Re: Texas Draft 2.0 - Discussion
Gilmore isn't a conventional second round pick but his ABA peak is also rarely available. He might have been a more frequent early pick if it was available more

It's Nash Howard
Which I'm sure he likes even more!
I like it yep.

Figured I'd go with the proven Nash/Marion combo, and Dwight should fit nicely into that

I thought about brunson and lowry
But I really like Porter, cheap, great defemder and shooter and I think pairs better with Robinson ms McGrady

Re: Texas Draft 2.0 - Discussion
George Gervin and Dirk Nowitzki complement each other beautifully because they operate from entirely different parts of the floor—Gervin attacks vertically with floaters, finger rolls, slashes, and movement-based mid-range shots, while Dirk works horizontally with pick-and-pops, high-post face-ups, and perimeter gravity. Their differing geometries force defenses to guard both the rim and the high elbow/arc, creating space, cleaner drives, easier post-ups, and better passing windows for Deron Williams. Gervin, who excelled even without spacing, would thrive with Dirk stretching defenses, while Dirk benefits from a downhill slasher who forces panicked help and opens his lethal pop game. Their usage blends naturally because Dirk is efficient and low-touch while Gervin is a quick decision-maker who doesn’t dominate the ball. With Deron orchestrating, shifting pace, and feeding both scorers, this trio becomes structurally devastating—hard to scheme for, impossible to load up on, and capable of long stretches of elite offensive efficiency.
Intentions never mattered if they weren't accompanied by effort. Trying mattered, even when it didn’t work.

Man this team feels depressingly paint-by-numbers.

Re: Texas Draft 2.0 - Discussion
I don't think pick and roll as we know it was around in Hayes' day and I read he wasn't a good screen setter. He was an agile low(mostly)-to-mid scorer, rim protector, and athletic for his size. He definitely was a lob threat, so he'd be a good complement even if not off a true pick and roll play. Excellent defender. But he kind of gets the Elgin Baylor treatment here.

My comp for Hayes is Jermaine O’Neal if he was the biggest iron man in the league.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change
