Re: Continental Chaos Discussion
I still think the best solution was the new rule to be 1 former All NBA in any season, and for the last 3 picks to be remade starting with Laimbeer adjusting his pick.

If Laimbeer took Lebron over Jokic because he thought he had other American All NBA, then I guess we can restart.

I think the consensus is we are just starting the draft over. Are you going to set up a new draft thread?GeorgeMarcus wrote:I will be around late morning tomorrow to keep things rolling if we are readjusted and ready to go. I'm actually not on board for a start over. I think it kills the whole vibe and takes the excitement out of approaching a new draft. It's not entirely like playing the same game twice, but kinda is

To summarize.
The original rules from GeorgeMarcus said the specific season mattered for All-NBA, not their careers. This meant that for North American Players, someone like KG in 2006 wasn't considered an All-NBA player.
Most of us didn't realize that was the case until Laimbeer selected Kawhi Leonard to pair with LeBron James. It made more sense to restart since half of us thought we could do as Laimbeer correctly noticed, given the rules, and half of us didn't realize.

My wording was such that the All-NBA restriction was only for chosen seasons, rather than players who never made All NBA in their career. This was a big point of confusion and contention so we restarted with the normal All-NBA restrictions
Perhaps this is why I'm usually just a player and not the host

Hot take:
It’s up to drafters to know the rules as written. The draft should have just continued. Not your fault.

I say this not to bash anyone- I may have made the mistake too given how these restrictions are normally structured, but I think it’s healthy to have more than the same one or two people run these and that variations in the rules should be seen as okay too.
I think it’s not particularly healthy for this community for a drafter to feel they “messed up” just because the rules weren’t what people are used to. There should be multiple people wanting to run these with their own ideas and this sort of thing makes that less likely.
Just 2 cents from one guy not playing in this.

Part of the problem was that the draft thread had the rule worded differently from the OP in the discussion thread. The fact that the restriction applied only to the chosen season wasn't in the draft thread.

I appreciate your outlook Snake- my intention was to throw a curveball in our usual player valuations but I probably should have made that more clear. I'm just glad we were able to retain the original drafters (assuming db is still game)
