Re: Pacific Division Draft - R1 - BdeRegt vs AustinCarr
1. Kevin Durant - 2017 - 16.5
2. Bob McAdoo - 1975 - 22.2 -
3. Andre Iguodala - 2017 - 5.5
4. Latrell Sprewell - 1994 - 17.3
5. Harrison Barnes - 2015 - 8.0
6. Nick Van Exel - 1998 - 11.6
7. Pat McCaw - 2017 - 3.5
8. Clifford Ray - 1975 - 7.0*.85 = 5.95 = 6.0
Total: 89.6/90
Nick Van Exel (36) / McCaw(12)
Sprewell (36) / Iguodala (8) / McCaw (4)
Durant (26) / Iguodala (22)
Barnes (30) / Durant (10) / McAdoo (8)
McAdoo (28) / Ray (20)
My team is built with excellent shooting throughout the lineup with everyone being a threat from the outside. As Bill Russell described McAdoo, "He's the greatest shooter of all time, period. Forget that bit about the 'greatest shooting big man.' " This spacing will really allow KD/McAdoo to utilize their incredible scoring ability with Sprewell being a great third option.
Match up:
Defensively, Sprewell/Iguodala will take Oscar the whole time he is on the floor. They both have the combination of size and quickness to contain him as well as anyone. Everyone else will guard as line ups indicate. I like Durant on Peja to use his length to contest shots.
Offensively, I think McAdoo will be able to put up big points as Divac is not quick enough to contain McAdoo. Durant should have success against Peja/Odom/whoever guards him. Overall, I expect the spacing of my offense and everyone being a competent offensive player will allow a lot of ball movement and attacking defenses while off balance.

Re: Pacific Division Draft - R1 - BdeRegt vs AustinCarr
63 Oscar Robertson 17.0
08 Raja Bell 10.0
03 Peja Stojakovic 14.4
09 Lamar Odom 9.0
95 Vlade Divac 12.0
14 Eric Bledsoe 12.9
00 Rodney Rogers 10.7
16 Cole Aldrich 3.8
Oscar Robertson (40) / Eric Bledsoe (8)
Raja Bell (28) / Eric Bledsoe (20)
Peja Stojakovic (34) / Rodney Rogers (8) / Raja Bell (6)
Lamar Odom (30) / Rodney Rogers (18)
Vlade Divac (35) / Cole Aldrich (13)
We'll score a ton - good spacing, distribution, a lead dog and plenty of creation. Stopping people will be more of a challenge but we aren't as deficient as I expected to be when I picked Peja 2nd. Obviously Big O guards 2s when Bledsoe is in, but Oscar will have the ball in his hands. Lots of passing ability as usual, more ball handling than I usually get, bit less defense than I prefer. We'll be good against any PnR heavy squad, so I just have to force the post-up bigs off the floor with spacing and shooting.
Notes for Matchup:
Thanks to BdeRegt for putting together this draft and congrats on a nice team. The top two of Durant and McAdoo is obviously formidable.
This is probably Odom's best defensive season so we'll try him on Durant, Peja will hide on Barnes. Basic plan will be to let the crazy 53 TS% guy taking 17 FGA get his, help off him and Barnes to limit Durant as much as possible. With three ISO-types, they aren't going to be getting amazing hockey assists; it's just about stopping them. On offense, we can attack the rim fairly easily with Oscar, Peja and Odom, and we will be getting good looks with a lot of unselfish guys out there. Probably comes down to whether you think McAdoo dominates offensively, and I won't pretend to have a great feel for whether that happens or not.

I like AustinCarr61's offense a lot. Bledsoe off the bench is a great move. I don't think Durant and McAdoo is enough to overcome the team in place here.

Re: Pacific Division Draft - R1 - BdeRegt vs AustinCarr
Two very talented teams here. For AustinCarr, the shooting and playmaking around Oscar is tremendous, and I love Bledsoe and Rogers as bench pieces. Not quite the star power of Bde's squad but their ball movement and depth could overcome that.
I also like a lot of what Bde did but I'm not sure about the combination of Spree and Van Exel. I don't know how well the ball will be moving with those two as the guards, especially since KD is also prone to lapsing into isoball. At the same time, KD and McAdoo is a formidable duo and there is good shooting and dynamism around them.
Hate to vote against AustinCarr who has built a team I'd love to watch, but that superstar pairing carries the day here.

Re: Pacific Division Draft - R1 - BdeRegt vs AustinCarr
I'm starting to sound like my dad but "there's only 1 ball." I don't think Bde gets the most out of Van Exel (who I love by the way) with McAdoo, Durant and arguably Sprewell taking offensive precedence. His scoring load should justify his defensive limitations, and likely won't in this case. That said, Bde does have a slight talent edge IMO.
AustinCarr's teams fits like a glove and is built for Oscar to succeed, but it isn't built to stop Bde's 2-headed dragon. Ridiculous spacing though and Bledsoe off the bench is very nice (as is Iggy for Bde.) Plenty of offense on both sides, tough to call...
I'll go with AustinCarr61 by a hair.

I love that shooting provided by Durant/McAdoo and I think he has the 5th best player in the matchup in Spreewell
