Salaries work. Wolves lose a 20/10 all-star PF but are able to get a decent replacement in Carlos Boozer and also add much needed depth with Taj Gibson up front and Ronnie Brewer, who will provide much needed defense in the backcourt.

Accepted. We gain a younger more reliable All-Star PF. We lose some depth, but we're hoping to be able to rebuild that eventually.

In the meantime,

Rose/Watson
Carter/Bogans
Deng/Korver
Bosh/Thomas
Noah/Asik

Is pretty set.

Trade #98:

New Orlenas Hornets and Orlando Magic has reached an agreement:

Orlando gets:

Aaron Brooks ($4,250,000)

New Orleans gets:

2014 Orlando 1st round pick
2014 Denver 2nd round pick

The difference in salary is 4,250,000 and Orlando can absorb this, because we have about 16 million free money.
We do this, because it brings us a good PG under a good contract, while also, we keep ourselves under the cap by about 11-12 million.

NOH accepts. We were looking to drop Brooks, and we got exactly what we were looking for, which was cap space, a 1st and a 2nd. Now we have more cap space for this big FA class. 8-)

Assuming that ^ is trade number 99...

#100: BOS and NOH have a trade to announce:

TO BOS:
Anthony Morrow ($4,000,000)

TO NOH:
2013 DAL 1st
2013 BOS 2nd

BOS has enough cap to absorb the extra salary.

NOH accepts. We wanted a 1st and a 2nd for Morrow, and that's what we got. This leaves us with only Wade and Frye under contract, making us one of the biggest players in FA.

Toronto and Detroit have agreed to a trade:
Toronto Trades: Linus Klieza $4,600,000; Ed Davis $2,207,040; 2012 2nd (GSW)
Detroit Trades: Richard Jefferson $10,164,000, 2012 1st (DET)

EDIT: Toronto has about 12 million in cap space, so the salaries work.

The Raptors want Bradley Beal, and if the cost was taking on a bad contract I was going to do it because he is a PERFECT fit with my starting five. Jefferson also is a better shooter than Kleiza, and while Linus is a decent player, he just wasn't a great fit with my current core. Losing Davis hurts, but he wasn't in my future plans and I feel like the combination of Beal with DeRozan and Anthony Davis gives me a three-headed monster that should be extremely good in the next 2-3 years (in which time I'll still be collecting lottery picks).

We created cap space by giving up #6 whom we targetted for a PF but unfortunately no defensive minded PF were available. Took the best offer of defensive PF we have + dumping RJ contract for a smaller contract. Not what we had in mind but we'll make do with it.

#102: CHA and HOU have a trade to announce:

TO CHA:
Wes Johnson ($4,285,560)
John Salmons ($8,500,000)
Chris Duhon ($3,500,000)
2012 HOU 2nd (#50)

Total: 16,285,560

TO HOU:
Dante Cunningham ($2,900,000)
C.J. Miles ($5,000,000)
Amir Johnson ($6,000,000)
2012 CHA 2nd (#31)

Total: 13,900,000

CHA is far under the cap, and can take on the extra salary.

CHA accepts. When we lost out on the lottery, we set out to find another building block. Wes Johnson is that. I know he can be a perennial all-star in his career, and in CHA, he should get that chance. Salmons is a great vet, that I like, and can add a vet presence to the team. Duhon is solid as a 3rd stringer, in case the Kemba experiment doesn't work out, or in case of injury.

Houston accepts this deal. Our goal this offseason was to strengthen our PF/SF & SG positions and this trade accomplishes that in one move. We did not anticipate this deal, but felt is addressed so much and have always liked CJ Miles, Amir & Dante Cunningham. While Wes Johnson was a great person on and off the court, we are concerned with his overall athleticism. He brought a great attitude and knowledge, but had no outstanding skill and he seemed overmatched at the SF and lacked quickness to compete with elite SG. It is a issue that cannot be overcome at this level - ala Martell Webster. Both Duhon and Salmons were solid contributors, but we felt Miles and Cunningham would fit our system better at both ends of the court.

Trade #103.

Golden State out / Sacramento in:
Klay Thompson - $1,960,000

Sacramento out / GS in:
Delonte West - $2,000,000
2012 Sacramento 1st (#8)

Salaries obviously work.

GS accepts; we like the player we can get at #8 better than Thompson.

Shows an excellent feel having been around the game his entire life. Understands his limitations and plays within his game well ... Plays well off the ball. Stays active. Works hard to create scoring opportunities. Understands how to create shots for himself off the ball coming off screens ... Very good spot up shooter ... Comfortable handling the ball and can use the dribble to create shots ... Can use his left hand effectively ... Shows an advanced in between game with tear drops and the use of the glass ... Effectively uses pump fakes to draw defenders off balance ... Has perfect form on his shot and deep range. Squares to the basket. Quick, concise, fluid stroke with a high release ... Gets his shot off quickly and can do so without needing much space and He is very young

Washington and GS have a trade

Washington trades
T.Booker $1,385,280

GS trades
O.Casspi $2,277,306

Washington has the cap space to make this work

Washigton likes the rebounding that Booker offers but he will not be getting time behind Blatch and Tristan. We needed som depth at SF so Casspi fit nicely
2012 GMAT Christmas Edition : OKC Thunder

PG: DWill / Bayless
SG: DWade / VC / Grant Hill
SF: KD / MWP
PF: Ibaka / Landry
C : DMC / Dalembert / Kelly Olynyk

draft rites to Serey Karaey

DET/NYK trading picks

DET sends

Minny 2012 1st (#25)

NYK sends
OKC 2012 1st (#27)
NYK 2012 2nd + PHI 2012 2nd ( #47 + #48)

we're unsure who we can select but giving up the chance to choose 1 of 2 players and get 2 2nd rounder appeal to us.

NY confirms - we have a full roster - only 1 RFA and 2 backup UFA so we prefer the ugrade in quality over quantity of unknown players.

Cleveland and Boston have a trade to announce.

Cavs out:
Derrick Williams ($4,252,100)
Jimmer Fredette ($2,067,900)
Orlando's 2012 2nd
Sacramento's 2012 2nd
Washington's 2012 2nd
= $6,320,000

Celtics out:
Harrison Barnes (salary TBA?)
Luke Ridnour ($4,000,000)
= $4,000,000 x 1.25 = $5,000,000

Boston has the cap space to absorb the rest of the salary (which should work out anyways once Barnes' salary is determined). Cleveland does this deal because we really believe that Barnes has superstar potential. He has proven that he can defend well, shoot the ball well and most importantly take over games in the clutch. In this league you need a guy that can make the big shots for you and we believe Harrison can be that guy for us. We are thrilled with our core of Irving / Barnes / Drummond. Good dealing, Boston!

We accept this deal. We're still not sold on Barnes becoming a star
