First post of this thread always has our usernames in quotes.
I did make the deal official.

No you didn't. Here is what you said.
Spens1 wrote:

How about something like Ricky Rubio and Cole Aldrich for Lance Thomas, Kyle O'Quinn and Courtney Lee?

I'm intrigued, i'll get back to you but it certainly sounds like a solid deal

I waited a while to hear back from you on this. You never confirmed this deal (I checked to see if you did repeatedly). Negotiations didn't start again until well after I dealt for Oladipo. The Oladipo deal made acquiring Lance Thomas redundant. Also, by that point I was much more hesitant to move Rubio which is why we did the Okafor for O'Quinn deal instead.
Spens1 wrote:Also as for a replacement, I could send Payton your way as i said before. Payton + Thomas + Kuz for Rubio.

Payton seems like the type of P.G Thibs would use anyway.

Payton looks like he's a free agent after next season so while I like his upside I can't do it. I wouldn't want Payton to just be a rental but he's still has more to prove to justify an extension let alone how big of an extension.
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential :tooth and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

Hey Bully,

Did you catch this post from me (I think it was late Friday night)? Please give it a look, and Happy Memorial Day!

What are your plans regarding Furkan Korkmaz? Would you entertain trading his rights, and if so, what's your asking price? If we're in the same ballpark, I'd be very interested. Assuming, that is ...

First off sports, I'm sorry to bug you on your MUCH deserved Memorial Day Weekend break (and I'm not expecting you to reply to this until next week)!

As his agent, can you let me know if Korkmaz would join the Pistons next season if we were to trade for his rights?

Thank you both, and have a great long weekend!

Hey buddy same to you. i think our plans on Korkmaz depend a little bit on what we hear about his intentions for coming over this year or not. We really like him and think he has only increased in value over the last year but would still prefer he spend another year abroad developing. If he does force the issue and come over this year, we are more likely to move him.

We'll have to see what his agent (i.e. sportscrazy) says about his intentions, but like I said, I'm very interested. Would you consider Boban and a protected first rounder (protection to be negotiated)?

I'm willing to offer a lottery protected 1st in 2018 for Pau. I would also offer out 2018 2nd if you can take on Ish Smith as well.

Having just taken on Pau, I don't have room for Boban but let's revisit generally once we hear from Sportscrazy.

Sounds like a plan. Just out of curiosity, how much cap space do you have left after absorbing Pau?

Rough estimate - $35 million? A lot of that I want to spend on a renegotiate and extend on Covington so I guess it's possible I could still take on Boban. This is one of those times I'm torn between what I would do and trying to keep realism. If it were just me, I would definitely take on Boban but I'm not sure if Colangelo would really take all of these cap dumps which might go against his mirage of tanking being over.

I hear ya on the challenge of staying "realistic." I had absolutely zero plans to push for immediate contention or to spend the way I'm spending, but that's the way the board fell, so I just ran with it! That's why I'm trying to move Boban, 'cuz it's the easiest way for me to stay out of the luxury tax (which I'm assuming SVG would try to do, at least for one more year).

In any case, I'm off to a BBQ for a few hours. Enjoy the rest of your evening and I'll touch base again after we hear from sports about Korkmaz's intentions. Cheers!
