The wizards would like to move into the first round using some of their 8 09 second round picks. Michael Finley, Matt Bonner, Tim Thomas are also on the block. All their contracts are 2 years in length. Looking for expiring contracts. Email Parre3ca@cmich.edu with offers.

That will be January 19. I suggest an advance list of prospects should be listed here at least a week before the draft.

Yeah I know those sites but what I mean is that can we have an official list duly approved by you dcash so that everyone gets an equal knowledge of who are available in the draft pool. Also if I may request can someone prepare a preliminary team power rankings so as team GMs get an idea of where will they pick in the draft.

yeah, thats part of the decision making i was looking to get help on. some questions that need to be answered:

1. will there be an actual draft or just determining the order of picks to establish pick value?
2. if there is a draft, how will eligible players be determined? will all players be made available, regardless of intent to declare?
3. free agency, how is that going to work? will there be a mock signing period? how will that work?

and after that...
4. how are we going to judge?

My thoughts:

I do think judging should be done based on two cut-off's, namely: post-season (prior to draft and free agency) and pre-season (after the draft and free agency). Determining the winner between contending teams should be based on post-season roster while determining the winner for rebuilding teams should be based on pre-season roster. Teams with Rasheed, Marion, Artest, etc (players with expiring contracts) will lose their advantage if selection of contending teams will be after the draft and FA. That said my award proposal are as follows:

Post-season awards:
1. dcash championship trophy :D - east vs. west. rank top 8 teams on each conference and do a head to head match-up just like actual NBA playoff. in a best of 7 series which team will win each match-ups solely based on available talent team's roster (coaching, x&o, etc aside).
2. top 10 best turnaround teams - performance measure should be roster after vs roster before. this is where teams like oklahoma and memphis (mile-high chance to make it to the playoff) gets their chance.
3. top 10 worst turnaround teams - the exact opposite of #2 above.

Pre-season awards:
1. top 10 best rebuilding teams - criteria should be set early
2. top 10 contenders
3. top 10 best turnaroud teams after draft and FA
4. top 10 worst turnaround teams after draft and FA.

1. I'd prefer to be able to pick, i have distinct picks in mind to round out my roster, and think it would help the rebuilding team be able to explain their future plans after drafting.
2. I'd imagine, since it's so far from the draft, all players should be made available.
3. I think previous players would have a better idea of how to work it than me.
4. i'm all for splitting it into three catergories:

- Contending
- Turnaround
- Rebuilding

For the remainder of the game Luke Ridnour, Drew Gooden, Aaron Gray and pending recent trade DeShawn Stevenson and Darius Songaila are all on the block. Will entertain all offers.

1 and 3. I think there should be a draft and a free agency period,
2. I think that players who are likely to declare should be in the draft, and ones who are unlikely should not be in the draft; we could look at some of the more popular mock drafts to get an idea of who's in and who's out. I prefer draftexpress.com and nbadraft.net but that's me and there might be better ones out there to help decide.
4. I think judging should be done like last time where we vote who has made their team better right now, and a 2nd judging of who has made there team better for the future.

Here's what I thought might be a good idea
Right Now: Have a 3rd activity check and players must reply by the 12th
January 12th: Have the list of eligible draft players made available.
January 19th: Have someone sim the league with the rosters as they are on the 19th to get draft order, find out who wins the championship, and who wins the awards in the season; then with the order of finishing, dcash can perform a lottery (maybe using espn lottery machine) to finalize draft order.
January 26th: Trading stops (gives a week for people to trade draft picks), the draft starts, and players become free agents
February 2nd: Free agent starts
February 9th: Voting begins.
-That's my two cents...

If you want I can put together a list of prospects for the draft.........I say anyone that looks like they have at least a 50% chance should be thrown into the pool if we do have it. Like Gremz I also have distinct picks in mind with my 2 lottery picks, but if we do not do the draft I can live with it (and just say what players I would have targeted). Also I think that free agency is a must. It worked out pretty well last time when the system was finally figured out--but here is my suggestion for that:

Do UFA's first, have groups of players that can have money offered to them ex. A-C goes Monday-Wednesday....etc. Then do the RFA's. My reasoning for this is simple, teams with RFA's that are really close to competing will often sign a really good player (say Carlos Boozer) that get's them to the upper thresh-hold of the salary cap, and then they will resign whatever elite prospects they have. Of course I don't really care what order you do it, I will have about 38 million in cap space anyway :)

I think that for prospects we should look at all three of the major sites (Draftexpress, nbadraft.net, espn) to determine who will come out; I would enjoy putting players into the pool, so if no one has any objection I will certainly get that done for you if you want.

The judging criteria last time worked really well, but so did the system Kingz used--so really I don't care how that works :)

I don't like the idea of the sim--too complicated and the results are to variable--ex. I simmed a season with the 03-04 Atlanta Hawks and they went 54-28......So that is no IMO, and having someone just do some power rankings would be much easier. Perhaps if we got four people in the game (2 from each conference) we could have each of them do the rankings and average it out--but again, I don't care as long as both my firsts are in the lottery.

fyi #1knickfan will finish out the game as knicks gm. its simply too late to find a new gm, and he's always been involved in this game quite actively.

Will you be posting input from him as far as voting/drafting are concerned?

and

sorry to hear about you being waived #1knickfan, that blows.

I've told him i'm quite available to do all his posting if necessary. But maybe dcash would be a better option.
