I blame the management there. They had lots of offers to get him on a clear playoff team (*cough*Warriors*cough*) but selfishly kept him stuck in New Orleans instead of letting him move on to another team.

We should have done the trade centered around Harden and Curry. Would have been cool. Such a pity you really wanted Ariza, who I overvalue

I think you did a great job getting a 2nd star next to AD. McCollum is a great fit! You were also able to unload bad contracts. If the Pelicans dont make the playoffs, it just shows you guys that the west is stacked again.

You should have traded AD to the Rockets though.

BdeRegt wrote:Agree with Dan. I would love to hear some specifics so we can have some actual discussion as that is what I feel is missing most from these games and what I want the most. For example, I think I rated Boston a little high thinking more on their team. CP3 will be another year older so hard for him to carry a team and next season, I do not think Iguodala or Dirk will be starter quality. Iguodala already isn't this year as he has really struggled and looks to be aging fast.

In the 2 other rankings posted, I think LAL and HOU are getting overrated. Lakers have great trio in Westbrook, Hayward, and Durant but Hayward will struggle on quick SGs and the rest of the team is just awful. Chandler will be 35 at this point and Ezeli can't get healthy. Motiejunas will get smoked by most PFs. Durant is only plus defender so I think the team will score but also get scored upon. For Houston, I hate the fit of Wall and Harden together. Harden has proven that you need to let him have the ball and I think Wall is wasted next to him. Minnesota seems underrated as the only big weakness I see is the backup PF slot.

I'll even critique my own teams. For the Warriors, I should have demanded more for Durant and Klay. I gave up a little too much offense to improve defense and depth. For Memphis, it is a lot of good players with Gasol being the best but no one truly Elite-Elite. You need at least 2 of those to contend so Memphis is probably a playoff team that loses first or second round depending on the match up.

While I agree that Harden and Wall is not the best fit on paper cause both are triple double threats and are most effective with the ball in their hands, you are ignoring the fact that great players can adjust (see Wade+Lebron), and a player like Harden cannot do everything for 48minutes (thats why the real-life Rockets wont win the title). Wall will help and they will play a lot of minutes next to Bev who is a great fit. I also think that many people are underrating Wall's impact. In contrary to Harden, he has become a great defender which also makes him a good fit next to Harden.

I agree that its a cool idea that some of the posters posted their rankings and that we have discussions about that.

It would be cool if every GM could get a feedback for his work but its a lot of work. Too bad we cannot post voice mails lol. Im too lazy typing all these feedbacks lol.

I agree Wall improves your defense but with Harden/Lopez out there, you are never going to have a good defense. I think Harden is a really special player but he needs to be built around with spacing and commit to playing with the ball in his hands. Harden is not a great off ball player and I think Wall is even worse. The more I think about it, I think your best lineup might be Beverley/Harden/Ross/Ariza/Lopez. Harden can run the show and make that a really great offense. I actually think the Rockets as pleasantly constructed have an excellent chance to make the WCFs. Are they going to win the title? No. You could say that about any team not CLE/GSW though. I think you were much better off keeping Blake than going after Wall.

As far as feedback, I'd love if everyone did a write up on each team to share their thoughts. Maybe start a thread and people can do it if they want? I know I would put real thought into it as I play these games as a fun way to talk basketball.

It was always Harden + something for Curry. Harden is putting up better numbers but I think Curry is definitely the better player. Harden/Westbrook are leading the MVP race but 3 best players are still Curry/Durant/LeBron.

Assuming both were locked into their contract for next 3 years, do you really think Houston says no if Golden State called offering Curry for Harden? I think GSW says no and Houston would do it.

I don't know what HOU/GS does. That's not my job. I'm looking at both players this season and I rather have Harden.

Tough decision. We should have done just Harden for Curry. :)

I agree. I love the real-life Rockets and thats why I kept players (Harden, Bev, Ariza... well, not a lot of players), but I couldnt stop trading. I think the best star fit was BG, but I turned it into Wall+Favors which is great. Should have traded Wall for a better fit though and I was tryin to but didnt have enough time. All in all, I'm still happy cuz talentwise the team is way better than the real-life Rockets.
