Trade #19: Los Angeles Lakers-New Jersey

Lakers Receive:
SF Shawne Williams (3,000,000)
PF/C Mehmet Okur (10,890,000)
C Brook Lopez (3,076,983)
Total Salary: $16,966,983

Nets Receive:
SF Devin Ebanks (762,195)
PF Pau Gasol (18,714,150)
2012 1st Round Pick (Lakers)
Total Salary: $19,476,345

$16,966,983 x 1.5 + 0.1 = $25,550,474 > $19,476,345

Lakers accept.

It's a bit of a curious move and a very tough negotiation got this deal done. Ultimately, we love what Gasol brought to the table for us in that he helped with two championships, but his prime value is clearly in the past and his contract is rather prohibiting. In return, we get a center who put up 19/9 last year. The cap flexibility from Mehmet Okur is a nice add on bonus, and we still think Shawne Williams has a bit of potential left in him.

Nets are glad to finally get a deal done LOL.

I like Lopez, but with the injury and rebounding/RFA concerns, I'm not too high on his future. Gasol's an excellent defender and a terrific #2 who put up 19/10 next to Kobe (haha), and should be great next to a terrific passer in D-Will. I think both guys could've used a change in scenery.

We feel we'll be able to attract FAs better with Pau as well. We also dump Shawne, and get back back Ebanks and another pick in the upcoming draft.

Trade #20: Los Angeles Lakers - Memphis Grizzlies

Los Angeles Lakers Receive:
PG Josh Selby ($550,000)

Memphis Grizzlies Receive:
2015 2nd Round Pick (Top 55 Protected)

Lakers accept because of the minimum salary rule.

We get a guy that was a pretty promising prospect and add him to our rotation. As a result, we are forced to release Jason Kapono and wish him nothing but the best.

This move was made by the Grizz because we needed to get rid of Selby and this worked instead of a buyout, we didn't want to lose him but we had to get rid of someone so we wouldn't exceed the max number of players on the roster.

#21 Minnesota and Charlotte have a trade:

Minnesota trades: Martell Webster($5,256,000)

Charlotte trades:Derrick Brown($854,389) + D.J. White($2,001,167) = $2,855,556

Charlotte has enough cap to absorb the difference

Minnesota accepts. Webster is a nice player who we like but we want to save a little bit of money for the future.

Deal. Had too many PF's and needed the roster space.

TRADE #22

Cleveland Cavaliers receive:
C Joakim Noah ($12,000,000)
PF Vladimir Radmanovic ($854,389)

Atlanta Hawks receive:
PF Tristan Thompson ($3,726,600)
PG Ramon Sessions ($4,257,973)
C Ryan Hollins ($2,483,333)
2012 1st (Sacramento) (Lottery Protected)***
2013 1st (Miami)
$1,000,000 Cash

Cleveland Cavaliers accept. This deal ranges from a fair deal to a slight overpay, but we like it. The picks were likely going to produce bench/role players and while we like Tristan Thompson's potential, he does not fit into our accelerated timeline. Good dealing Atlanta. Also, we currently have the cap space to absorb the difference.

***Sacramento's own 2012 first round draft pick to Cleveland (top-14 protected in the 2012 Draft, top-13 protected in 2013, top-12 protected in 2014, top-10 protected in 2015, top-10 protected in 2016 and top-10 protected in the 2017 Draft) If Cleveland has not received a first round pick from Sacramento by 2017, then Sacramento shall convey their own 2017 2nd round draft pick to Cleveland provided it is within the top-55 picks. If it is not, then Sacramento's obligation to Cleveland shall be extinguished. (Cleveland-Sacramento, 6/30/2011)

trade void
1. Cook cant be waived then traded
2. with cook not in deal salary does not work
3. with cook in deal, port is over the max roster limit

as I have posted i think 3 times, Portland needs to waive someone before the trade to stay within limits

#23 CHARLOTTE AND DALLAS

Charlotte Bobcats send:
$3,315,000 - Matt Bonner

Dallas Mavericks send:
$854,389 - Yi Jianlian
$854,389 - Brian Cardinal
$855,120 - Sean Williams

$2,563,898 - Total

My previous deal freed up the roster spot available for this deal.

Matt Bonner is a nice role player to have on a championship team who could use some shooting. Charlotte is far from a championship team. So we get some cheap (expirings) from this deal. Nice dealing.

We get a young top 2 player here. 20/15 on DPY defense, and 17/8 PF with 3 point range and a starting pg. Great dealing.

Trade#25: New Jersey Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder

(New Jersey waives Sundiata Gaines prior to the deal to make roster room and takes the cap hit.)

New Jersey Nets send:
Pau Gasol 18714150
Marshon Brooks 1063865
2012 NJN 1st

Total: $19,778,015

Oklahoma City Thunder send:
Kendrick Perkins 7123626
James Harden 4604760
Cole Aldrich 2,286,000
Lazar Hayward 1,097,520
2012 OKC 1st
Cash Considerations - $2m

Total: $15,111,906

Hate to see Pau/Marshon go, but we needed to clear salary for next season. James Harden is that third star we need, and he's on his rookie deal. We feel he's having a breakout year and has the chance to be the third best SG in the league after Kobe/Wade. Perkins is also a defensive center (who's having an off-year), and I like Cole Aldrich as a prospect.

Accepted.
Pick up Pau, who will flurish in this system, Pau is just what we need, a post presence, and will only make us better, obviously, hard to let go off Harden, and Perk, but this gives me a great post presence, and also the acquisition of Brooks, who will be a future star of this league, and will step right into a starting role in this team..

Trade 26: Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns

Indiana Trades

Darren Collison -$1,455,960
Louis Amundson - $2,763,450
2012 Indiana 1st (unprotected)

Phoenix Trades

Steve Nash - $11,689,062
Grant Hill - $6,500,000
Total = $18,189,062

*The deal works as Indiana have $16.2m cap space. This takes our total salary to $57,742,688

Why for Indiana? Nash is a great short term upgrade, adding a much needed 'All Star' talent to draw fans and give this team more hope in the playoffs. He's a loyal guy too, so hopefully he'll hang around.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

PHI and SAS have a trade to announce.
Prior to the deal PHI signs Jason Kapono, Craig Smith to min deals

PHI outgoing:
Jameer Nelson $8,600,000
Ryan Anderson $2,244,601
Cash: 1 mill
total: $10,844,601

ATL accepts. Noah, at 26, was a bit old for me core, where TT, 20, fit right in, and they play similar roles. I also like that I get some 1sts, Sessions and some cash. Good dealing CLV.

#28 Minnesota and San Antonio have a trade:

Minnesota sends: Gerald Henderson($2,250,600) + Anthony Tolliver($2,050,000) 2013 Portland 1st(top 12 protected) = $4,300,600

San Antonio sends: Manu Ginobili($12,981,038)

Minnesota has just around $10m in caproom to absorb the difference in salaries.

Minnesota accepts. Even though we get a lot older, Manu is still a great SG and he can help our team try to win now as well.
