Definitely want that 10th person in the game, but my spot is more precarious now.

Never do such specific math from the second spot

In a draft with such specific categories you can…if you know how many people are playing in the game.

Still think Luka is the way to go excluding the Celtics/Thunder on the basis of being the best category 2 player. That said, he's probably a reach at #4. Not sure whether anybody else was targeting him in round 1. Was considering trading down, but meh whatever. Hopefully, I'll end up with a more popular category 1 player this time. The fact we draft specific players instead of franchises should help a lot.

At least now you don't need to debate with yourself whether to use Horford

Was debating whether to use a certain decent-ish role player. May regret snobbing him, but it's almost impossible to predict which role players will end up being available. Here's hoping for a bigger fish in the later rounds.

Thought I'd buck the trend. There were a couple of other Cavs kinda draft worthy in their slots but I think there will be better players down the road in those roles with the limitations.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I initially had LeBron, Green, and another Cav lined up, but with so many picks before my next one I decided to secure as much talent as possible.

I think this is definitely a more "end of the draft" friendly pool than the previous iteration of this game.

Lebron was picked later in the last game and I don't think he had a particularly optimal pairing available.

I don't think this is necessarily a BAD pool for earlier picks either, to be clear. But the previous game had a decidedly "early rounds" slant to it with the top 3 picks all reaching the final four and the top pick winning comfortably. I also think that the number two pick likely would have reached the finals, only they faced off in the semis.

I think it's just something that needs to be expected when the clock is off. We do that for a reason- so people have time to realize the game has started and aren't caught off guard.

I try my best to temper expectations on progress on the first day.

Ahh the old CP3/Herb Jones pair. That gets me all nostalgic.

I had decent success with it- reached the semis at least.

You could argue he's not even the best non-MVP drafted by that franchise in terms of peak.

But one could.

100%

In the 2022 Peaks Project, they ranked #26 and #28, respectively.

In the current Peaks Project, CP3 ranked #13 for the 2001-2025 period; the others mentioned here, in Luka and Player X, have yet to be voted in.

Thinking Basketball also had CP3 at #13 for a similar/same project, Player X at #16, and Luka at #18.

Ultimately, they are all in the same tier of players for me (and, I hope, for most). Luka has some room to climb into that Top 10 realm, given his age.
