Re: Trade Tournament Time
Hopefully all the participants/judges are still active (although there's a good chance this is not the case).
To start, the 12 participants will be cut down to 8. In addition, the remaining 8 will be seeded 1-8.
To do this, all participants need to post one trade by 10:00 P.M. Eastern Time on May 22, 2009. The draft lottery will have taken place by that time, so, if you post your trade before then, be sure to edit it (if applicable).
Remember to use salaries for the 2009-2010 season. For the purpose of this game, please use those listed by ShamSports.com. It's up to the individual participants to decide whether certain players will opt in or not and how much free agents will make, but keep in mind that the trades will be judged on their feasibility. ALL TRADES MUST WORK UNDER THE CBA!
The judges will then grade the trades on:
Feasibility - Does the proposal work under the CBA? Are these players "available"? Do the incoming/outgoing contracts reflect each team's financial plan?
Effectiveness - Does the proposal satisfy the needs of all teams involved? Does its sheer size hinder its usefulness?
Originality - Have we seen this proposal dozens of times on the boards already?
I will also try to post this on the regular trades and transactions board, because that page gets a lot more traffic.

Just so I am clear, you want just any trade between any two teams without giving a scenario? And this should be posted on this thread, correct?

Yes, that is correct. although it can be more than two teams. And I may extend the deadline if there is very little action.

Since it looks like I'll certainly have to move the deadline back (plus I still have to post this on the regular trades and transactions and board...forgot to do that!), I can't give an exact date. But I'd estimate around 3 days after the trades have to be up, so probably sometime near the end of May.

Re: Trade Tournament Time
Here's mine:
Timberwolves Trade
Mike Miller (exp)
Mark Madsen (exp)
#18 pick in the 2009 Draft (from Miami)
#28 pick in the 2009 Draft (from Boston)
NY Knicks Trade
Larry Hughes (exp)
#8 pick in the 2009 Draft
Why for the Wolves
They currently have three picks in this draft, plus a couple of second rounders and a fairly full roster. They need to consolidate. This allows them to consolidate both expirings and picks, essentially turning 4 players into 2. Hughes will be a more aggressive scorer than Miller was, if less inclined to pass...
Why for the Knicks
This is a deep draft, and the difference between the #8 and the #18 is debatable, plus they pick up the #28 to take a late-round flyer. Miller will fit D'Antoni's system well (he was probably the best passer on the Wolves last year, he can hit the 3, and he has Steve Nash's hair), and isn't the head case that Hughes is.
Based on Chad Ford's rankings, and the newly announced draft order, rosters could look like this:
Knicks draft BJ Mullens (#18) and Wayne Ellington (#28)
1 - Duhon/Richardson
2 - Miller/Wayne Ellington
3 - Chandler/Jeffries
4 - Harrington/Madsen
5 - Lee (resigned)/BJ Mullens
Minnesota drafts Tyreke Evans (#6) and Demar DeRozan (#8)
1 - Telfair/Tyreke Evans
2 - Foye/Hughes/Demar DeRozan
3 - Gomes/Brewer
4 - Jefferson/Smith
5 - Love/Jefferson
EDITED 5/26/09 - Removed Calathes as he's more likely to go #31 than #28, now that he's signed in Greece. Almost certainly makes him the #31 pick, so that he can be stashed. Instead, the Knicks could take Wayne Ellington or AJ Price. Let's say Ellington, just for fun.

Re: Trade Tournament Time
Ok here it goes...this is basically combining a lot of rumors into one big trade
LA Clippers trade:
C Chris Kaman ($10,400,000)
PG Baron Davis ($12,100,000)
C Marcus Camby ($9,650,000)
($32,150,000 out)
LA Clippers receive:
PG Kirk Hinrich ($9,500,000)
PF/C Jermaine O'neal ($23,016,000)
2010 MIA 1st Rd pick
($32,516,000 in)
The Clippers lose out on production this year to cut salary, which is a step in their rebuild...they dont dump Z-Bo, but that will be extremely difficult...Hinrich and Jermaine are still very good players who can come in and start for them so they are not losing that much productivity
Hinrich/Gordon/Thornton/Griffin/O'Neal
That's a decent young starting lineup with Deandre Jordan coming off the bench, they are beginning to build a nice core
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chicago Bulls trade:
PG Kirk Hinrich ($9,500,000)
2009 CHI 1st Rd pick #26
Chicago Bulls receive:
($9,500,000 out)
C Chris Kaman ($10,400,000)
($10,400,000 in)
This has been talked about a lot lately, as the Bulls hand over the reigns to Derrick Rose, while adding the post presence that they have so sorely lacked the past few years...not a huge move, and adds a little bit of salary, but i think improving Chicago's inside game is very important
Rose/Gordon/Deng/Thomas/Kaman
They still have Salmons/Miller/Noah/#16 which is a very solid bench...at #16 they could draft a backup PG like Maynor or Teague or a SF like James Johnson or Terence Williams
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toronto Raptors trade:
PF Chris Bosh ($15,779,912)
($15,779,912 out)
Toronto Raptors receive:
SF/PF Michael Beasley ($4,638,600)
C Mark Blount ($7,967,375)
SG Daequan Cook ($1,362,120)
2009 CHI 1st Rd Pick #26
($13,968,095 in)
I'm not sure how Toronto would feel about this deal, but if they don't feel as if they can re-sign Bosh, getting Beasley might be a good alternative...maybe they should be getting a little bit more in the deal, but they do get cap savings with Blount, a nice young SG in Cook, a 1st rder, albeit late, and a young possible stud in Beasley
Calderon/Parker/Marion/Beasley/Bargnani
The Raptors draft Earl Clark at #9 and Gani Lawal at #26 to round out the roster
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miami Heat trade:
PF/C Jermaine O'neal ($23,016,000)
SF/PF Michael Beasley ($4,638,600)
C Mark Blount ($7,967,375)
SG Daequan Cook ($1,362,120)
2010 MIA 1st Rd Pick
($36,984,095 out)
Miami Heat receive:
PF Chris Bosh ($15,779,912)
PG Baron Davis ($12,100,000)
C Marcus Camby ($9,650,000)
($37,529,912 in)
Miami goes all out to win now...they probably wont have enough money to re-sign Bosh, Wade, and Camby so they gear up to win a championship next year, and they might have the team to do it
Davis/Wade/Jones/Bosh/Camby
I don't know if one ball will be enough for that team, and they still have Haslem/Chalmers and a few others coming off the bench
All in all, i tried to combine a few small ideas that have been discussed on the boards into a large one that hopefully benefits all teams involved

Re: Trade Tournament Time
My trade is between the Bucks, Mavericks, and Rockets.
Milwaukee Bucks trade:
Michael Redd, Francisco Elson (note: Elson has a PO, which he will probably pick up. I substituted Joe Alexander in the Trade Checker to make the trade work.)
Milwaukee Bucks get:
Erik Dampier, Jerry Stackhouse, Shawne Williams
The Bucks get enough cap space to retain their pick and re-sign both Sessions and Villanueva. Jerry Stackhouse has only $2 million guaranteed, so they will get nearly $5 million extra space, and Dampier and Williams' contracts expire in 2010.
Dallas Mavericks trade:
Erik Dampier, Jerry Stackhouse, Shawne Williams
Dallas Mavericks get:
Tracey McGrady
The Mavericks take a risk on T-Mac. They have to take on a lot of salary but Cuban is willing to spend for a championship. If they can re-sign Kidd and look for a C via the MLE and the draft, they can possibly do some damage in the coming season, while still being players in the 2010 free aganet bonanza.
Houston Rockets trade:
Tracey McGrady
Houston Rockets get:
Michael Redd, Francisco Elson
Houston trades McGrady for a perimeter scorer who requires less maintenance. Rick Adelman does an excellent job of opening shooters in his offense (i.e. Peja). They also get a backup C.

Re: Trade Tournament Time
LAC, Golden State, and Memphis
Clippers out: #1 pick (Griffin), Baron Davis ($12.1M)
Clippers in: #2 pick (Rubio), Rudy Gay, Jamal Crawford (total $12.7M)
GS out: Jamal Crawford, Corey Maggette (total $18.1M)
GS in: Baron Davis, Marko Jaric (total $19.2M)
Memphis out: #2 pick (Rubio), Rudy Gay, Marko Jaric (total $10.4M)
Memphis in: #1 pick (Griffin), Corey Maggette ($8.9M)
Memphis has cap space to absorb the additional salary
Why for Clippers: They're not going to get value for Kaman or Randolph, so taking Griffin leaves them overloaded with expensive front-court talents and stuck with the unhappy Davis for four more years. They acquire both Rubio and Rudy Gay.
Kaman / Camby / Gay / E. Gordon / Rubio
Why for GS: Discussed a zillion times on these boards. They have to swallow Jaric in order to accomplish what they want, getting Davis and getting rid of their wing overload.
Biedrins / A. Randolph or B. Wright / S. Jackson / Ellis / Davis
Why for Memphis: Griffin is the guy they need; they pay a heavy price but this is the best lineup they can hope for, and they move out Jaric along the way.
Gasol / Griffin / Maggette / Mayo / Conley
Also posting this on the trade board for reactions. And, if there's enough participation to continue this game, I strongly recommend scenarios for the next round.

Yo change the 28th pick because Nick just signed with a Euro team so I doubt he'll come to the NBA. The rest of it is a pretty good trade. Nice workChazzleDazzle wrote:Here's mine:

They still have Salmons/Miller/Noah/#16 which is a very solid bench...at #16 they could draft a backup PG like Maynor or Teague or a SF like James Johnson or Terence Williams
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toronto Raptors trade:
PF Chris Bosh ($15,779,912)
($15,779,912 out)
Toronto Raptors receive:
SF/PF Michael Beasley ($4,638,600)
C Mark Blount ($7,967,375)
SG Daequan Cook ($1,362,120)
2009 CHI 1st Rd Pick #26
($13,968,095 in)
I'm not sure how Toronto would feel about this deal, but if they don't feel as if they can re-sign Bosh, getting Beasley might be a good alternative...maybe they should be getting a little bit more in the deal, but they do get cap savings with Blount, a nice young SG in Cook, a 1st rder, albeit late, and a young possible stud in Beasley
Calderon/Parker/Marion/Beasley/Bargnani
The Raptors draft Earl Clark at #9 and Gani Lawal at #26 to round out the roster

Miami Heat trade:
PF/C Jermaine O'neal ($23,016,000)
SF/PF Michael Beasley ($4,638,600)
C Mark Blount ($7,967,375)
SG Daequan Cook ($1,362,120)
2010 MIA 1st Rd Pick
($36,984,095 out)
Miami Heat receive:
PF Chris Bosh ($15,779,912)
PG Baron Davis ($12,100,000)
C Marcus Camby ($9,650,000)
($37,529,912 in)
Miami goes all out to win now...they probably wont have enough money to re-sign Bosh, Wade, and Camby so they gear up to win a championship next year, and they might have the team to do it
Davis/Wade/Jones/Bosh/Camby
I don't know if one ball will be enough for that team, and they still have Haslem/Chalmers and a few others coming off the bench
All in all, i tried to combine a few small ideas that have been discussed on the boards into a large one that hopefully benefits all teams involved
I hate this trade from a Raps perspective. Miami makes out like bandits. Don't like this trade idea

Re: Trade Tournament Time
This trade makes a lot of sense for each teams but I am not so sure about the T-Mac part. All in all it is a pretty good trade idearealball wrote:My trade is between the Bucks, Mavericks, and Rockets.

This is an amazing trade idea. All sides should accept. Nice work

Re: Trade Tournament Time
Simple, easy, to the point.
Golden State Warriors send Marco Belinelli and 2010 second round pick to Philadelphia 76ers for Jason Smith.
Warriors relieve the SG glut to get a big man who can shoot. He is coming off an injury, so he is a risk, but worth the gamble for a team in need of size and rebounding.
Ellis/Watson
Jackson/Morrow
Magette/Azubuike
Randolph/Wright
Beidrins/Turiaf
With Brand coming back, Speights coming on, Evans under contract and Young playing the 4 in small ball, there will not be much opportunity for Smith to play. The desperately need shooting and back court help. Belinelli shot .397 from 3 and significantly improved his all around game. He started to really come on last year and posesses the ball handing and passing skills to work in the same back court as either Lou Williams or Andre Iguodola.
Miller/Williams
Iggy/Belinelli
Young/Iggy
Brand/Evans
Dalembert/Speights

That is not a good trade. I have no clue why GS would do that. They could get a better deal for Marco
