5 FGA ~ NBA3, MVP-14
23 Alex Caruso ~ 4.3 FGA ~ DEF1, DPOY-11
21 Luka Doncic ~ 20.5 FGA ~ NBA1, MVP-6

Bench
19 Derrick Jones Jr ~ 5.4 FGA
97 Chris Mullin ~ 10.0 FGA ~ League Leader in eFG%
10 Jason Kidd ~ 8.4 FGA ~ AS

87.9/88 FGA

Rotation
Embiid (38) / Draymond (10)
Draymond (28) / DJJ (10) / Mullin (10)
Redd (33) / Mullin (15)
Caruso (25) / Kidd (23)
Luka (38) / Kidd (10)

Write-Up
Primary Defensive Assignments:
Embiid --> Mutombo
Draymond/DJJ --> LeBron
Luka/Mullin --> J Dub
Redd/Kidd --> Ray
Caruso/Kidd --> CP3

Match-up specific, our goal is to disrupt offensive flow by harassing the point of attack (presumably Paul & LeBron) early and often. Caruso and Kidd are well suited for the job.

Offensively, Luka/Embiid will lead the charge in the scoring department with Redd/Mullin as strong secondary options (not to mention elite floor spacers). Bringing veteran AS Kidd off the bench ensures a constant dose of intelligent playmaking, and at this point in his career he had also become a reliable off ball factor with a greatly improved 3pt shot. Our depth as a whole is a major strength for us.

Embiid's skillset should undermine Mutombo's strengths to an extent but more importantly, Luka should be able to use his size against J Dub or any other wing defender thrown at him. At this stage in LeBron's career, it wouldn't be smart for him to take on that assignment either.

GL Dr P and great team!
