8,2 mil *1.25 +100k = #10,350,000. Money works.

We do this, because we didn't feel a need for Alvin or Murray anymore and we got a player that's going to be moved soon.
Confirmed. We get a backup SF in Murray and a starting PG in Williams. Williams is a terrific defender, who has good numbers in 13/3/5.

Pick won't be that valuable because it will be late. Hate to lose Alston, but we shed Cliff's and Eric's contracts + Grant Hill is a solid player.
Accepted. Magic medical staff couldn't heal Hill's ankle injury in the later years and we needed to shed salary to bring in talent around McGrady. Alston is a young PG who will be apart of the future with Armstrong and Vaughn getting older. Cliff still has some game left and will fill as an upgrade up front. Great trading Toronto.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns have a big splash trade to announce.

Bucks out:
Gary Payton - $13,079,593
Michael Redd - $3,000,000
Desmond Mason - $1,235,880
= $17,315,473

Suns out:
Ron Artest - $1,904,860
Lamond Murray - $4,125,000
Austin Croshere - $6,960,000
Jonathan Bender - $3,226,745
PHX 2004 unprotected 1st
PHX 2005 unprotected 1st
= $16,216,705

Gary Payton was not happy to be in Milwaukee, and soon after acquiring him it became evident to us that he would not return next year. Rather than letting him walk for nothing, we decided to ship him to bring in a better fit. Ron Artest is one of the better scorers in this league, and you are not going to find a better perimeter defender. We see stardom in this 23 year old's future. We loved Mike Redd and D-Mase and they will be missed, but we like Ron's potential more. Plus two unprotected 1sts gives us some ammo moving forward.
We get a lot of pieces for Artest, who we really didn't want to move. Mason is a young, solid starting SF. 14/7/2. Payton is 20/4/8 this season, and gives us the best backcourt in the league. Redd is a star in the making (27ppg at his peak). For now he is 15/4 on 44% from 3. Good trading Riot!

#22: GSW and POR have a trade to announce:

TO POR:
Earl Boykins ($512,435)
Antwan Jamison ($10,067,750)
Latrell Sprewell ($11,937,500)

Total: 22,517,685

TO GSW:
Rasheed Wallace ($14,926,166)
Sam Cassell ($4,850,000)
Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje ($512,435)

Total: 20,288,601 * 1.25 + 100,000 = 25,460,751

Deal works.

POR accepts. This was really hard for me to do, as one of the first players I ever started watching was Sam Cassell. Cassell is also quite the PG, but this was too good to pass up. Jamison is a huge upgrade on Sheed. 22/7 this year, then 20/9 3 years in a row, then has a couple 22/9 years in there too, and is still solid today. He brings a guy who I can run my offense through, and who is only 26. Sprewell brings a nice 3rd option to the table, a clutch guy with a 16/4/4 stat line the next 2 years. Boykins is an average starting point till I can find a better replacement. Great dealin with ya, GS.

The Warriors accept. I get an awesome PG in Cassell at a great contract and Wallace, a great PF/C

2004 1st (unprotected)
2003 2nd
total: $6,199,435
LAC outgoing:
Elton Brand $4,895,656

Brand is a beast. 19/13/3 on 2.5 blocks, he creates a young, dominant defensive frontcourt with Tyson Chander.

Confirmed. I get a great starting PG with 2 years +28ppg

Trade #24

Memphis - Minnesota announce Trade

Prior to the recent lockout announce in the REAL GM world, the Minnesota Timberwolves announce the trade of SG/SF Wally Szczerbiak |2,933,187|to the Memphis Grizzlies for the expiring contract of SG Michael Dickerson and the Grizzlies worst 2003 1st round draft pick*
Dickerson is a $5.5M expiring contract, but MN is well below the $50M cap with the trade of Kevin Garnett, etal. (they were under even with Garnett). The deal works

Memphis was pleased to acquire a talent like Szczerbiak who will start on their scrabble team and get valuable minutes as a 17ppg / 5 rbs - 40+% 3 pt specialists for the Grizzlies.

(now between HOU/SACTO/GSW or CHI - deal to follow)

Trad 25

Memphis / Golden State Blockbuster

The Memphis Grizzlies have elected to move PF/C Pau Gasol rather than trying to match his price in free agency. It was announced today that an agreement was reached last night and submitted to the league office for approval that would send Gasol ($3.2), Jason Williams ($5.5), Stromile Swift ($3.643) and the Sacramento 2003 1st round pick to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for the best of their 2003 first round picks (both Top 5 protected - either GSW or CHI) and PG Sam Cassell, F Mike Dunleavy Jr and Center Erick Dampier. The salaries are about $12.332M / Mem to $ 14.5M from GSW. The 125% rule works and Memphis has enough capspace to absorb the difference.

The Grizzlies will have those player under contract for at least the next 2 seasons and feel they have gotten outstanding talent (2 Player with PER ratings over 20 and a Young Dunleavy who at at 6'9" can stretch the floor & play SG / SF - Just a smart kid with a great pedigree. In addition the Griz upgrade a 2003 1st round pick in what looks to be an outstanding draft.

Trade 26:
The Warrios and Suns have agreed to a trade
The Warriors receive:
PG Gary Payton:$13,079,593
SG Michael Redd: $3,000,000
Alton Ford $512,435
Total: $16,592,028
The Suns receive:
PG Jason Williams: $5,500,000
PF/C Rasheed Wallace: $14,926,166
Total: $20,426,166
$16,592,028 times 1.25=20.7>20,4

The Warriors happily agreed. While Wallace is an outstanding player, his contract is HUGE and with Gasol and Curry already in the front court, i couldn't afford to pay him that much. I also get a HOF PG in Gary Payton, who's still a great player w/a expiring contract. Redd is an awesome building block and forms a great inside, outside threat with Pau
Confirmed. Williams is 12/3/8 and can lead this team to the promised land with our solid frontcourt. Sheed is obviously the real prize here, he is an elite defender, with range that can space beside Shaq. Williams/Houston/Marion/Sheed/Shaq with Williams/Mason off the bench. Just need a backup PF/C and we are set.

Trade Approved please update.

Seattle, Indiana, Portland and Milwaukee have a blockbuster 4-team transaction to announce!

Blazers out:

Devean George ($4,545,000)
Chris Dudley ($1,030,000)
= $14,612,750 x1.25 = $19,553,437

Blazers in:
Damon Stoudemire ($12,375,000)
Jermaine O'Neal ($6,900,000)
Phoenix's 2005 1st
= $19,275,000

Bucks out:
Ron Artest ($1,904,860)
Damon Stoudemire ($12,375,000)
Phoenix's 2004 & 2005 1sts
= $14,279,860

Bucks in:
Milwaukee's 2003 unprotected 1st
Devean George ($4,545,000)
Chris Dudley ($1,030,000)
Erick Strickland - ($762,435)
Jamison Brewer - ($512,435)
= $6,820,000

Sonics out:
Milwaukee's 2003 unprotected 1st

Sonics in:
Ron Artest ($1,904,860)
Phoenix's 2004 1st
= $1,904,860

Pacers out:
Jermaine O'Neal ($6,900,000)
Erick Strickland - ($762,435)
Jamison Brewer - ($512,435)
x1.25 = $10,218,587

Pacers in:
Antawn Jamison $10,067,750
= $10,067,750

Players galore!!! Milwaukee does this trade to further work towards our rebuild. We feel like we now have 2 very good picks in the 2003 draft to find our franchise player.

Indiana reluctantly does this deal. Contract extension talks were not going so well between our management and Jermaine's people. We get a very productive replacement in Jamison who is locked up in a contract. J.O. is a superstar, but we like moving forward with Marbury/Harrington/Jamison as our core. Good dealing, Kees! This one was intense! lol

SEA accepts. We honestly feel that if Artest were in the 03 draft, he would be the third best player out of it. Solid 20 PPG scorer, plus the best perimeter in the league, all at age 23. We also get a future 1st.

POR accepts. We've wanted JO all game, and we finally got him. Putting him next to Carter is awesome. Stoudemire's return to Portland is also nice, because we were lacking a starting point. We feel that Stoudemire/Sprewell/Carter/O'Neal/Davis lineup to fight for a title this year and into the future. Great dealing, Riot.

Trade Approved thx showing math.

Indy's 2003 1st (Top-6 protected)

Warriors out:
Troy Murphy ($1,408,680)
Chris Mills ($6,000,000)
Jiri Welsch ($1,234,080)
= $8,642,760 x 1.25 = $10,803,450

Golden State has the cap room to absorb the rest of the salary.

This is a sad day in Indiana. OUr two most iconic players, Reggie Miller and Jermaine O'Neal, are packing their bags. This marks the end of a hall of fame career for Reggie in Indiana. He will be a Pacer for life in our eyes, but we needed to make this move to add some talent to our new frontcourt.

The Warriors agree to this trade. I hate giving up Murphy who is a double-double threat, but he wasn't going to get many minutes behind Curry and Gasol. In return, I rid myself of Mills's contract and pick up Reggie Miller, one of the best shooters of all time

Clippers get:
Rashard Lewis($6,233,766)

Supersonics get:
Miller($ 2,460,709)
03 2nd round pick

We need some shooters and I think Lewis is the perfect guy to give that to our team, he has great size, and ability to space the floor for my slashers

Sonics accept. Young PGs are hard to find, and with the addition of Artest, we didn't need Shard. Good to put him to use to grab a PG, which I needed.

Trade #33

SACRAMENTO AND CHICAGO TRADE ANNOUNCED

The Chicago Bull's made a surprising move in sending their newly acquired WA Wizzards 1st round pick and 3rd year SG Jamal Crawford to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Marcus Camby, Doug Christie and Hedo Turkaglu. The Bulls take on $14.3M in salaries while only sending our $2.026, but since they are only at $29M they have the space to absorb the additional costs.

The Kings were reluctant to move Camby and Hedo as both are young prospects who will enjoy great futures in the Association. In addition, Christie has been a glue guy, defensive stopper and streak shooter. However, Sacramento felt that Jamal Crawford brought those same talents and expressed a desire to be back on the West coast (grew up in the State of WA). In addition, like Chicago previously expressed, this is one of the best draft classes we have seen in years and the Wizzard's pick might bring an outstanding talent.

The Bulls were aggressive negotiators, but in the end a fair deal was struck and the Kings are please to accept this trade. ~Nice dealing KBI~
Confirmed. A future DPY in Camby, a 2002-03 NBA All-Defensive (1st) player in Christie and Hedo who is a young prospect with great size and ball handling skills will really help this young CHI team going forward.

#37: POR and WAS have a trade to announce:

TO POR:
Jalen Rose ($12,072,500)

TO WAS:
2003 LAL 2nd
Earl Boykins ($512,435)
Latrell Sprewell ($11,937,500)

Total: 12,449,935

Close enough, deal works.

POR accepts. Boykins was a good prospect, but McInnes and Stoudemire can hold down the PG just fine. Rose is a beast this year, 22/5/4 and good D, perfect compliment to Carter. I also think that his early retirement (33) can be partially avoided, because he retired partially because he played on bad teams. Playing with a young JO and VC, I think he can have a few more solid years into his mid 30's.

Washington accepts. While we liked having Rose, who's a really good player, but we decided to downgrade to Sprewell, because we needed a better PG.

MEMPHIS - MINNESOTA AND SACRAMENTO REACH AGREEMENT

The Memphis Grizzlies have acquired SG/SF Anfernee - Penny Hardaway (12,375,000) in a trade involving the Timberwolves and the Sacramento Kings. In return, the Grizzlies will send SG Wesley Person (7M) to MN and SF/SG Wally Szczerbiiak (2,933,187) to the Kings. Sacramento sends PF Keon Clark (4.546M) and Mateen Cleaves (1.441) and MN's 1st round pick in 2003 (which was already lottery protected). Minnesota will send Backup PG Troy Hudson to the Kings (2M).

MN- out $12.375 + $2M out ($14.375) - $ 7M + $4.546M & $ 1.441M In $13.007)
SAC - out $4.546 + $1.441M ($6.007M) - $ 2M (Hudson) + $2,933,187 (Wally) ($4.933M)in
MEM - out $7M - In $12.375. MEM is at $44,611,421 (gives them $5.389M capspace needed - $5.375M used)

The Grrzzlies accept this deal as Penny is one of the most athletic wings in the league, While his knee injury has reduced his explosiveness - and PG quickness - he still possesses great court vision, passing skills and the handles that make him a unique talent. Wally provided outstanding offensive skills, but could not bring all the skills that Penny offers.

When reached for comment, the Kings were delighted with their new acquisitions. Both Troy Hudson and Wally Szczerbiak fill positions of need on our depth charts and will be critical elements in our championship run. Hudson (the Laker Killer) has created problems for our chief nemesis for years and we look forward to his derailing Kobe and company in the future. Szczebiak can flat out shoot and plays a smart - team oriented style that is the perfect compliment to this Kings roster. The loss of the lotto protected pick may have been no loss and players who were moved were not going to be major contributors with the other moves we have made (Hudson and Joe Smith).

This was a complicated deal, but a win win move for all parties involved. Great dealing with the Minnesota GM particularly who made this deal come together.

Minn accepts. We knock out two birds with one stone. Clear much needed cap space and retrieve our pick. Great dealing!
