Think a lot of it is down to reduced participation which in turn leads to tighter timelines which might exclude MJ. You'll pretty much never have a game where LeBron is ineligible.
It does seem like he's not in a lot of games, but some other 90s eligible players still did better in that timeframe, Robinson has 9 since April 2020 for example, Drexler has 8, and players like Hakeem, Barkley, Malone have at least 4. Magic has 3 which is low for him but there has been especially fewer pre 90s games. The difference between Jordan having 1 win and 4-5 might be just a coinflip though.
It doesn't help that Smash hasn't played very much who was the MJ whisperer, and when Super Powered played he was guaranteed an extra vote every playoff series, along with some other posters who were MJ fanboy-ish.
