SoCal Draft - R1 - Larry_Russell vs MadNess

Post#1 » by durantbird » Yesterday 11:26 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

88/88

This sucks....I genuinely feel we have two of the better teams.

Defense:

Lets go with West on SGA - West might have some of the best hands defensively of any guard EVER, and has elite defensive IQ that will prevent him biting on shot fakes. Endless hustle and footwork will allow him to stay on SGA right hip all game forcing him left. West was also very strong and wont get bullied by SGA

Luka will get tucked away on Christie - Not really an offensive threat that lets me hide Luka the most.

RoCo on Hill - Elite defender with a 7-2 wingspan and high iq and great positional footwork. About as perfect a defender for Hill as you can be, also an elite help and recover defender who can jump into passing lines, help cut off all the SGA drives and recover back to Hill as Grant is NOT a three point threat at all. RoCo will hedge on drives and recover with a pass should it come from SGA to Hill.

Davis on McAdoo - Size, speed, athleticism and ELITE help and recover rim protector/rebounder. AD is an elite defender and can really swallow up McAdoo.

Lopez on Wilt - no one can stop Wilt, but at least Lopez has great shot blocking instincts and great size to contest him down low

My bench does not lose any defensive prowess with Harper, Mbah a Moute and Hartenstein subbing in. Harper is a big strong lead guard defender who will be able to give great minutes against SGA and Luc brings a similar, but lesser version of RoCo as well.

Offense:

Spread them out baby!

I dont think there is anyone that can really contain the Luka / West tandem in my backcourt. If Christie or SGA is matched against West I dont think either can defend him straight up, it will require help as West is going to be an off ball or on ball movement monster through screens. West is lightning quick and Christie, although an elite defensive guard, is better suited to strong guards, not fast ones. West is Christie Kryptonite defensively.

Luka/Lopez pick and pop - Whoever it is guarding Luka, they just do not have the correct setup to contain Luka in these situation. Christie is too small (post up_, SGA gives up size and isnt a great screen navigator (run West/Luka side screens and post ups) and hill is too slow and too big to navigate screens (pick and roll). This is an offensive play that I can exploit.

AD iso on the block - This is massive in my advantage here. McAdoo just cannot guard AD here and will be in foul trouble early as was his Achilles heel defending larger bigmen than him.

Wilt in no mans land - Wilt is an at the rim player, an at the rim defender. Lopez will be spreading out the entire time and if wilt comes out to defend we can look to exploit that and if he stays at the rim, Brook can rain unguarded threes.

And Covington is a great offball mover and 3pt shooter who can take advantage of sagging defenses or overhelping defenses by cutting or spotting up.

I don't lose any offensive punch with Harper off the bench, who was a 20ppg scorer prior joing the Bulls where he focused on becoming a role player as opposed to a scorer and Mbah a Moute who also is a 3pt shooter/cutter like RoCo

PG: SGA (38) | Shaun Livingston (10)
SG: Doug Christie (36) | Brent Barry (12)
SF: Grant Hill (40) | Dennis Rodman (8)
PF: Bob McAdoo (40) | Dennis Rodman (8)
Cc: Wilt Chamberlain (44) | Dennis Rodman (4)

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

66’-67’ Wilt Chamberlain 12.1 FGA (.85) MVP | Champion
24’-25’ SGA 21.8 FGA MVP | Score Champ
73’-74’ Bob McAdoo 19.0 FGA (.85) MVP (2) | Score Champ
96’-97’ Grant Hill 15.7 FGA All NBA 1 | MVP (3)
02’-03’ Doug Christie 7.0 FGA All NBA D 1 | 40% 3’s
93’-94’ Dennis Rodman 3.7 FGA All NBA D 2 | RPG Champ
05’-06’ Brent Barry 4.7 FGA 40% 3’s
18’-19’ Shaun Livingston 3.3 FGA

Total: 87.3 | 88.0 FGA

GL LR!

Plan to give the ball early and often to Wilt.
Lopez cannot defend him. No one can.

We match his perimeter star power of Luka and West with SGA and Grant Hill.

Everyone forgets how good Grant Hill was.

Every player on our roster is an above average defender to a great defender, no weak links.

Christie on Luka, Hill on West. SGA saves himself for offense. McAdoo on AD, SGA on Cov.

I have 3 MVP’s on my roster. Plain and simple.

Rodman off the bench with Barry and Livingston is nice.

My big 4 is the best in this draft! Vote NESS.

I don't agree with the criticisms of West/Doncic fit in the other thread but I think using 24 Davis hurts here
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change
