As of noon EST tomorrow trading will be suspended for 12 hours while GMs get their roster pages up to date.

IF everyone has them up to date by then there will be no hold on trading.

My roster is up to date except my Dirk deal.

Glen Davis (can't be tradeed for three days) is on the block for a defensive type of center that fits with Dirk.
Think like Ben Wallace / Marcus Camby / Emeka Okafor / ect.

I have about 4 million in capspace as well as Damion James and Sundiata Gaines.

Looking to move McGee for a SG/SF. Looking for a pretty decent caliber one since young Cs like McGee are tough to come by.

I'm willing to trade Thaddeus Young plus picks for an upgrade at PF. Same thing goes for NIck Young.

I don't think there should be a veto system in the 1st place, I know if I made a trade that could put me over the top, and it got vetoed, I'd be pissed too.

And as for the trade. Ellis, prospects, 6 1st rounders, cap space for a 33 year old Dirk. I don't see how it's that bad. Dirk has about 2-3 more years of elite play left in him.

I disagree. Keeps the balance of the game. And I can see why the Dirk deal was vetoed. A couple of late first round picks doesn't make up the difference between Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki.

On the veto system I see no problem with that. Would I veto the deal no but when putting out my ranking a low place would reflect the GM job at this pt

I never vetoed, cause well I just dont care. Havent won one of theses games and dont think I probably ever will.

but heres my take.

With the team that NJ has and moving to brooklyn getting Dirk just makes sense business wise, if you can get him you do it and thats that. Now if it was like Tim Duncan i can see it being veto worthy but Drik will make NJ money, and trust me in real life its about making money and not basketball when it comes to a GMs job.

those 5 firsts? well most of them are gonna be in the 20s after this trade. So im pretty sure the GM in real life would not care.

agree that vetoes are need, but see no reason this deal is vetoed.

What are the reasons for veto? who do they think is getting ripped?

Dallas is rebuilding and wants picks, this deal nets him a ton, plus a player he can flip for more

NJ sells every pick they have, breaks up a stud guard duo for a older vet PF. This also makes NJ no longer a player in next summers FA market. IMO, NJ is risking more here then Dallas

maybe the 6 vetoing GMs can man up and post reasons for veto?

I don't see why vetoes are needed. Everyone's been complaining recently about realism, but there's no veto system in the NBA. If we keep it though, I think the auto cancel limit should be 10-15 vetoes. 5 GMs out of 30 isn't a big enough sample size.

+1 on the no veto in NBA (but actually Stern can veto a deal if he thinks it will hurt the league)

I'd be fine with the commish or an outside party stepping in in serious cases, but I've yet to see a deal here requiring that.

So someone trades LeBron James for a bag of potato chips, and it should be allowed? There are very few times when trades do end up getting vetoed, and end up getting denied. And most of the time it is for very good reasoning.

If there is any changing to it, I think it should be after so many vetoes, the trade should be sent to three old posters who used to play these games and they decide.
