No. 5.5 million > 4 million

It's based on average annual value.

If it's AAV you would have to divide the 5.5 Million by the amount of years offered in the 2nd offer.

Therefore 4/16 is greater thn 4/5.5

Your offer: 16M/ FOUR years = 4.0M average

His offer: 5.5M/ ONE year = 5.5M average

Therefore, his offer has greater AAV.

That's not AAV then. You would have to take the amount of years by the two offers and come up with an average. Then follow up with the said amounts to determine which offer is higher. That's AAV.

What you're referring to is highest first year salary.

Can we get a verdict on this?.. I

Is a one year 5.5 million offer better than a 4 year 16 million w/ all 4 guaranteed?

Not sure why this is an argument. Long term stability with 16 mil on the table is far better than a 1 year deal, especially for a player like Wright where he's 27 years old entering his prime years as a player. This may be his last long-term contract. When he's in his early/mid 30s, then one years deals to hop on a championship team may not be out of the question. That's assuming he doesn't win one in that 4 year span.
