I still think my “Eraser Draft” had potential

Guard had to have a certain amount of blocks and steals

Forwards, and centers.

Only All NBA First or Finals MVPs

I think I suggested this one but we didn't run it. Your only All Stars can be players who have All NBA First or Finals MVP, but no regular season MVP.

So no LeBron, but also no Ray Allen for example.

Top end talent: Kawhi Luka Davis Wade Paul West Ewing Tracy Tatum Penny SGA Dwight Kidd Pippen Payton Booker Mullin Mourning Pierce Worthy Brown Parker Price...

We can add conference FMVPs for Butler

Some other ideas:
-George Foreman Draft (Only players who played for teams or their successors that were in the league in 1949 when he was born are eligible)
-Dream Team Draft (Only players from teams that the members of the 1992 Dream Team played for are eligible)
-90s NBA Finals Teams (Only players from teams that made the finals in the 1990s are eligible)
-No All Stars Draft (Players can only be drafted in seasons where they were not named to an All Star or All-NBA team)
-Rookies Draft (You can only draft players in their rookie season in the league)
-No Champions Draft (Pool of players is only players who have never won an NBA title, or could be players from teams that have never won a championship)

I like the Dream Team idea the most. Using one team per player: Chicago Bulls (Jordan, Pippen), Los Angeles Lakers (Magic), Boston Celtics (Bird), Phoenix Suns (Barkley), Utah Jazz (Malone, Stockton), San Antonio Spurs (Robinson), New York Knicks (Ewing), Portland Trail Blazers (Drexler), Golden State Warriors (Mullin), Atlanta Hawks (Laettner). I think the pool works 90s to now.

George Foreman draft - haven't looked up the teams, but the connection seems a bit random. Maybe call it founding teams as teams in the first version of the league? Not sure that's a viable pool.

90s NBA Finals Teams - sounds good, not sure we've done that but sounds a bit familiar. Maybe it was just an idea thrown?

No All Stars - don't find building around those guys an interesting enough task.

Rookies - though research, not sure pool is balanced and tough to judge.

No Champions - already done in the recent past. Actually both variations you suggested in the parentheses as far as I remember.

Another one could be a decade draft. Where the first pick you make and the decade you assign to them determines which decade you have to draft the rest of your team from (with the 0.85 multiplier included for pre-merger). Becomes sort of a choose your own adventure draft, especially for the earlier picks.

Non-draft game. Make a team based on your screen name. Mine is LAIMBEER so my eight players' names must begin with L, A, I, M, B, E, E, R.

If you don't have enough letters, circle back and start again at the beginning.

Heavy restrictions on accolades to prevent huge advantages based on luck. Maybe one player unrestricted, a second player with all-star as highest, and other six non all-stars. No LeBron or Mike.

Letters designated as unusual would be ignored (Q, X, Z, etc)
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I did the exercise with no restrictions just for fun. :D

This sounds like a cool “just for fun” type of idea.

I’d be down. Don’t even need a signup. Just let anyone who wants to post a team.

Id prefer looser restrictions on the teams. Just let people go nuts.

Ok that’s pretty absurd. Maybe limit it to one MVP..

I feel like there needs to at least be a little challenge. Everyone draws the line differently.

I'd think people can skip Q, V, X Y, Z. Severely limited.

If we have a one-MVP limit I'd don't think we'll get things like six Abdul-Jabbars.

One player MVP and/or multiple first team.

One player who was all-NBA but no more than one first team.

Two all-stars who never made all-NBA

Four with none of the above accolades

?

Redick draft

One player who became a coach
One player who finished top 3 in 3pt percentage season
One Orlando Magic player
One LA Clippers player
One Philly 76ers player
One New Orleans Pelicans player
One Milwaukee Bucks player
One Dallas Mavericks player

Don't remember if I suggested this

No College Draft: in relation to All-Star/All-NBA players, only players who didn't attend college in the US eligible

LeBron
Kobe
KG
Dwight
Moses
T-Mac
Luka
Jokic
Giannis
Dirk

Could include All-Star Wemby after this season. Either way, we'd probably need to cap the participants at 10.

Haven't we played that recently? Or just discussed it?
