Rashard is a better defender while Detlef is a more dynamic offensive player.

I think Detlef is better in a vacuum [assume you think the same].

I never thought of Rashard as a plus defender - or is he just not as bad?

I feel like Rashard was fine in Seattle when he was young and athletic while in Orlando he did buy into a system and was solid as a 4. He was a tad too slow to defend 3's but wasn't close to being poor.

Detlef had a similar trajectory but was able to blend in on talented defensive rosters in Seattle. His older years were some of his more impressive shooting seasons but his decline athletically was noticeable on the defensive end.

I dont see a large gap or anything defensively but Rashard gives more on that end while Detlef's advantage offensively was significantly more.

For what it's worth, I never made a choice between Schrempf and Rashard.

My other forward was always going to be a shooter. Not someone who can shoot (which Schrempf definitely is), but a guy who will plant his butt around the arc and keep his defender glued to him at all times. I also considered Majerle for that role but wanted someone who could credibly play the 4.

Of course Schrempf is a better all-around player who can do more with the ball, but he wouldn't be doing it on my team with Nash and Wade.

What I do regret is not taking Barry there and leaving Rashard for last, since I doubt anyone was looking at him. That I wanted to take back almost immediately.
