  • 2nd best season for both of them and save FGAs for a mediocre 3+D wing from the 00s who was born in the US but is also eligible in the asian pool

Hey, no Israeli wing is mediocre

Dr Positivity wrote:Kind of second guessing not going Rubio/Ingles/Bird/Dirk/Embiid. I was concerned about being pretty soft in the middle on defense and it'd be real bad against someone like Giannis, but it's hard to deny the talent of Bird, Dirk and Embiid.

I was almost certain you would have drafted Steph which is the primary reason I drafted him in the 4th round instead of waiting a bit longer. I then thought you would have drafted Dragic and Bird. I'm very high on CP3, but he's nowhere near as good as Bird.

I was seriously considering Bird too, especially since Dragic was falling. Opted for Steph cause I already had Peja at SF and didn't want to start Giannis at Center.

I originally thought I was going to have a combo like Dragic and Kobe but when I looked at the FGAs closer (5 more than Paul/Deng) it was cutting it too thin in a pool with no US role players, in addition to not being totally flawless fit wise. With 0 intl 3 and D PGs to put with Kobe, the only low cost PG I could find that fits him was the spanish Raptors PG but that pick could have single handily iceberg'ed my Titanic in the wrong playoff matchup. 86 Bird is 1.2 FGA less than 08 Kobe which makes it slightly more manageable, but I also don't love the defense of that combo with Ingles and Dirk, I think Bird and Rubio and more FGAs would have been the route for him. Playing Wade at PG was also an option but I don't like him as much with Deng and having a true playmaker is nice for Dirk and Embiid.

Curry falling to me would have been GG but I saw it coming you would take him with Giannis, Peja and Petrovic.

Peak Peja - I think Curry's playoffs in 16 diminished his regular season upgrade.

The twist wasn’t as hard to navigate as I expected. Locking down Africa early helped I suppose. I also think saving FGA by making Magic my USA pick helped smooth things over too.

Yeah, I had my eyes on Steph since the moment I drafted Giannis. Bird is an elite shooter in his own right, but he isn't on Steph's level. The idea was to build the ultimate shooting team around Giannis.

Speaking of elite shooters, the spanish Raptors PG is so underrated! For the record, he's practically a member of the 50-40-90 club. He finished the 2008 season with a 51.9-42.9-90.8 shooting split, yet he didn't officially make the club cause he was 5 free throws short of the minimum required number (=125 free throws). He then broke the NBA record the following season shooting 98.1% (=151/154) from the FT line!

Peak Peja - I think Curry's playoffs in 16 diminished his regular season upgrade.

The same goes for Peja though.

2004 playoffs (his best regular season)
TS%: 48.8
WS/48: .091
BPM: +0.7
VORP: 0.3
PER: 14.6

2003 playoffs (second best regular season)
TS%: 60.6
WS/48: .198
BPM: +5.5
VORP: 0.9
PER: 21.6

You can leave a list to someone. I'd be happy to make the pick for you, but I'm about to go to bed as well. We are in similar time zones. I bet someone who will likely be online in the next few hours would be happy to help.

-----------------------------

Btw, feel free to skip me when my turn comes. I'll make my final pick when I wake up. It's slim pickings at the tail end of the draft, especially in this talent pool.

You can't take two players from the same country

The bottom was the place to be in this one IMO- just a very strong overall position.

Yea i probably should have taken Dirk or Joel. Still pretty happy how my team turned out
