2010s Draft - Semi - Dr Positivity* vs Snakebites

Post#1 » by durantbird » Sun Sep 21, 2025 6:12 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

C: Nikola Jokic (2019: 15.1 FGA)

PG/SG: Patty Mills (2013: 4.2 FGA)

PF/C: David West (2017: 3.7 FGA)

87.1 / 88

PG: Derrick Rose (38) / Patty Mills (10)
SG: Ray Allen (36) / Patty Mills (6) / Joe Ingles (6)
SF: Paul George (38) / Joe Ingles (10)
PF: Pascal Siakam (38) / Joe Ingles (6) / David West (4)
C: Nikola Jokic (38) / David West (10)

GL Snakebites

Defensive matchups: Rose on Lowry, Allen on Oladipo, George on Butler, Siakam on Dirk, Jokic on Gasol

Both teams have 5 all-stars in their starting lineup but our team has a better balance of skills from the post play/passing of Jokic, athletic slashing of Rose, shooting of Allen, two way wing play of George and Siakam playing like a better Gordon on offense, while Oladipo and Butler offensive games have some overlap, Oladipo in this Pacers season was not sharing the ball with another wing like he is here. We are overall more dangerous on offense with an MVP perimeter player beside our superstar big. We have credible defenders at the right places to put size on Butler in George and an above average defensive PF in Siakam on Dirk. The benches are fairly close as his perimeter backups may be slightly better but I'd rather have West's minutes than Bonner who we will target when he's in.

PG: Kyle Lowry 18-19 11.4 FGA- All Star
SG: Victor Oladipo 17-18 17.9 FGA- All NBA 3rd, All Defensive 1st
SF: Jimmy Butler 17-18 15.6 FGA All NBA 2nd, All Defensive 2nd
PF: Dirk Nowitzki 10-11 16.2 FGA- FMVP, All NBA 2nd
C: Marc Gasol 12-13 10.9 FGA- All NBA 2nd, DPOY

B: Patrick Beverly 18-19 6.1 FGA
B: PJ Tucker 17-18 5.4 FGA
B: Matt Bonner 12-13 3.4 FGA

Gasol (38)/Bonner (10)
Dirk (38)/Tucker (10)
Butler (38)/Tucker (10)
Oladipo (38)/Beverley (10)
Lowry (38)/Beverley (10)

Alrighty let’s do this.

I’ll make a bold claim and argue that mine is the most complete team in this game- that I have All Stars at every starting position and enough two way talent to not have obvious defensive weaknesses. Even this version of Dirk was a reasonable defender.

Dr P on the other hand has built an offensive powerhouse of a starting lineup with weaknesses on the defensive end and off the bench, where he spent meagerly.

The backcourt of Derrick Rose and older Ray Allen is exploitable, particularly with Jokic down low. And I’ve got a crafty set of high IQ playmakers to poke holes in it. I see Butler running a lot of two man action with Dirk and Gasol, and neither Lowry nor Dipo have a capable defender who matches up well with them.

Mills/young Ingles/old West is a relatively weak bench in comparison to mine, where Beverley and Tucker are both versatile and capable, and provide me with more defenders to throw at his admittedly formidable perimeter group.

Note that Ray, Jokic and PG are not in prime seasons.

Voted Snake. The downgrades for Dr P (Jokic, Allen, George, even Siakam) decided this for me

Looking like it’ll be tough to pull this one out.

I did/do believe this was a team that could go the distance.

My names weren’t as sexy but I had a better defense and everyone is in a prime season.
