The “ only one franchise” thing adds multiple superstars to this pool along with a few high end secondary pieces.

I considered keeping that spot open but I didn’t think it was SO deep that it was worthwhile to pass on a BPA with the third pick.

Probably would have taken Kawhi second, also considered the guy Pop built his career on.

Category 2: A player selected in the 1998-1999 season, must play at least 50% of the games in this season (i.e. 25 games)

Does this mean anyone who played in that season, but we have to use that season?

Shaq and Giannis are a freaky pair and a freaky fit. But I couldn't resist.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Yeah the fit might be a lesser sum of its parts

If I had the second to last pick I absolutely would have passed on Giannis/Shaq with the assumption that one would be there when it came back to me.

Would have taken the best player who couldn’t overlap with either guy category-wise. Which might have been KD.

So hey, joke woulda been on me I guess.

I drafted quickly between bells so I didn't have a chance to reference my google doc. Decided to get a little kooky with Wemby. I actually like his fit next to Duncan but we'll see

I did assume it would span Pop’s coaching career though.

Playing the draft board didn't feel viable here. Grab the second MVP and hope for the best. Nothing but franchise picks from here on out.
