Shrug. Any of these are fine. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the ideas we had before.
The participants just aren’t there at the moment.

Last name first name pairs draft.
Pretty simple.
You draft Lebron James, then your second player drafted last name must start with an S.
So second player picked could me Marcus Smart
Third player picked name will have to start with "T"

Still a little salty that my NBA Draft themed game didn't get enough traction.

I don't think it's the idea. It's just a tougher time to recruit people to play. When the current draft idea seemed stuck, I sent several PM's and then MadNess and GeorgeMarcus joined. Roddy joined mid draft and raised the number crucially from 8 to 9, so it turned out fine

Yeah, I don't think it was the idea either- just a rough time for these games. I don't really like to PM people begging them to join. To me a quote making sure people are aware of a new game is enough. I didn't want to play that game given that only 7 people were interested after seeing it.
I dunno, maybe this time it'll be permanent.
I'm always amazed these games have stayed afloat as long as they have tbh. We started doing these FGA style games nearly a decade ago at this point. I think the earliest ones had 15-16 as the most current season.

Seems logical to include Golden State as well.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES THREAD - 2/9/2025
Biggest Draft Misses (Franchise Pairs)
Rochester Royals → Boston Celtics (1956)
#1: Si Green
#2: Bill Russell
Portland Trail Blazers → Chicago Bulls (1984)
#2: Sam Bowie
#3: Michael Jordan
Detroit Pistons → Miami Heat (2003)
#2: Darko Miličić
#5: Dwyane Wade
Atlanta Hawks → New Orleans Hornets (2005)
#2: Marvin Williams
#4: Chris Paul
Portland Trail Blazers → Seattle SuperSonics (2007)
#1: Greg Oden
#2: Kevin Durant
Minnesota Timberwolves → Golden State Warriors (2009)
#5 & #6: Ricky Rubio, Jonny Flynn
#7: Stephen Curry
Sacramento Kings → Dallas Mavericks (2018)
#2: Marvin Bagley III
#3: Luka Dončić
Some of the draft misses aren't consecutive picks, e.g. Wade instead of Melo for the Milicic miss and Paul instead of Deron for the Marvin Williams miss, because Milicic and Marvin are obviously the busts and Melo-Bosh-Deron can't be considered as real misses, but I tried to look at the more prominent missed player.

The Pistons could be in this multiple times:
Debated between:
Luke Kennard vs Donovan Mitchell
Stanley Johnson vs Devin Booker
Killian Hayes vs Tyrese Haliburton
It still hurts…

Yeah true. I'm trying to find the most historical ones, Hayes or Wiseman (and a bunch of other guys) over Haliburton might be close to that.
Funny to note that the Pacers feature so many guys from the 2020 lottery. Haliburton, Nesmith, Toppin, even Wiseman in their roster, and they used to have Jalen Smith.

Players who ever played for a franchise that was once in the ABA? Of course you could use any season for these players be it ABA or NBA

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES THREAD - 2/9/2025
Have we done a Welcome draft, sort of a mirror of the Farewell draft? Should be pretty straightforward - only the first eligible season with a franchise can be selected.
