Distinct Drafts Draft - Play in - Larry_Russell vs wackbone

Post#1 » by durantbird » Yesterday 11:29 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Trae Young - 2022 - 20.3 FGA
Joel Embiid - 2021 - 17.6 FGA
Klay Thompson - 2015 - 16.9 FGA
Lu Dort - 2025 - 8.4 FGA
OG Anunoby - 2020 - 8.2 FGA
Obi Toppin - 2024 - 7.1 FGA
Alex Caruso - 2025 - 5.8 FGA
Kevon Looney - 2024 - 3.1 FGA
Total: 87.4/88 FGA

Rotations:
Trae Young (38) / Alex Caruso (10)
Klay Thompson (26) / Alex Caruso (22)
Lu Dort (32) / Klay Thompson (12) / OG Anunoby (4)
OG Anunoby (28) / Obi Toppin (20)
Joel Embiid (38) / Kevon Looney (10)

Writeup:
Helluva team, Larry, best of luck!

Defensively we will start with Trae on DFS, Klay on Curry, Dort on Oladipo, Anunoby on Tatum, and Embiid on KP. DFS is not a huge factor offensively so we will hide Trae on him. Klay starts on Curry but Caruso will see significant time on him as well. Dort is our best physical matchup for Oladipo, matching size/speed/strength. Same for Anunoby on Tatum.

Our offense is centered around the Trae-Embiid two man game, with Klay as an elite third option, and Dort/Anunoby/Caruso/Toppin/Looney as an elite supporting cast. As good of a defender as he is, KP is a bit thin at the waist to be guarding Embiid. Not the same player but I went to an OKC at PHI game last year and OKC didn't have Chet guarding Embiid the entire game, but instead relied on Jaylin Williams. My assumption would be this was largely due to the massive weight/strength edge that Embiid has over Chet, regardless of the latter's defensive prowess. I anticipate a similar thing here, but the difference is KP is Larry's full time center and has no choice but to guard Embiid. So Embiid is going to apply pressure inside while Trae applies pressure outside, alongside a plethora of sharpshooters including Klay/Dort/OG/Caruso/Toppin.

Our offense has a more clear identity whereas Larry's is moreso individual pieces with Curry/Oladipo/Tatum all preferring to be the primary ball-handler (even if all can play off ball to varying degrees).
