Clearly I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to Luka, but he's by far the best lead guard I could get without burning my USA slot.

eh, maybe i should've read the rules more carefully. thought it was at least 1 for every region lol.... didn't see it's just one for the usa.

would definitely change that in retrospect, oh well

Sorry guys- I have durantbird's picks- I just had a question about his list with respect to the rules and didn't feel right picking without getting it clarified. Still waiting on said clarification.

Yeah, it is one per region- but you're also not allowed to pick 2 guys from the same country at all.

I almost missed that too.

Flaco made a list with a bunch of international players on the first page if that helps

The bottom part of this draft seems like the best place to be.

It almost always is.

Unless there is a 100% xclear cut top 3 then a big dropoff in talent....2 or 3 all nba level players beats an mvp and an allstar

To be honest, it really depends on the pool and the restrictions. In the last game, having a top two pick was a pretty clear advantage, not only in terms of talent but also positional scarcity.

I had 8 international (non-US) players in my Tier 1. Was fully expecting all of them to get selected in the first round alongside Jordan and LeBron. Dr P somehow managed to get 2 elite international players, plus he'll eventually add an elite US player as well. I think he has a massive advantage going forward.

Yeah this one may already be a wrap.

That's what makes these exception drafts precarious (I know this isn't technically an exception draft but it essentially is). Depending on how the picks work out, there's always the possibility of one or two people picking up an elite pairing from the "regular" pool and being able to hoard their "exception" until the end.

I think everyone wanting American perimeter players is the one downside of having Dirk/Embiid, I might have to use mine in Round 3.

Dirk/Embiid?

Yeah...I think I already lost. There's no foreign player I can get to bridge that gap, and we'll get similar caliber American players.

Neither Dirk nor Embiid were supposed to drop as far as they did. I think the later parts of the draft were already OP, but a confluence of choices is going to give Dr P an unbeatable trio. Someone wasn't supposed to be able to get 2 MVP caliber foreign guys, and the numbers were perfectly fine to prevent that from happening.

I thought about taking Nash in round 2 but it doesn't look like the quality of guys available in round 2 was going to justify that more conservative choice either. I would have wanted a guy like AK or Ginobili in round 2 if I was going to go that way.

I can still have fun with this, but I really can't be looking to win anymore- this one's already a wrap, and it didn't need to be.

I think the teams will be good enough that a pair of big men like Dirk and Embiid might not good enough to just kill it, I think you need to build very well the rest of the roster to really take advantage of them and not just play a iso heavy my turn/your turn style that has a ceiling.

Anyway, did the count start already?
I hate to send long lists to people and so reveal all my strategy.

My 4th and 5th best players could end up being pretty weak, we'll see how it goes

Nah, no worries Dr P.

You got this. No matter what. Your 4/5 won't be all that much weaker than others. The pool flattens out quite a bit before then. You'll have 3 MVP caliber guys. Nobody else is going to have anything approaching that. A couple of teams are only going to have one.
