Sprewell is a really good fit alongside Jefferson, Kidd and Duncan.

63 - Sacramento & New Jersey

Sacramento sign & trade Walter McCarty($650,000) alongside Peja Stojakovic ($6,250,000) for Stephen Jackson ($8,000,000)

Why for NJ? Adding a shooter to my team, who is a nice compliment to my defensive front court; and should be better ready to start in place of Eddie Jones.

Good dealing, Sac :)

Sacramento has enough fire power and welcomes the younger Jackson to their roster. Jackson provides a better all around game - ball handling, assists and great upgrade on defense without sacrificing much on the offensive end or boards. Peja was a great shooter, but Jax's added dimensions will help the Kings get to the championship.

Since Jackson can play the SF & SG this will leave additional time available for rookie Josh Howard, who we expect to be an All Star SF by the 2007 season. Jax, Jamal Crawford, Josh Howard and Marquis Daniels will prove to be an outstanding rotation for the Kings future.

Again - nice working with the Nets on this deal.

Grizzlies confirms this deal. Lamar Odom will start but the combination of he and Diaw offers great future potnetial and versatility. Jim jackson will have a long productive career and Jaric travels well. Both can play SF/PF and Center at times.

Again, a pleasure to find a compatible - win win deal with LAC's Yitur

$18,585,153 > $16,656,454, yeah, trade works.

Sad to lose Haywood and Jeffries, but we shed overpaid Brian Grant, and get 3 young nice players.

Confirmed.

65 - New Jersey and New York have agreed a trade.

New York Knicks trade:

Howard Eisley $5,845,000

New Jersey Nets trade:

Chris Childs - $1,166,667
Rodney Rogers - $3,075,600
Walter McCarty - $650,000

Total outgoing = $4,892,267 (*1.25 + $100k = $6,215,333) - the deal works!

Why for NJ? We need a PG more than we need Rogers/McCarty at SG/F; Eisley was not much of a scorer but 4+ apg off the bench will do us just fine.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

I accept this deal. Eisley is a nice point guard, but I already have Mo Williams and Charlie Ward so that makes him expendable. I'm caphell so any small amount of cap relief I could get i good.

Trade between Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs:

Washington sends:

Latrell Sprewell $13,500,000

San Antonio sends:

Bonzi Wells $7,000,000
2004 1st round pick.

SAS get 6,5 mil extra salary, but they have 8,65 mil free in their cap, so they can do this deal.

Washington does this, because Latrell is older guy, who will soon retire, while Bonzi is less-paid, younger and productive guy.

Please post PJ Brown signing before trade approval.

Trade 66
KINGS / GRIZZLIES AND RAPTORS ANNOUNCE DEAL

The Sacramento Kings have Acquired PG Andre Miller and rookie SF Carmello Anthony in a 3 way trade with Memphis & Toroto. In addition to the above the Kings will get PG Lindsey Hunter on an expiring contract.

Toronto will send Memphis F Ron Mercer and PG Brevin Knight along with the Portland 2nd round pick in 2004 and Toronto's 2005 1st. Memphis will send it's 2004 2nd round pick to Toronto in the deal.

In exchange for Anthony, the KIngs send starting PG Mike Bibby. SF/SG Stephen Jackson and backup PF Kenny Thomas to the Raptors and their 2004 2nd round pick to Memphis.

The deal has Sacramento moving (Bibby(9M), Jax(8M) and Thomas(5M)) $22M in salaries while taking on Miler (10) and Melo (2.691M) & Hunter (3.3) (15.991 total and gaining a 6M TPE). The Grizzlies take on Mercer (6.75M) and Knight (5) 11.750 while sending Miller (10 X1.25 = 12.5M) out so the salaries work. Finally, the Raptors send Mercer/Melo/Hunter/ Knight ($17.741 out and take on $22M in salaries - which works under the 1.25 rule, but they had 6.5M in capspace to absort the deal and create the TPE (to Sacramento). The salaries work.

Sacramento - who brokered this deal wants to thank Toronto for their patience and working to make this an great trade all around. The Kings confirm this move which - though costly gets them a younger - facilitating PG that can run their bigs and will be invaluable in their championship challenge. In addition, adding Carmelo Anthony to this roster is a great move. Thanks you Toronto - Memphis was a headache!

Toronto confirms the deal number 66:

We hate to lose a guy, who has a superstar potential, but we had to do this: First of all, Melo is unproven rookie, who may be a great star, or a bust. Second, we had no PG, and this deal gives us Bibby. Thirdly, we improve our defense with Jax, while sacrifising Carmelo's scoring. Later, we had a lot of scorers already (Terry, Randolph, Miller), so losing Melo doesn't hurt a lot. And lately, we improve our frontcourt depth.
Good dealing, Scott :)

Memphis reluctantly confirms this deal. The Grizzlies continue to assemble young talent and know they are a few years away from a deep push in the playoff. In Keeping with their "Fiscally Responsible" philosphy (cheap), the team begrudgingly moved their starting PG to a condender and brought back Kentucky native - former all star Ron Mercer to help attendance. In addition, they have a capable PG for now in Brevin Knight who should flourish in their up tempo system. Both acquisitons are on expiring contracts and the added picks will offer a great chance to get a quality PG (Deron Williams, CP3 are available) in 2005.

Trade accepted. We made the original offer to Andersen when he was a RFA but missed out. We now were able to negotiate and still add him to the playoff ready roster. We believe that giving him the starting spot, hopefully competing in the playoffs, and working with great veterans & coaching staff that he will stay out of trouble in the future and blossom. Great dealing Warriorfan.
