Trade 118
TRAILBLAZERS & PISTON FINALIZE ROSTERS
The Portland Trailblazers have made a move to strengthen their Center postion.
Portland sends: Josh Childress (6M), Randy Foye (4.25M), Amir Johnson (5.5M) & Ben Wallace (2.2464M) to Detroit. $17,996,400 in out going salaries to the Pistons. In addition the Pistons will recieve the 2012 HOU 1st round pick (Lottery protected) and PDXs 2013 2nd (unprotected).
Detroit sends: Jeff Green (7.5M), John Salmons (8.M) and Chuck Hayes (5.M) to the Blazers. $20.5M. Portland's out going salary - 17,996,400 x 1.25 = $22,495,500 so the salaries are CBA compliant.
Detroit hates to lose players who would have been key contributors, but the opportunity to bring Big Ben back for his swansong and the team oriented guys they acquire in Amir, Foye and Childress are terrific acqusitions. Amir has proven his worth and in 2005 and 07 Foye and Childress were the 5 and 7th picks in the draft. That talent and the picks made this trade too go to pass up.

We take a hit in the rankings, but we feel it is worth it. Hayes is an elite defender, he gives Howard fits and locked up Amare this season. He is also a good rebounder (8rpg), and a solid passer. Green is another good defender and a big upgrade from Turk. Green is long and we feel he will thrive in his natural position of SF. Salmons is a good 6th or 7th man off the bench, and is also a good defender. We add defenders to surround our core of Deron/Allen/Bosh.

PDX and NJ have a trade to announce, PHX cuts Roger Mason and Darius Songaila:
PDX outgoing:
Pau Gasol $18,714,150
Steve Nash $11,689,062
total: $30,403,212
NJ outgoing:
Deron Williams $16,359,805
Glen Davis - $5,000,000
Ben Wallace - $2,200,000
Leon Powe - $854,389
Vlad Radmonovic - $854,389
HOU 2012 1st
total: $25,268,583
Deron Williams is a legit superstar in his prime. He is quite young, has no injury history and is a big, strong guard that is about as pure a PG anyone. He can take over games with his scoring when needed. The other pieces are good assets to find a C. We like our chances to keep Williams heading into FA.
Brooklyn Accepts.
We know we could have made more moves and kept Deron, but thats not the point. We wanted to move him to get better. We get who we feel are still elite players in Nash / Gasol. These 2 guys are proven winners and will only help the Nets suceed. Good dealing.

Trade #119
Houston and Detroit have agreed to a trade.
Houston IN/Detroit OUT: Darrell Arthur ($2,027,119)
Detroit IN/Houston OUT: Goran Dragic TPE ($2,027,119)
Houston accepts. We were very pleased when this deal fell into our lap. Arthur is a great role player to have on our team. Good deal, Detroit.

Detroit accepts. The Pistons were set at PF with Bass & Johnson and needed to get the roster space to accommodate future deals and the draft. The TPE is an asset we can use in the future.

PDX and DEN have a trade to announce.
PDX outgoing:
18# - $5,134,629 TPE
DEN outgoing:
Chris Andersen - $4,869,100
We add some shot blocking and defense behind Chuck Hayes, and now have a 10 deep team, maybe the deepest team in the league.

Denver accepts. We now have $19 million in 2011 cap space, and a good chunk next season. Andersen was not a long-term solution at Center, and we are in rebuild mode. Unless we make another move, we'll run with Thabeet and see what he can do. Good dealing.

Trade #122
Denver trades the rights to Perry Jones and the contracts of Chase Budinger, Marshon Brooks, and Jose Calderon to Cleveland in exchange for the rights to James McAdoo and the contracts of Steve Blake and Dequan Cook.
We do this to upgrade our SF position with a potential superstar while keeping a shooter next to Turner. Dequan Cook will be a very good player coming off the bench behind Turner. This gives us 4 potential superstar players in Lawson, Turner, McAdoo, and Sullinger.

Trade #123
Bucks send out: Mbah A Moute 6.5 mil, Jason Maxiell 5mil, Larry Sanders 2mil. total = 13.5 mil
Wolves send out: Blatche 7.1 mil, Dudley 4.5, 2013 nets 2nd. total = 11.6 x 1.25 = 14.5
doing this trade to get some contracts i can rely on and to balance the roster.

Wolves accept. We made this deal for financial reasons. Since we aren't actually playing 2013 FA, I won't have to worry about overpaying guys. Instead, I'd rather get guys who either expire or are worth their deal. LRMAM and Dudley are similar players, but I gain offseason flexibility by replacing Blatche's longterm deal with the Maxiell expiring. Hansbrough will do just fine starting in place of the inefficient Blatche. Sanders is one year removed from just barely coming short of being a lottery selection.

Miami trades
J.Anthony $3,750,000
Bibby $2,000,000
J.Jones $2,000,000
N.Cole $ 1,068,240
totals $8,818,240 x 1.25% + 100,000 = $11,122,800
MIL trades
S.Jackson $10,059,750
* note this is before the 24 houtrs after FA starts (8pm)
so Mil is allowed to decline Bibby and Jones' team options)
Miami does this to bolster our lineup. We think Capt Jack would thrive as our 6th man (or maybe move Mathews to that role, not sure)

i approve this trade. gives me an affordable center and immediate cap relief for a player that i would probably lose at the end of the season and who doesn't fit my rebuilding direction.
this of course is done with the idea that bibby and jones are immediately off the books.

DETROIT AND DENVER ANNOUNCE TRADE:
The Detroit Pistons move Anderson Varejao & Jose Calderon to the Denver Nuggets in return for
JJ Barea.
While Detroit hates to move Varejao it was the cost to relieve the high priced log jam we had at Point Guard.
