Yeah, we need to do better than that.

tkb said he'd take a look and possibly vote on the matchups . . . that will give us a tiebreaker (for rules mavens . . . I adopt whatever he says as my vote)

Reading and voting now. Sorry, holiday weekend had me off guard.

Random side-note...I'm not sure I've ever voted against mods in two match-ups.

I suppose we can call it now apprehensive though I am about doing it with so few votes.

Yeah 3 votes doesn't seem like a big enough sample size, but I'm fine with the results :) no qualms about waiting for a couple more votes though.

^I'd feel less apprehensive about it if there were 3-0 votes in there, but everybody's got at least one vote.

Send out some PMs, perhaps? People who disappear after they're eliminated don't rate highly on my list for future events.

^Unfortunately that'd be just about everybody in this one.

:(

I'll see what I can do but I'm not really willing to prolong this much longer.

For 75, I will try to write up a rule twist to avoid the issue of only 3 voters staying strong to the end.

Definitely.

It goes without saying that I would like to reserve an early spot in that game.

Lets crank out some writeups though. I'm ready for this one to be done.

Was just playing around after posting my writeup and decided to see how I'd have drafted in other slots. So, I drafted 3 teams, in the #1, #6, and #10 spots to see if they would end up competitive, limiting myself to players I didn't actually draft and who were available at those spots. I also didn't look at the numbers for any of the players which is normally something I'm pretty careful about but some I remember and some I took for granted based on the draft order. (9th and 10th men I just filled in later using my own and others late round picks)

Team Hakeem (1)

C Hakeem Olajuwon
PG Mookie Blaylock
SF Clifford Robinson
SG Jeff Hornacek
PF Otis Thorpe

PF Sam Perkins
PG Terrell Brandon
SG Sarunas Marciulonis
C Jayson Williams
SF Billy Owens

Following the pattern of Hakeem's championship teams, this team has great spacing and Hakeem, Mookie, and Uncle Cliffie, it has outstanding defense plus enough scoring at good efficiency to keep opponents from focusing solely on Kareem.

Team Payton (6)

PG Gary Payton
C Vlade Divac
PF Horace Grant
SF Jamal Mashburn
SG John Starks

SF Robert Horry
SG Wes Person
C Mark West
PF Armond Gilliam
PG Sherman Douglas

This team has nasty backcourt defense, good interior defenders, and Mashburn gives them a high volume scorer next to Payton. Again, everyone can score a bit, there's good defense, and Starks adds 3 point shooting for spacing plus both big man can step out. A bit inefficient on the wings though.

Team Mutombo (10)

C Dikembe Mutombo
PF Shawn Kemp
PG Rod Strickland
SG Toni Kukoc
SF Glen Robinson

SF Stacy Augmon
PF Chris Gatling
PG Sam Cassell
C Terry Mills
SG Danny Ainge

With Mutombo providing shot blocking and rebounding, concentrated on offense more. Kemp had a great year and Gatling "the energizer bunny" gives them another high efficiency inside scorer plus Terry Mills provides a 6'10 3 point threat. On the perimeter, the defense is weak but there a lot of scoring and playmaking and Augmon can come in as a stepper if needed. This was the toughest build of the three because Deke, great as he was, is actually a below average center in an 9 team league.
