Also, who is able to commish the next game? I could maybe help with the draft if no one of more seniority wants to.

I'm down for starting one after the lottery(week from tomorrow).

I say we start the sign-up sheet Wednesday night or Thursday sometime just to give people plenty of time heads up for whatever circumstance. As far as commissioner goes..doesn't matter to me--just someone reliable.

So i talked to some people, and unless someone with more experience than me steps up, I will be the main commissioner for the next game, with Lukekarts and BlackIce helping out a bit.

I'm aiming for a start date for the next game to be somewhere around May 17-18ish (mid next week), but that all depends on how many people sign up. So lets get signed up!

Also...if you don't have an AIM account, it is highly suggested that you get one. It makes the game much easier.

I say having AIM is a must for this game. Anyone who doesn't have it and wants to play now has about a week to get it.

You can't force people to get AIM, and even if they do, you can't make them sign into it.

I still make plenty of trades vai email - I don't find it an issue.

I also have concerns about the timescale - the draft lottery is 17th May, the draft itself 23rd June. Lots of unanswered questions - do we start with the draft? Free agency?

Personally, I think the proposed start date might be to soon.

Agreed. Waiting another week would let us have lottery results in hand, and also some time to get clear about the rules for this round.

ok how about we move the start date to sometime around the 23rd of May? (A week from this Monday, apx. 11 days from today). That would give us a few more days to work stuff out.

Yeah I don't think AIM should be required, but highly encouraged.

I think we have a typical game, not moving up the draft or FA. If we move say the draft up, then it might decide which direction teams go. like if SAC got #1, they might go for a rebuild for the future, when in reality the GM wanted to contend. This also causes teams with more draft picks (HOU, UTA) to lean towards going for the future as well. If we go back to normal, then the team building for the future will trade for draft picks, and the teams going for win now will get rid of them.

Idk maybe I'm wrong, but the mystery of how high the draft pick is probably raises it's value in trading, makes it more interesting. If we draft right away, I think it wouldn't help trading because you already know who you got.

Just a suggestion, maybe we start with an automatic draft, e.g. we use what we agree is the best mock draft, after the lotto results, to automatically select a draft.

E.g. if Washington gets no. 1 pick, we assume they take Williams. Then the Wizards GM starts the game with Derrick Williams.

We could have a brief FA window. I say brief because there will not be many players with cap space (pretty much like real life). Then we run trading throughout the season; and end.

Alternatively, we can go all the way through to 2012 Free Agency?

1st, I don't believe we could do 2 FA's, it gets really messy. I wouldnt mind the automatic draft, to speed things up, but what if we do that with normal time?

So like we do trading for a while, then we rank everyone, and whoever is the worst team, automatically gets say Irving, and the second worst team, after trading, gets Williams ect. Could we do that maybe?

Then do normal FA during the summer of 2012. Then more players get cap space (usually), and it would be a bit more interesting.

Also regarding FA, should we have it where if you sign a FA you can't trade him?

that just shows why you can not have auto draft because 2 different people are saying a different person goes #1

you gotta have a choice of who you want

auto-draft is a bad idea, better off having people sending in lists. Or a live draft with 1 min on the clock per team afterward lists or BPA if lists aren't submitted.

live draft on something like instant messenger, skype, etc. would work a lot better then an auto-draft.

The draft the game before this worked fairly well IMHO. Strict time limit, autopick, do it all in one weekend.

Maybe we could do an auto draft for the second round? it seems that the draft really slows down in the second round.

also, lets get signed up for the next game! so far we have 16 GMs that have signed up. Some of the more popular teams are LAC, MEM, UTA and MIN. So if you have one of those teams, your chances to get them are a bit lower. BOS, DAL, HOU, MIA, MIL, NJ, ORL and POR have all not been chosen by anyone.

So thats just a quick update on how things are playing out.

We got three spots left! We might start early...I'm thinking maybe this Wednesday/Thursday ish? Any thoughts on that?

Also, if anyone wants ORL or DAL they can have them, as no one has put them down for choice 1, 2, or 3.
