SoCal Draft - Semi - MadNess vs Laimbeer

Post#1 » by durantbird » Sat Nov 29, 2025 6:03 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Bill Walton ( 1977 ) 14.3
Karl Malone ( 1993 ) 17.6
PJ Tucker ( 2023 ) 3.0
Kobe Bryant ( 2008 ) 20.6
Mitch Richmond (1996) 16.9

Bo Outlaw ( 2002 ) 3.6
Jared Dudley ( 2015 ) 5.9
Patrick Beverley ( 2019 ) 6.1

88.0

Bill Walton (38) / Bo Outlaw (8) / Karl Malone (2)
Karl Malone (38) / PJ Tucker (10)
PJ Tucker (26) / Jared Dudley (22)
Kobe Bryant (38) / Patrick Beverley (10)
Mitch Richmond (38) / Patrick Beverley (10)

Richmond is a capable ball handler and brings the ball up, then lets Kobe and Walton orchestrate the offense. Malone and Richmond were elite off-ball players and should make this offense more than a handful.

Chamberlain, McAdoo, and Hill are all high-usage and ball-dominant. They did a lot of iso and posting up, and provide no spacing or off-ball movement. SGA is a mid-range player who needs the ball as well. It looks like a lot of congestion in a "my turn" type of offense with four guys believing they need the ball and none of them playing off it very well.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
