Draft Picks -
CHA 2013 1st Rounder
Philly 2013 1st Rounder
Charlotte 2013 2nd Rounder

Notes -
We believe that we've upgraded in almost every facet of our lineup. We've gone for the traditional structure.

- Pass first point guard (Can also score and is going to be an All Star this year)
- Scoring shooting guard, can also distribute
- Defensive / Scoring small forward
- Post playing / mid range offensive power forward
- Defensive / shot blocking center
- One of the if not the best bench in the league

We haven't just thrown talent together and hoped it fit, we've made a concerted effort to get guys who would fit together and next to each other. We believe to beat our team you have to play a whole 48 minutes of great basketball, not only are our starters above average, but even when they come off you're essentially still playing another starting 5. Which we believe will be our biggest strength and the reason we are a heavy contender.

In terms of what we've set up we've gone win now, with veterans, but they still have good amount of years in them. Parker/Monta/Perkins/Ariza all have another 5 years of high level productive basketball while Scola/Hamilton/Davis/Odom/Butler have a couple years of high basketball left and they'll all be chasing a chip hard in the last couple of years.

We have two first rounders in the upcoming draft which we will use to push some more youth up into our team. We might use both or we might package them together to get a high draft pick, but our team has a lot of options, diversity and continuity. No real glaring weaknesses, defense, offense and bench play is all of above quality.

We have a 13.5m TPE that we can use for a team that's looking to dump salary, that'll be able to get us another high quality player to bring off the bench or start for our team which will only improve us.

Point Guard -
From (Jrue Holiday / Lou Williams)
To (Tony Parker / Baron Davis)
Whilst Holiday and Williams are decent young players, they lack consistency and usually look to score themselves, we value the traditional point guard, and we believe we have one of the best in Tony Parker. This year he's playing at an elite level 19/8. Will be an All star, is consistent, sets up team mates, has had an abundance of playoff pushes and championship experiences that will be great for my team.

Shooting Guard -
From (Evan Turner / Jodie Meeks)
To (Monta Ellis / Rip Hamilton / Deshawn Stevenson)
Again Turner and Meeks are good young players, Monta isn't an old player either and is currently the 3rd best shooting guard in the league. He's able to carry a offense by himself, but in my team he doesn't have to and he has a true distributor getting him the ball in his spots. Having better team mates will open up his game also. But apart from that he'll be able to get rest knowing the team will still go well without him as we have a perennial 6th man of the year candidate off the bench.

Small Forward -
From (Iguodala / Andres Nocioni / Brackins)
To (Caron Butler / Trevor Ariza / Raja Bell / Jamario Moon)
Losing Iguodala is hard as he's good on both sides of the ball. We still think we've got great production at this spot, Butler and Ariza are both capable of scoring and are great defenders. We'll be able to ride the hot hand on any given night and know that they're both going to produce starter level efforts. Good compliments to the rest of our lineup. We also rid ourselves of Nocioni's terrible contract.

Power Forward -
From (Elton Brand / Thaddeus Young / Lavoy Allen)
To (Luis Scola / Lamar Odom / Al Thornton)
Everyone knows Brand has a top 5 worst contract in the NBA so just being able to get rid of him whilst still bringing in a good player was awesome. Scola is very under rated player and has shown that he can be a first option for the Rockets. He's good in the post and from mid range so we have options for how we want him to run his offense on this team. Ofcourse off our bench we have another 6th man of the year winner/contender. Scola comes off and we lose nothing really. Young and Odom are much alike, good rebounders / left handed / jump shots / 6th men, etc. So we obviously upgraded on the starting lineup spot.

Center -
From (Spencer Hawes / Nicolai Vucevic / Tony Battie)
To (Kendrick Perkins / Mareese Speights)
Spencer Hawes and Perkins are basically opposites, and we have the opposite that we need. We don't need a guy who can space the floor and not really defend. We've got a guy that doesn't need touches on offense to be effective in a game, he'll rebound/defend/shot block and be tough all game. We have a guy off the bench that can come in and bring offense if needed in specialty situations.

I believe I've turned my team around the most out of the game, from a middle of the pack team with no real player who can take over to a bunch of savvy veterans with a lot of depth that will push hard in the playoffs. Thanks for reading all the way to the end :)

Minnesota Timberwolves Depth Charts
Ricky Rubio / Gilbert Arenas / Darius Morris
Wesley Matthews / Terrence Williams / Bojan Bogdanovic
LRMAM / Jared Dudley / Sam Young
Ryan Anderson / Anderson Varejao /Terrence Jones
Anthony Davis /Nikola Vucevic /Kwame Brown

PG

Ricky Rubio / Gilbert Arenas / Darius Morris = Ricky Rubio / Jose Juan Barea / Luke Ridnour

We needed a scoring guard behind the player we chosen to keep, we downgraded from JJB/Ridnour but at the same time we pick up a 6'6" PG who could potentially be either a defensive PG or play SG beside Rubio.
Going forward, Rubio will need to play at least 30mins so having 2 smallish backup really affected how we might play (i.e. can only slide rubio to SG or go with a severely underside backcourt. Arenas did well in his secondary role to Wall at Washington so we though he can mentor rubio on how to lead a team (Guns not included)

SG
Wesley Matthews / Terrence Williams / Bojan Bogdanovic >>>Martell Webster / Wayne Ellington / Malcolm Lee

Bojan and Lee are ex 2nd rounder with Bojan having the size to play some SF as well.
Matthews is an SG that the real Timberwolves would be estatic to get, 3 point shooting plus defence. T-Will still have some potential and i believe he's better than a cant stay healthy Webster or 3 point shooting only ellington.
T Will can do a little bit of everything and we're willing to give him a chance until his rookie contract ends.

SF
LRMAM / Jared Dudley / Sam Young <<Michael Beasley / Derrick Williams / Wesley Johnson

Beasley can score but we're not sure if he can lead. Derrick Williams seems stuck between position and frankly i think he's better as a floor spreading SF. Wesley matthews was a reach.
Instead we take on 3 glue guys, LRMAM who is one of the better defender in the league and can guard 1-5 not named Dwight, Dudley who's decent on defence but more of a 3 point threat while Sam Young will provide some minutes of defence.

PF
Ryan Anderson / Anderson Varejao /Terrence Jones< Kevin Love / Anthony Randolph / Anthony Tolliver

Ryan Anderson is a poor man Kevin Love and we paid him accordingly.1/3 of what Love is getting. We're not convinced Love is Batman so we traded him away rather than pay him Batman's salary.
AV is probably a starter on most other team but on ours he's our 1st big off the bench and provide veteran leadership. He'll help to reinforce the defensive mentality that we have in our starting 11 and then some. Much better than Tolliver. Magic Randolph has flattered to deceive and we dont want to pay him so we traded him for Terence Jones a hustle SF/PF on a new rookie contract.

C
Anthony Davis /Nikola Vucevic /Kwame Brown >>Darko Milicic / Nikola Pekovic/ Brad Miller

3rd string Kwame is on a similer level to our previous starter Darko.
We're banking on Davis being the next Garnett and Vucevic is another big that we're high on. I believe this is our strongest position now.

Own picks 2014 1st, 2015 1st,2015 2nd,
Pick Owed
2013: 1st(UTA-Rolled, MIA,ORL) 2nd (UTA),
2014: 1st (WAS,LAL,NOH,MEM,ATL), 2nd(NOH,PHI,CHI)
2015: 1st (LAC) ,2nd(WAS,MEM,DEN)
Image

Summary: 9 future 1st and a string of 2nds. We didnt locked ourselves into salary cap hell and got a bunch of assets in terms of rookie contract. Let's face it, Dwight in LA and Miami's Lebron etc etc are still going to dominate in the short term so we retooled for when they're on their downside.

New York Knicks
Started with:
PG: Davis/Douglas/Shumpert
SG: Fields/Walker
SF: Anthony/Jeffries/Novak
PF: Stoudemire/Harrelson
C: Chandler/Jordan

Ended with:
PG: Lowry
SG: Hill/Lamb
SF: Nowitzkitz
PF: Bosh
C: Okafor/Jordan

Salaries:
Lowry $5,750,000 $6,210,000
HIll $3,000,000
Lamb $2,404,600 $3,049,920 $3,873,398
Nowitzki $20,907,128 $22,721,381
Bosh $17,545,000 $19,067,500 $20,590,000
Okafor $13,490,000 $14,487,500
Jordan $762,195 $1,059,293
Salary: $63,858,923 $76,595,594 $20,590,000

All future original picks, 6 mil in cash.

PG: Lowry>>>>Davis/Douglas/Shumpert.
Davis is older and injury-prone, while Lowry has been a beast this season. The other two aren't even true PGs and TDDWTDD has been one of the worst players in the league this season
SG: Hill/Lamb>>>Fields/Walker
Fields has been struggling, adjusting to the Melo trade. Lamb is a top 5 pick and HIll provides great defense and veteran leadershio.
SF: Melo/Jeffries/Novak=Dirk
Melo has shown to be too bad of a decision maker, especially in the 4th, and he is more of a high colume player than anything. While DIrk is older and has struggled this season, he has shown he can lead a team to a championship.
PF: Bosh>Amare
Amar'e has not played well sans a PG, and Bosh is a much better complimentary player and defensive player
C: Chandler/Foster=Okafor/Foster/Jordan
They're pretty similar players, except Chandler is a bit younger and more athletic, although Emeka is cheaper and his contract ends sooner.

The Cavs had four assets:
1. Kyrie Irving
2. Tristan Thompson
3. Anderson Vareajo
4. 2012 1st Round Pick

At first, I received no offers from anyone because:
a) Kyrie was deemed untouchable only for an upgrade, which was kind of an unknown (what an upgrade was) for nearly half the game.
b) People thought TT was a bust b/c he was supposedly "picked too high."
c) Only tried to get Varejao cheap, as a sort of defensive center to compliment their starting lineup, offering bench players/fringe starters. He's not really the sort (despite his production) that you give up a lot for..

Nonetheless, these are the assets I had to work with, as the rest of the roster consisted of guys with mediocre to no value (I won't say negative, since there was no one I wanted to unload).

Anyways, Curry/Irving to me is a wash, if you want to give Irving the edge, that's fine by me. But I'd want to remind you what Irving is doing this season is not really all that greater than what Curry did in his rookie season, in fact, need I remind you that Curry did 22/6/8 post all-star break in his rookie season; and he wasn't given, nor still has been given the reigns of the team that Kyrie has already.

Millsap is having an all-star caliber season; roughly 17/10 on a surprisingly good Jazz team. I'd personally give him the edge value wise over TT as well (since he's still raw), but for the sake of less argument, let's pretend that...

Curry/Millsap = Irving/TT.

This would imply we used Anderson Varejao, and our pick (which was #21) in exchange for:

1.) Andrew Bynum
2.) Eric Gordon

Two all-star caliber players, that are very fringe franchise sort types. Bynum has the second most value in the league at C, doing 17/12, anchoring the Lakers defense, and making his first all-star appearance. I'd also venture to say that EG has the most SG value of anyone in the league, only after DWade, and Kobe.

3.) Dorell Wright
4.) Shawn Marion
5.) Chandler Parsons
6.) Aaron Brooks

I'd argue these guys have above average value (cept Brooks, who prob has average-ish value), Wright is finding his stroke, and a SF that garnered a lot of interest with his length/shooting ability. IMO, Marion is one of the better SF fits w/ my team in the league, his defense, rebounding and hustle has been terrific this season, and while his value may not be the same, b/c of his age, he's on a cap friendly contract, and a tremendous fit.

Parsons is a ROOKIE starter on the Rockets, in fact putting up similar #'s w/ a similar role to Kawhi Leonard on the Spurs. He's obviously not as good, but he often defends the other teams best players, is good off the ball, and a nice rebounder. 7/5/2, send that man to the rookie/sophomore game!! (Note: I am an extreme Parsons homer, lol).

And Brooks was a guy I felt I could take a gamble on, we're talking a lot about Brandon Jennings this season, check out Brooks season 2 years ago, and it's virtually identical #'s (and Rockets were a .500 team too). We've seen what quick guards w/ range can do, especially off the bench (see: Barea), and we feel Brooks can replicate that, or step in w/ an injury w/out missing a beat.

7.) JaJaun Johnson/Mason Plumlee/Drew Gooden/Kurt Thomas/Andrew Goudelock

Gooden/Thomas are vets that are playing real well, while JJJ is showing some game recently w/ the C's, and Plumlee is another big with OK potential, that's projected to be a first rounder. Even Goudelock is playing well off the bench as a rookie for the Lakers.

We can also look at it another way...EG/Bynum for Irving/Varejao/TT. IMO, Bynum has more value than Varejao and TT, while EG/Irving have similar value, but slight edge to Irving. Which would imply, Curry/Millsap, and the rest of those pieces for nothing, really.

Code: Select all

Average Age: 26.1 (this includes Kurt Thomas [39] and Drew Gooden [30]).
Average Age: 24.6 (removing Thomas/Gooden, still even includes Marion)...

It would be 23.8 years old if you removed Marion.

^so you can see, our core can still play for another decade almost.

And this doesn't limit us in the current too, we finished as a playoff team last season, and have gotten better since then. All our young guys are established starters in this league (even Parsons is a starter, lol), and Curry/EG/Bynum when on the floor have shown all-star caliber play. Marion fits perfectly. Wright, and Brooks do their thang off the bench, and Gooden/Kurt provide veteran backup big men, with two other young big man waiting to replace them w/ more experience. The team fits very well together, Millsap has played w/ low post big men successfully, Curry/EG provide terrific creating ability and spacing for Bynum in the post, and we'll certainly utilize the skill-set that Bynum has, being far more a focal point than he is on the Lakers. Defense, offense, fit, spacing, depth, is all there to compete now, and only get better in the future.

We have a franchise PG/SG/C for the next decade, a very good PF that's having an all-star caliber season and only slightly older. Then Wright/Marion/Parsons all able to play the 3 spot, for now and the future. This team can contend NOW as all our young players are established, but will only get better in the future w/ development, and team chemistry. The pieces fit together, nobody gets in anyones way, and the value acquired from what we started w/ deserves to be ranked highly.

VOTE CLEVELAND! :)

Write-up:

At the start GSW had some nice talent, but they were a team that was known as a weak team that can't make the playoffs and plays no D. When Mark Jackson took over this team he said he wanted to change the mentality and so did i in this game. My direction was to get GSW a different look. Let's see how i did this:

Offense:

Balanced team that doesn't have a true superstar, but scoring now can come from anywhere. Ray Allen 3's in transition or running off the screens. Stuckey's penetration. Jeff Green posting up smaller SF's. Al Jefferson in the post. Dalembert can hit that free throw line jumper. I mean lots of different places to score from and if any of those players have a mismatch, we can easily take advantage. I won't throw you any numbers, cos they change every day you can easily check them by yourselves.

Defense:

Dally protecting the paint, Al blocking some shots should make a decent inside defensive duo. Jeff Green is a good defender, who can be our wing stopper. Ray is pretty solid and Stuckey has that size to stop other teams PG's. Like on offense, our defense is really balanced.

Bench:

I consider my bench as my biggest strength. I didn't mention my bench guys in Offense/Defense sections, because i thought you'll overlook them. So i made a bench section to show you guys, that i really have a solid deep team.
Beaubois brings some energy, scoring, shooting and blocks. If he doesn't have a good game, doesn't matter, cos we have Dooling as our 3rd string PG. He won't see a lot of time, but he should be the best 3rd string PG in the league. Ronnie Brewer brings slashing, a bit improved jumper and insane defense. I said Jeff Green is my wing stopper, but when Ronnie gets off the bench, he can take over this job. Danny Green. You may not value him if you didn't watch Spurs, but if you did, you know, that this kid is the real deal. He earned his time, with his scoring, defense and energy. He had a nice number of good games. Guy is still fairly young and Popovich even gave him a ball in some streches to create, showing that his handles and playmaking may be really underrated. We are high on him and we hope, he shows his capabilities. Carl Landry, no intro needed. He scores and scores a lot. He's a good scorer in the 4th quarter, so he can be a finisher, if someone else doesn't have a good game. Last but not least, Zaza Pachulia. He brings toughness, D and is a very good back-up C. Centers have a tendency to get quick fouls, but if that happens to Dalembert, we have no worries, because we can easily trust Zaza.

Money situation:

You probably looked at my salaries and said: "Yuck, 74 million". But my response is: "Look at 2013/14". We will have about 17 free million to make a run at a good FA or two.. or three..
We also got some cash, so if we don't like a player that is underperforming, we can easily get rid of him.

Conclusion:

I'll repeat: My direction was to get GSW a different look. I think i did that. This team isn't gonna win now and it's not gonna be up and coming young team, where only time is the question, but with such a balanced, deep roster and some quality players, we will easily make the playoffs and we will probably give some headaches for top teams, because if one or more of our starters are struggling, we can easily replace him with out bench guy and we wouldn't lose anything.
After that, of course, we will be much more attractive place and, like i said, we will get some good FAs with our capspace or via trades (cos we have a lot of good assets) to join our balanced crew. Of course, some players will leave, while some of them will be resigned, but any way or antoher, this team will make you forget all those non playoff years and i guess, we're perfectly set to become a powerhouse in 2-3 seasons.

Last, but not least. Thanks (almost) everybody for a great game. It was interesting and fun doing trades. Also, thanks Keeslinator for commishing, it's sad that you're leaving us after the next game, but, of course, real life is more important :)

New Jersey Nets

Started with a Team that Sucked for $ 60,000,000 - Ended at $43,000,000.
Felt I had some excellent lineups along the way but had some unfair rulings
and some Personal attacks leveled by a few GMs during the game that took were unfortunate.

I enjoyed dealing with most of you and tried to stay current and deal fairly with everyone.
Good luck in the next round and remember it is a game.

CASH: +3M (AKA 10 M total)

Rose ---> Rondo is not that big a drop off. the fact that rondo still can't shoot free-throws that well has barely affected the celtics at all. further, rondo is assisting out of his mind and gained great confidence in his jump shot (he's taking them without hesitation!)

Hamilton ---> Sefalosha makes me MUCH MUCH younger! I clearly have the best defensive starting back-court in the game. Thabo can spot up the 3 very well too.

Deng ---> Paul Pierce. Pierce has been carrying the celtics this season. he's shown NO sign of aging. he was out of shape at the beginning of the season, but look at him now. he just passed BIRD in all-time scoring for the celtics. looking at him statistically this season, pierce might be the move valuable player in terms of efficiency in all areas for his team: scoring, passing, rebounding, etc. he's averaging 23 pts, 7 asts, 7 rebs, 1.3 stls, 1 blk, on 45% fg, 81% ft, 43%3fg, and 2.3 3PM. greatest captain and gel guy out there (ok a little bias there but his stats don't lie!) one of the best defenders at the 3 as well.

Boozer ----> Josh Smith. I lose some offense, but gain so much freakish athleticism (reuniting rondo and jsmoove on purpose for those alleyoops!!!) smoove's defense is also a perfect fit with my back court. smith can also pass, rebound, and offensive rebounds/put-backs are insane!

noah -----> pau. i get older yes, but again this championship experience only helps and pau is one of the big men with the HIGHEST BBALL IQs ever. the guy can pass - why do you think kobe vouches for him so much? pau's a bit soft on defense, but that's why i have smith with him in the front court and jason thompson/taj gibson backing him up in the front court!

BENCH:
Farmar/fisher at PG only bring vet experience in ball distribution and just playing with a high IQ. great backups for rondo
Terry the JET is the best 6man out there and a third of the reason why the MAVS won the championship (in addition to dirk and tyson as the main pieces). again, most championship experience who ISN"T washed up.
Maggette can create his own shot when necessary and gets to the free-throw lines to stop the clock in pressure situations. he provides a great backup to pierce.
taj is young and very highly demanded a player. he is an apprentice under josh smith's wing.
thompson is another young asset who can play backup minutes and provide fresh young legs to give pau the rest he needs.

why i should win: i have 5 players with championship rings on my team, and a core of rondo/thabo/smith/taj/thompson going into the future is terrific young talent. once my vets help me win some champsionships (pierce, pau, jet, fisher all coming off the books means i can make a big go at FAs in the future!).

my starting 5 has terrific defense and if you attack my offense, i have: rondo's penetration ability and alley-oops to jsmoove. LOB CITY 2.0. thabo can spot up, pierce has the entire artillery on offense. smith cuts all day and can be PASSED TO by rondo, pierce, or pau at anytime. pau has great range for a big and one of the best offensive post players out there. then i have jet and mags as big scoring punches of the bench.
