1. karm offered to be commish, and set a schedule. If you wanna play by his schedule sign up. If not, don't. but trying to add things then getting on his case since he does not want to run a game under your new schedule is not fair to karm.

2. why would you need trading pre FA? real NBA will not have this, this game was supposed to be what you would do if you were the GM of the NBA team following the CBA rules.

3. game always is dead during holidays, it would not be smart to run a draft over holidays, you will get a ton of autopicks

4. even though I can not play, karm's schedule is the smartest idea. run a quick game for people to get their fix, then once NBA season is underway and new rosters are set, start a new 2012 game with the new CBA and rosters in mid January, then have 2012 draft and next summers FA included in that game.

again, just my 2 cents

You pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as my thought process goes. The NBA is going to be in a fast and furious free agency that the there will be limited opportunities to actually make deals, so why should we waste time for something that seems so trivial. Looking at the way my game ends and the next one begins, we'd be looking at a new game sometime after New Years which IMO ideal. We miss the major hollidays (Christmas & New Years) and doesn't bother people. Not to mention, it gives us a chance to understand the CBA to use in future games.

The plan is I'll post the rules hopefully sometime later tonight and update the order. I'll assign teams hopefully sometime tomorrow, looking to likely be around 2 PM EST ASSUMING we do actually have 30 GMs signed up. I've got a Calculus test I haven't studied for, but give me a sec and hopefully I'll have the rules up in the next couple of hours.

Thanks for organizing this game! One question: Is it possible to use the amnesty clause on players that you aquired through trade?

No its not. CBA states that you can use amnesty only on players you had when the CBA was signed, good question tho.

On to my team now. Portland will be amnestying Roy, then looking to win now. I like LMA and wouldnt mind building around him, but he isnt untouchable. Batum+starter OTB for a better starter

Okay, is there a deadline for using this clause or could we use it whenever we want?

San Antonio 8-)
Sned in your offers at ownager20@gmail.com. Anyone is tradeable. If you want Duncan and Manu, you'll have to give up a lot though.
I'll post my roster in few hours time.

Golden State current status:

I have a deal in place (waiting for trades to be up) that IMO fixes my starting backcourt issue.

I'm looking to see if there are any useful offers for either Charlie Bell (~$4M expiring) or Andris Biedrins ($9M/yr for 3 more years). I'm looking for rotation player(s) (anywhere but PG, where I'm set) who make less than Biedrins (or a decent but overpaid starting big who makes more than Biedrins, I have some cap room to work with).

The deal can be for either Bell or Biedrins (the other gets amnestied). I'd strongly prefer not to be adding assets (aside from some cap room for a starting big). The small exception is reserve PG, where I have Lin and Jenkins and only need to keep one.

I have that same problem with #21 Nolan Smith, I'm just doing what last years #21 was, and using that. I'm assuming we are still doing 100% of previous years, because that's what we have done the past few games.

EDIT: can we start waiving UNG contracts, offering QO's, ect now in the FA thread?

Here's what I found

10. Rookies
First-year salary amounts for first round picks to be set at or about levels shown in 2005 CBA for 2010-11 season until reduction in the rookies scale is proportional to reduction to overall system (i.e., approx. 12% lower than under the 2005 CBA). First-year salary amounts in future seasons' rookie scales to increase by a percentage to be determined (between 3.5% to 4.5%). Year-to-year increases within each season's scale to increase by 4.5% in years 2 and 3 and by the percentages set forth in the 2005 CBA rookie scale for year 4.

The Orlando Magic:
Everyone is avialable, yes even Dwight. However, you'd have to take back Turkoglu's contract too.

Yitur asked if UFA could be included in S&T deals. I would like to know if you can waive UFAs and eliminate their cap holds on your roster for Pre FA cap space? Also - Do Bird Rights apply to UFA? It was my understanding that a player could accept a QO - play out his contact and the original team would have no rights to that player so he could determine his value on the open market.

I think the answer is NO to both our questions, but would like a ruling so the game is consistent.

I believe we've done that in previous games. As for the other questions, I don't know.

I do agree that there is a lot of precedence of waiving of UFA cap holds and I assume will be done now. I also would like to clarify that we are able to exercise the Amnesty and waive FA to determine whether we are going into the game with cap space or if the teams cap situation is determined prior to the amnesty - FA waivers? Makes a significant difference in who gets cut.

Finally, I did read a CBA article in which one of the Experts thought a good deal would be for Atlanta to trade Joe Johnson for someone and cut the guy they traded for - so I think the new CBA allows you to amnesty players you trade for - although it may not be allow in this game as the real deal give you 10 years to use the 1 time amnesty (or 6 if they opt out of the CBA).
