Thats like saying, "So Sacramento, altough you only won 17 games this season, just a few years back you were a pretty decent squad, so we're not giving you as many ping pong balls as Memphis, who really never has been worth a damn". I think you guys thought way too much into this and should have stuck with a statistical analysis. With that being said, you both are right no one will ever be happy in these games because its very hard to be fair (not impossible). If you wanna even things up a bit, maybe the bottom 4 drafters in the first round should get a first round bye :)... Just a thought ;)

Er, what on earth are you talking about bro? We just looked at scenarios for each person's top 3 picks (their 1st, their 2nd, and their franchise pick. I didn't look at names until I had nearly all the order determined.

CB would you do this deal:

We swap franchise player draft picks [I trade #6 to you for #9]
We swap picks in 03 [I trade #9 to you for #1]
We swap draft picks in 06 [I trade #1 to you for #4]

?

I think you'd get a core you'd be quite comfortable with if you have the #6 overall and #1 in 06 ;)

I pick last? It was deemed that I have a strong draft class? I pick 2nd in the 97 draft where I end up with T-Mac (and I'd like to get out of the 1st round) being the best player available and then I have the 1st in the 07 draft where I end up with Durant which is good. But then all of my other picks are late. Egh whatever, do I then pick 1st in the 92-96 class?

I'd do that granted I get Roy.

03 is deep.......dropping form 1st to 9th is huge......Maybe swap me places in 01 and you got a deal

Mascot, even though it may have been a good idea, it was a joke, so I won't take any positive credit for it. It does kind of make a bit of sense as far as bracketing, it still doesn't do anything to bolster those who might have gotten a raw deal. It may in fact lessen their chances, because then they are playing a team in the second round who has already shown they have a good team in the first round by beating the original opponents.

Maybe bracketing the seeds in an order in which compensates the 9,10,11,and 12th spot by matching them up with some of the weaker team versus having them match up with the Lebrons, and Kobe's.

I thought that the first round 1997 was 1997 and prior.....so you could take Kidd or Shaq.....

Hmmm... can't do 01, my 01 pick is instrumental to the make up of my team [since I know who dcash will pick so I know who I can get and I can tell you he's from France].

Any other year you want to swap?

Oh and blackice, every draft year you can draft players drafted that year or ANY year prior so with your first pick in the 97 draft you can pick anybody drafted in 92-96 as well.

Not sure why you think Cash is automatically going for Gasol Teddy...

And yes, it's anyone that entered the league 97 or earlier in that "97" draft.

CellarDoor wrote:Taken from a previous discussion:

For those of you who aren't entirely sure what we're talking about I'll give you a quick overview.

Last time we had 16 teams, the 16 playoff teams from last year. Each participant had a team and was able to protect one franchise player to begin their team with. For instance: if you picked Cleveland you would protect Eric Snow (kidding). Now, i'm not sure how thrilled with this idea I am since it gives some teams (Cleveland, LA, San Antonio) huge advantages to begin with, but we can discuss this.

From there the draft began, the "twist" is that you can only draft people taken in the year we are drafting or earlier. Since we need 15 man rosters, I would suggest going back to 93-94 for our first draft. Using RNGs, we determined each year's draft order, but each person could only have a finite number of #1 and #2 picks. Trades were allowed, but had to be approved and could not be finalized until all pieces of the trade had been drafted. (in other words, you couldn't trade your first pick in the 96 draft for someone's 1st pick in the 00 draft until both pieces had already been picked).

the idea was to have the 8 teams in a conference have a bracket-style tournament with the other conference voting on their match-ups. What I'd like to do this time is, as Gremz mentioned, have a judging panel of some sort. I wouldn't mind having an open voting process for all RGM posters, but if I were you guys, I'd prefer to have a few good members judging. The problem may simply be participation in that instance though and trying to find 3 judges (2+ me I guess) who will commit to doing it as well as 16 active participants.

Like I said, I'm not sure I have time to go through the trade negotiations and draft portion of a game GM a Team to conclude though as a lot of your most active posters have a lot of balls in the air right now.

Another poster suggested starting a year or 2 later and having a FFA, but i'm not sure I like that as a few people would be getting their high picks in the draft as leftovers. Instead, I'm thinking that we perhaps restrict it to 12 teams and draft back to 97 and run 12 man rosters.

To begin with, i'm going to say 12 teams, if someone can come up with something equitable that involves more teams, then i'm open to it as I really don't like having 3 team finals. We'll roll with 3 judges, one of which will be me.

Glancing over the original thread I see BBHoffa, Gremz, Jud's, BlackIce, MJallday, and SS interested. I'm going to keep spots open for Vintage and Cash until I hear from them at least, which brings it to 8 people, meaning I need at least 6 more (counting 2 judges) and as many as 10 more. Post your interest officially here please ((that includes those I've listed)

OK so the final deal would be:

We swap franchise player draft picks [I trade #6 to you for #9]
We swap picks in 03 [I trade #9 to you for #1]
We swap draft picks in 06 [I trade #1 to you for #4]
We swap draft picks in 98 [I trade #6 to you for #11]

??

I accept this deal.
