Is that not just a regular three degrees draft, or am I misunderstanding?

I enjoy the premise but it is a divisive one.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
Random game:
40 roles players pre selected, then randomly assigned to 10 teams - 4 each.
Then we build back wards
1 player any form not of the next 3
1 All defensive or all rookie
1 All NBA
1 MVP
Call it a backwards build draft?
We could tweak it

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
How about we do a core game, but it can be any core with one restriction - only one first team all-NBA player per core.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I'd love us to experiment with an extremely restricted pool tbh. Not sure about the exact concept, but the last 2 games have been refreshing. Big change from reshuffling the same group of players again and again.

At some point I suggested just banning every player who had ever been on a team that won a game (maybe with an exception). It was…not well-received.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
Just an idea for a relatively shallow pool quite similarly to last few games.
The International MVP Franchises: Rockets, Dallas, Nuggets, Bucks, Suns, Philly.
Limiting to 80s an on without including Kareem and Wilt seems ideal here.
Just on a general note, a way to replicate the restrictiveness of the last few drafts is to introduce more per decade restrictions. In the above it would be something like including only 10s Bucks, 20s Bucks, 20s Nuggets, 00s Dallas, 90s Rockets, 20s Philly, 00s Suns which would be too restricted in our case though.

Another something we can do is using the franchise decades for each MVP since 2000:
76ers (00s, 20s)
Spurs (00s)
Timberwolves (00s)
Suns (00s)
Mavericks (00s)
Lakers (00s)
Cavaliers (00s, 10s)
Heat (10s)
Bulls (10s)
Thunder (10s)
Warriors (10s)
Rockets (10s)
Bucks (10s, 20s)
Nuggets (20s)

Not a specific idea, but I think we need to go back to more cross-era pools (70s-90s, 80s-00s, etc). It's a simple way to shake up the pool, and can also be paired with another restriction.

We could go seasons rather than franchises. Also, Duncan should be available if Hakeem is.

Woah. I never sat down and did the math. It's really been 6 years since an American MVP has been crowned. Wow.
I get that only 3 different players won those 6 MVPs but that's still crazy. Last year we didn't even have a SINGLE first place vote for an American player.
I do think that calling Tim Duncan international is a little questionable, though I get why you'd want him there.
He was born on US territory. He's not like Hakeem where he was born in a different country then became a citizen.

I operate on my phone, so it’s hard for me to do all the quotes and playoffs and everything. I can sticky and unsticky posts, and help with that end of games though. Someone should start it though!

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
Pie in the sky - development idea - for me or for others:
Premise: There is a regular draft game activity and since there are a decent number of repetitive tasks that need to be performed to compete. Let's simplify and automate as much of the administration as we can, adding enhancements where possible, to produce a better overall product.
Proposal:
1. Create a fantasy draft tool interface
2. Require that a phone number and/or email address into an encrypted notification service that lets you know the expected time until your next pick every time someone makes a new pick.
3. Have the UI automatically pull in player photo and certain statistics into a comparison format.
4. Link into co-pilot or ChatGPT to originate some of the baseline narratives for comparison.
5. Allow for the option of making bets via Venmo or Cash App based on the outcomes
6. Link into the NBA2K ratings of players and their capabilities to show a video game simulation of the matchup, using a monte carlo approach.
7. UI includes dropdown menus that dynamically update depending on the rules of the game.

To mix it up - Two Centers and Two PGs starting, all four must be from different decades, chosen seasons at least five years apart.
No restrictions to all four players but no other player on team can be allnba and allstar in chosen season.
Be a good blend of different era stars and players and aim to find good fit between both bigs and both guards. The rest of the team vital for matchups.

Have we done franchises that never won a title?
The Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans have not won an NBA title.
Barkley
Nash
Dwight
Durant
Harden
Malone
Kawhi
George
ANT
Paul
I'm probably forgetting some of the "alphas". Seems like an interesting pool that would stretch drafters on guys like Hill, Mitchell, Zion, Morant, etc.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
Alternatively, we could limit franchise titles to 10. For example, if I draft Duncan I am charged 5 titles for the 5 titles won by the Spurs. Steph would cost 7 for the Warriors franchise titles. (This is in addition to FGA limits).
