We will start with roster as they are now; the first few months anyone can be traded (including expirings such as wally, jason collins, marion, or whoever else there is); we will then conduct the draft sometime in June and free agency in July and then we will proceed onto the following season.

I was thinking for picks you can trade anything from 2013 picks and earlier

Wouldn't it be better/more realistic if we simply started where the league is at today.

We can run a mock lotto using results from the current standings (or whenever's) and go into free agency using whatever the current roster situations are. Cause if we went back in time (to before the deadline) then shouldn't the deadline trades be voided?

It wouldn't make sense to go back in time.

But we have to do the 2009 draft correct? If so, I'll take a challenge with the Washington Wizards.

For upcoming Draft in 09 we should wait for season over then use ESPN's lottery simulator or wait for real draft lottery...we can trade until that time?

we cant really use the real draft lottery or a sim cause the teams will be different, whos to say in real life mid season that Phoenix decided to blow it up and trade amare, nash and shaq?

they wold probably be picking 5th or something and not 14th.

siming it on 2k9 worked well last game.

Right, but the season is pretty much over.

Suppose we start on next Monday (13th), by then, the regular season will only have 2-3 games left. We could simply start from there and run a espn lotto. From that point on, trades begin, as they would in real life.

The rosters we start with, already in some degree reflect the real life team's intentions in the draft. Trading first then simming the lotto completely takes this away.

Simply start the league with a sim of the draft (espn lotto using the current standings) then start from there.

I'm a newcomer, and I'd like the Rockets if possible.

I know you all want to do the 2010 thing, but that will come next year.

right now we use this years salaries
1.)trade players back and forth up until the 2009 draft
2.) draft our players based on our teams and draft sim in 2k9
3.) do a free agency period for a couple of weeks.
4.) end the game around July 20th

then

5. beginning of october start a new game with 2009/2010 salaries
6. hold a draft around January
7. Free agency
8. end game end of march

then

9. start new game right away
etc..

we have always ran it for one season
running it for 2 seasons is just too long and by that time people have already done what they wanted with their team.

Yup, ok give me the wizards. A healthy wizards team, combined with a top 3 pick seems like a good base to work off of.
