Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Gary Payton (1996: 15.8 FGA) - Thunder/Sonics
SG: Manu Ginobili (2007: 11.4 FGA) - All-star turned bench
SF: Danny Green (2020: 7.0 FGA) - Lakers
PF: Carmelo Anthony (2009: 18.3 FGA) - Nuggets
C: Hakeem Olajuwon (1993: 19.5 FGA) - Rockets

PG/SG: Charlie Ward (2001: 6.1 FGA) - Knicks
SF: Otto Porter (2022: 6.6 FGA) - 3rd pick
C: Joel Przybilla (2009: 3.3 FGA) - Blazers

88 / 88

PG: Gary Payton (40) / Charlie Ward (8)
SG: Manu Ginobili (28) / Charlie Ward (20)
SF: Otto Porter (16) / Danny Green (28) / Manu Ginobili (4)
PF: Carmelo Anthony (38) / Otto Porter (14)
C: Hakeem Olajuwon (38) / Joel Przybilla (10)

Defensive matchups: Payton on Penny, Manu on Battier, Melo on old Pippen, Porter on Towns to start with some Melo minutes, Hakeem on Shaq

We have pretty solid matchup with Hakeem and Payton to play Shaq and Penny combo, and while Towns is still big for Porter, we also get some benefit from Towns having to guard 3pt line. Towns as the other big beside Shaq/Penny combo leaves him as a bit vulnerable on D despite the solid wings. We have a high quality mix of role players in Green, Porter and Ward and even though he has the more talented bench Harden minutes beside Penny and another playmaker in Iguodala has some diminishing returns compared to our spot up shooters. 09 Melo is his best playoff run and was leader of a genuine contender in my opinion, and playing beside Payton, Manu and Hakeem is a good spot for him.

PG - Penny Hardaway (36) / James Harden (12)
SG - Shane Battier (30) / James Harden (18)
SF - Scottie Pippen (20) / Andre Iguodala (28)
PF - Karl-Anthony Towns (36) / Scottie Pippen (12)
C - Shaquille Oneal (38) / Timofey Mozgov (10)

2011-12 James Harden (OKC) - 10.1 fga
1999-00 Shaquille O’Neal (Lakers) - 21.1 fga
2008-09 Shane Battier (Houston) - 5.9 fga
2016-17 Andre Iguodala (Allstar turned bench) - 5.5 fga
1995-96 Penny Hardaway (3rd overall) - 14.8 fga
2024-25 Karl-Anthony Towns (NYK) - 16.9 fga
1999-00 Scottie Pippen (Trailblazers) - 10.5 fga
2012-13 Timofey Mozgov (Denver) - 3 fga

87.8/88 fga

I think my mix of inside dominance, defensive versatility, and bench firepower overwhelms Payton/Hakeem/Melo over the course of this series. Shaq at his 2000 peak is nearly unstoppable in the paint, even for Hakeem, forcing double-teams that open up the floor for Pennys playmaking and KATs perimeter shooting. Scottie and Battier give me two elite wing defenders who can contain Melo and Manu , cutting off much of Dr Ps perimeter creation. While Payton and Hakeem anchor a tough defense, they can’t carry the scoring load alone with Pippen hounding Melo into inefficient looks.
I think the benches tilt the matchup here too. James Harden is instant offense and playmaking while Penny/Pippen sit and Iggy provides more elite wing defense.

Defensively Penny on Payton, Battier on Manu, KAT on Green, Pippen on Melo, Shaq on Hakeem.
