1980s All-stars Draft R1 - MadNESS vs Larry_Russell

Post#1 » by Dr Positivity » Yesterday 5:37 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Doug Christie (34) | George Gervin (14)
SG: George Gervin (24) | Bruce Bowen (24)
SF: Julius Erving (38) | Bruce Bowen (6) | PJ Tucker (4)
PF: Charles Barkley (41) | PJ Tucker (7)
Cc: Robert Parish (30) | Bill Walton (18)

80’-81’ Julius Erving 18.6 FGA MVP | All NBA 1
88’-89’ Charles Barkley 15.3 All NBA 1 | MVP (6)
80’-81’ George Gervin 21.1 FGA All NBA 1 | MVP (5)
02’-03’ Bruce Bowen 5.8 FGA 44% 3’s | All NBA D
02’-03’ Doug Christie 7.0 FGA 40% 3’s | All NBA D
22’-23’ PJ Tucker 3.0 FGA 3 & D
85’-86’ Bill Walton 5.1 FGA 6MOTY | Champ
85’-86’ Robert Parish 11.9 FGA Champ | All Star

Total: 87.8 | 88.0 FGA

Gervin will be the primary ball handler, with him Dr. J and Barkley we have a 3 headed monster on offense. It will be very hard for any team to defend this big 3 effectively. We surrounded those 3 with guys who can defend and shoot. Christie and Bowen (even Tucker) are elite 3 & D players. Bill Walton off the bench is huge as a passer. Parish holds down the middle, and fits pretty well with Barkley up front. Overall, we push the pace, try to score in high numbers, and defend where we can with our roles players.

VS. LR

Barkley on Dantley
Dr. J on Bane
Christie / Bowen on Magic
Gervin on Harper
Parish / Walton on Turner

I’m sure LR wants to run. We want to run also. This could turn into a track meet and we’re okay with that. We can run with the best of them.

I don’t think defensively anyone in this draft can handle the Gervin, Dr. J and Barkley trio.

We have 3 MVP caliber players to LR’s 1.

We have 2 guys to throw at Magic.
