Well my first attempt so here it goes, probably sucks but eh,
Denver Outgoing:

Kenyon Martin
Dahntay Jones

Denver Incoming:

Darko Milicic
Kyle Lowery

Charlotte Outgoing:
Nazr Mohammed
Sean May
Matt Carrol

Charlotte Incoming:
Kenyon Martin
Dahntay Jones

Memphis Outgoing:
Darko Milicic
Kyle Lowery

Memphis Incoming:
Nazr Mohammed
Matt Carrol
Sean May

Denver New Lineup:
Lowery
AI
Melo
Nene
Darko

Why for Denver?: Save tons of $ by moving KMarts contract for a shorter less expensive Darko, while adding a future at the PG position

Why for Charlotte? Their new lineup is one that can make an impact in the East with the new twin towers of Oak/Kmart, for pennies on the dollar.

Why for Memphis? They obtain a workhorse at the center for Darko who has nothing but potential... He really hasn't proven anything, a good shooter in Carrol and May can be utilized in their system.

Like I said probably sucks but its my first attempt

Denver Trades:
Kenyon Martin
Chucky Atkins

Denver Receives:
Jamaal Tinsley
Nazr Mohammed
Marquis Daniels

Charlotte Trades:
Adam Morrison
Nazr Mohammed

Charlotte Receives:
Troy Murphy
Shawne Williams

Indiana Trades:
Jamaal Tinsley
Troy Murphy
Shawne Williams
Marquis Daniels

Indiana Receives:
Kenyon Martin
Chucky Atkins
Adam Morrison

Why for Denver?
Martin's contract is really killing them, especially when it looks like they are committed to bringing around Nene. This trade gets them the PG they need in Tinsley. He is a bigger PG that can help balance off Iverson's size, won't make up the difference, but more than most other PG's can. Despite Jamaal's off the court issues, he is the perfect PG for this system, he is pass first, usually, and he thrives in the up tempo game. Marquis Daniels is a big PG that can balance out Iverson's weakness very well if needed. He is a good perimeter defender and he shares the ball. Mohammed is a good replacement for the loss of Camby as he brings the needed defense. Daniels is also a nice expiring contract, so they shed salary and fill 2 needs.

Mohammed
Nene
Anthony
Iverson
Tinsley

Why for Charlotte:
It is becoming obvious that Okafor plays better at C. With this trade they get Murphy, who is the perfect compliment to a player like Okafor. He will make it harder for teams to double up on Okafor. While Williams has had off the court problems, on the court he has played very well. He actually put up better numbers per 30 than Granger did his second year. Morrison wasn't impressive his rookie year and missed all of last year, this makes them more athletic which fits perfect with their offense. Larry Brown did great with Antoine Walker and Murphy's game is somewhat similar.

Okafor
Murphy
Wallace
Richardson
Felton

Why for Indiana: They get rid of Tinsley, Daniels, and Williams, 3 players they have not wanted. They take on a big contract in Martin but they still get rid of 2 big contracts in the process. Morrison is looking like a dead beat, but Bird loves him and also turned Mike Dunleavy's career around. This clears the air with the rest of the Pacers bad boy imagine and could possibly help them if Martin and Morrison could turn it around. Atkins is just a filler, but could become very useful if Ford was to go down with an injury.

Foster
Martin
Granger
Dunleavy
Ford

nuggets have capspace if they simply let iverson walk. letting him do that shouldn't happen, so trade him now for another expiring plus assets.

denver outgoing; allen iverson, stephen hunter

denver incoming: stephon marbury, javaris crittenton, 2010 lakers 1st rnd pick

why? let marbury walk and youre left with a young pg to team up with jr smith/melo and have capspace.

new york outgoing: stephon marbury, david lee

new york incoming: allen iverson, stephen hunter

why? add iverson without adding any new contract obligations

memphis incoming: david lee

memphis outgoing: javaris crittenton, 2010 lakers 1st rnd pick

why? get the player they were reportedly seeking during the draft.

Post#44 » by nba_addict » Tue Sep 9, 2008 6:10 am

My ultimate rebuilding goal for Denver is to build around Melo and JR Smith and cut the long-term contracts of Martin and Nene.

Trade 1: Nene + Klieza for Milicic, Lowry and Arthur

Klieza is a good player but what lies ahead of him is more important. Klieza is at most a serviceable forward. Memphis is looking for a powerforward who can score and Nene can fill the void. A healthy Nene could be a 15-9 guy in 32 mpg. Also Nene is just 25 years old. For Denver this is both a capspace savings and youth movement. Lowry and Arthur will infuse much needed youth for Denver.

Trade 2: Martin for Gadzuric, Bell and Jones

The trade can only be completed on Oct 13 due to trade restrictions. Milwaukee did a bold move to contend in the East by trading Yi for Jefferson. Martin is a serviable bigman who likes to score down low, something the Bucks has been missing for years. For Denver this move is plainly for cap space some saving in 2010. Jones expires next year. Bell and Gadzuric expires on the year Melo and Smith have thier ETO.

Trade 3: 3-Way Trade
Denver: Iverson for Odom, Cook and Ariza
Lakers: Odom, Ariza and Farmar for Iverson
Miami: Farmar for Cook

Denver pulls another Gasol Deal. Whether Iverson will resign with the Nuggets next year is also the same uncertain thing with Odom for the Lakers next year. Both Iverson and Odom are expirings and this is just a lateral move for both teams. Miami needs a steady and reliable point guard. Farmar has proven he can make long-range shots and that makes him a good fit alongside Wade. Cook is a promising you player but Miami recently signed James Jones as thier sniper off the bench. This provides Jones more playing time.

Final Denver Line-up
PG - Bell (26) / Lowry (22)
SG - Smith (34) / Cook (14)
SF - Anthony (34) / Ariza (14)
PF - Odom (34) / Arthur (14)
C- Milicic (24) / Gadzuric (12) / Andersen (12)

Defensively Denver acquired a good defensive stopper in Charlie Bell in the point position. Lowry is also a good defender. Odom is a better defender and above average rebounder in PF position. As to Milicic, he is a good shot-blocker at least. In 2009 free agency Denver will have more than $15 million of cap space enough to resign Odom and another reliable defensive center. The only remaining bad contract is that of Gadzuric. Milicic expires just right in 2010 free agency. Moving forwards Denver just have to find for upgrade in C position.

I did the trade at school now lol

Aim of the trade:
Get a true center to replace Camby's loss
Replace AI with another reliable, a veteran but also younger SG
Get a true PG who can play
Get rid of Martin's contract and replace him by another promising PF

PS: I won't do the trade with other Western teams because of the game requirement: help Denver out of the West. Every little element that gives out MAY help other Western teams to beat Denver, no matter it is AI or Martion.

So here it comes:

Denver trades: Iverson, Martin
Denver receives: Redd, Villanueva, Tinsley, Etan Thomas

Indiana trades: Tinsley, M.Daniels
Indiana receives: Martin

Washington trades: Etan Thomas
Washington receives: M.Daniels

Milwaukee trades: Redd, Villanueva
Milwaukee receives: Iverson

Why for Denver:
Tinsley/Redd/Anthony/CV/E.Thomas
This achieved the goal i mentioned above.
Plus, that's a pretty balanced team: true Center who plays low post game and also a good rebounder and defender, a Play maker, a Shooter, a PF who can shoot mid range, an all-rounded SF, with JR Smith, Nene, Kleiza and Balkman (a defense specialist) coming of the bench. Definitely can help the team to do great things off the east.

Why for Indiana:
That get rid of Tinsley's bad contract and M. Daniels, who doesn't play very well here. Although Martin's contract is even larger than Tinsley, but he really suits the team: When we look at their rosters, we can see that they have no good backup PFs (Baston and McRoberts). With Martin coming off the bench and Murphy starting, this can definitely form a effective PF duo, especially in the East.

Why for Washington:
Simple. They wanted to get rid of Thomas for a long time and open up minutes for Blatche and Haywood. M.Daniels is basically an expiring which help the team to semi-rebuild. If Arenas get injured again, M. Daniels can also share some of the offensive role too.

Why for Milwaukee:
We should note that on the team, apart from Bogut, nobody is untouchable.
That's pretty arguable whether AI or Redd is better. But when we look at the stats, we can see that an aging AI could get more points per game than Redd last season. Surely it's a gamble here. But every trade is a gamble. With a Ridnour/Redd/Jefferson/CV/Bogut lineup with nobody who can penetrate, can they come out of the East which is even more competitive than last year? Doubtful. Getting off CV may hurt the team, but this also open up mintues for their lotto pick, Joe Alexander, and Scott Skiles' favourite, Malik Allen. With a new coach and a fresh lineup of Ridnour/AI/Jefferson/Alexander/Bogut here, this can bring fans surprise.

My Rebulid will not be a youth movement but more of a retool to compete and become a better defensive team.... It will also be realistic.

Starting Roster:

Atkins/Carter/Jones
Iverson/J.R. Smith/Weems
Melo/Kleiza
K-Mart/Balkman
Nene/Birdman/Hunter

Okay trade 1:

Detroit Gets: Carmelo Anthony/ Steven Hunter
Denver Gets: Chauncy Billups/ Tayshaun Price

Why for Pistons: They get there "star" player... they already said that they whould do this trade so they kept the offer on the table......

Stuckey/Hamilton/Melo/Dice/Rasheed

Why for Nuggets: They decide this deal is the best move for the team to compete to they pull the trigger... It Gets them an actual starting point guard and gives them a defensive presence.

Trade 2:

Dallas Gets: Allen Iverson/ Nene
Denver Gets: Josh Howard/ Jerry Stackhouse/ Erick Dampier

Why for Mavericks: Kidd and Dirk aint getting any younger.... Nene might be a risk with high reward but with the full MLE signing of Diop, so Damp becomes expendable.... the thought of kidd and iverson in the same back court together is scary....they still have a good bench also

Kidd/Iverson/Geroge/Dirk/Diop

Why for Nuggets: They move a huge expring contract in iverson for value... Howard is still pretty young. Stack Gives them instant offense and leadership of the bench while Dampier can obviously hold his own in the western conference.

Trade 3:

Sacto Gets: Linas Klieza/Chucky Atkins/ Dahntay Jones/ Sonny Weems
Denver Gets: Bobby Jackson/ Sheldon Williams

Why for Kings: They were said to want Klieza in any Artest deal so in essence they get him.... They also dont take on any significant salary....and still get a good prospect in weems.

Udrih/K-Mart/Klieza/Thompson/Miller

Why for Nuggets: They get a high caliber back up for Billups with Jackson and they add rebounding and toughness.... also cleans up the up the roster....

Trade 4:

Washington Gets: 2nd rounder (Via Clippers from Camby Trade)
Denver Gets: Etan Thomas (Absorbed with TPE from Camby Trade)

Why for Wizards: Strictly salary dump.... plus him and haywood dont get along.... get a 2nd rounder out the deal....

Why for Nuggets: They realize they really messed up by trading away camby for a 2nd pick to they trade that same pick they got to bring in another center only this one is a lot cheaper.....hey stranger things have happened....

Final Roster:

Chauncy Billups/ Bobby Jackson/ Anthony Carter
Josh Howard/ J.R. Smith
Tayshaun Prince/ Jerry Stackhouse
Kenyon Martin/Renaldo Balkman/Sheldon Williams
Erick Dampier/Etan Thomas/Chris Anderson

Overall this becomes a Very Well balanced roster. The Defense is great, pretty much a lock at every posistion..... The bench would be one of the best in the league. This new nuggets team doesnt really have a "star" player unless you count billups, but it has the Potential to be a real TEAM. They compete every single night, with a long and hustling team, and could land anywhere from a 4th seed to and 8th seed, depending on chemistry in the West.

Denver in:
Andrei Kirilenko
Kosta Koufas
Delonte West
Tony Battie
Keith Bogans
Eric Snow (waived, returns to Cleveland as an assistant coach)

Denver out:
Allen Iverson
Kenyon Martin
Stephen Hunter

Denver clears the contracts of Martin and Hunter; acquires Kirilenko as a defensive anchor; and picks up young talent in Koufas and West, while still reducing payroll this year by approximately $3M.
Nene / Koufos
Kirilenko / Kleiza
Anthony / Balkman
Smith / Balkman
West / Atkins

Utah in:
Allen Iverson
Stephen Hunter

Utah out:
Andrei Kirilenko
Kosta Koufas
Matt Harpring

Utah acquires a superstar in Iverson to make a championship run, while also providing its fans the endless entertainment involved in seeing how Iverson and Jerry Sloan get along. And, while they’re at it, they clear Kirilenko’s contract; Koufas and Harpring are a real loss, but still a price worth paying.
Okur / Hunter
Boozer / Millsap
Brewer / Korver
Iverson / Miles
Williams / Price

Cleveland in:
Matt Harpring
Brian Cook

Cleveland out:
Delonte West (S&T $4M/year 4 years)
Eric Snow

Cleveland picks up a tough veteran in Harpring, who can play some PF as well as backing up LeBron at SF; all it costs is paying Brian Cook for a couple of years.
Ilgauskas / Wallace
K. Martin / Varejao
James / Harpring
Szczerbiak / Pavlovic
M. Williams / Gibson

Orlando in:
Kenyon Martin

Orlando out:
Tony Battie
Brian Cook
Keith Bogans

When Tony Battie is your second best big man, it’s tough to be taken seriously as a championship contender. Orlando shores up its front line with Martin, giving up only guys who won’t contribute. The real cost is Martin’s salary two years from now; it’s worth paying for the big upgrade now.
Howard / Gortat
Lewis / Martin
Turkoglu / Lewis
Pietrus / C. Lee
Nelson / A. Johnson

bryant08's Nuggets Rebuilding Plan

Trade 1:

New York Knicks:
Zach Randolph
David Lee
Jared Jeffries
for
Allen Iverson

Why: Change the direction of the team and save a bunch of $$ when AI comes off the books at the end of the year.

Memphis Grizzlies:
Darko Milicic
Marko Jaric
Kyle Lowry
for
Zach Randolph
2009 1st Round Pick (lotto protected in 09, unprotected in '10)

Why: They get Z-Bo and get the 1st they are asking for, but at the expense of Kyle Lowry. They have a glut at PG anyways, so the loss won't be big at all.

Denver Nuggets:
Allen Iverson
2009 1st Round Pick (lotto protected in 09, unprotected in '10)
for
Kyle Lowry
Marko Jaric
Darko Milicic
Jared Jeffries
David Lee

Why: They get back two legitimate prospects in Lowry/Lee as well as a servicable big man in Darko. They begin a 3 year plan to become legit contenders, with Jaric/Jeffries expiring at the same time.

Trade 2:

Milwaukee:
Charlie Villanueva
Dan Gadzuric (waived and returns to MIL)
Damon Jones (waived and returns to MIL)
for
Kenyon Martin

Why: Bogut/Yi get some support defensively and K-Mart gets a chance to really re-start his career fresh. They also get rid of Gadzuric's contract.

Indiana:
Jarrett Jack
Josh McRoberts (waived and returns to IND)
for
Charlie Villanueva

Why: They pick up a guy who could really thrive running the floor alongside what they currently have. The Pacers mould their team around guys who can run the floor well and shoot the rock, with a great penetrator in TJ Ford.

Denver:
Kenyon Martin
for
Jarrett Jack
Dan Gadzuric
Damon Jones (waived and returns to MIL)

Why: They pick up a combo guard to add to the roster for quite a low cost, shed a little salary going forward and still maintain that in 3 years, Gadz/Jaric/Jeffries will come off the books.

Transaction 3:

Waive Chucky Atkins and Dahntay Jones.

Final Roster:
Darko Milicic/Steven Hunter/Dan Gadzuric
Nene Hilario/David Lee/Chris Andersen
Carmelo Anthony/Linaz Kleiza/Renaldo Balkman/Jared Jeffries
JR Smith/Marko Jaric
Jarrett Jack/Kyle Lowry/Anthony Carter

The roster finally has some real depth and talent to it, but it's still not about winning right now. It's about going forward with a core of young players to surround Melo, such as Jack/Lowry/Lee/Kleiza.

Linas Kleiza
Salary: $1,824,493 Years Remaining: 1

Cha 2nd rd pick from L.A

Outgoing Players: Hedo Turkoglu, Tony Battie

Denver Nuggets

Incoming Players

Lamar Odom
Salary: $14,148,596 Years Remaining: 1

Jordan Farmar
Salary: $1,080,000 Years Remaining: 1

Outgoing Players: Kenyon Martin, Linas Kleiza, Chucky Atkins

Hedo Turkoglu
Salary: $6,864,200 Years Remaining: 2

Tony Battie
Salary: $5,746,000 Years Remaining: 2

Outgoing Players: Jordan Farmar, Lamar Odom

Denver loses their biggest contract for a huge amount of cap space, and a young player at their position of need, + now they have two players in odom and iverson, that can get them some youth.

Orlando, gets their pf to enforce the paint along with dwight, possibly making them one fo the most dominant big man duos, and lands an excellent player off the bench that can shoot

Lakers get their sf, along with a big to help fill turiafs gap, and although they lose farmar, atkins is good for instant offence off the bench, and atkins and fisher can mold yue into a solid pg off the bench

Denvers linup

Nene/Hunter
Odom/Anderson
Anthony/Balkman
Iverson/Smith
Farmar/Carter

skorff26: Very Solid and Simple. The Nuggets get rid of an albatross of a deal for lesser contracts. This would help with thei cap situation nicely and could at least retain guys like Smith and Klieza.
Functionality: 8
Creativity: 7
Feasibility: 10
Total: 25

CellarDoor : Not such a fan of this plan. The Pacers probably don't do this deal since K-Mart doesn't exactly make them much better and worsens their cap situation. The Bulls do it, the Mavs do it, but the Nuggets have to decline. This deal gives them more guys with longer caps and really doesn't even make the club better for the present, let alone the future.
Functionality: 5
Creativity: 6
Feasibility: 3
Total: 14

pistons: Solid idea. Deal Melo and Co. for excess youth and rebuild that way. Portland at least has to consider this deal as it could emerge them into contenders. I still think Denver can do better if they deal Melo. I'd also think the Nuggets would rather throw in K-Mart than Nene in this deal.
Functionality: 7
Creativity: 8
Feasibility: 7
Total: 22

babyjax13: I'm sorry I can't see the Suns dealing Shaq now at this point. The deal does give Phoenix a new look and perhaps they reconsider their situation come mid-season, but at this point they must decline. The deal does give Denver a chance at contention though.
Functionality: 5
Creativity: 10
Feasinility: 4
Total: 19

randomhero423: Denver can do more by dealing Mello and they give the Clippers too much cap space for a deal that doesn't help them too much in the present or future. Denver puts up a fairly unimpressive roster with one potential piece, Harris, and several 1st rd picks. The idea does get them to rebuild, but not sure if the Clippers like dealing picks in that fashion.
Functionality: 5
Creativity: 7
Feasibility: 3
Total: 15

ShaqSux: Can't see Charlotte liking this deal too much. They get a larger contract in K-Mart and not exactly the guy they want pairing up with Okafor. That being said, if K-Mart can fully bounce back even further this season and regain some trade value, this deal could be re-evaluated. It does give Denver a nice replacement for Camby and a solid PG in Lowry. Not too shabby.
Functionality: 7
Creativity: 8
Feasibility: 5
Total: 20

DGrangeRx33: Nice idea. You replaced Camby with a favorable contract in Nazr. Got Denver a PG in Tinsley, and unloaded Martin's deal. The one team that questions this deal is Charlotte, but they may consider it if they feel adding Murphy gives them a chance at the playoffs.
Functionality: 8
Creativity: 9
Feasibility: 7
Total: 24

dcash4: I got nailed in the last trade tourney b/c Lee was rumored to dismiss a deal to Memphis. I think NY has to at least listen to the idea pending on what MDA thinks of Lee. Overall not shabby, but the Lee rumor hurts.
Functionality: 6
Creativity: 6
Feasibility: 2
Total: 14

nba_addict: Denver gets too good of a deal from Memphis, then gets ripped by LA and oked with Milwuakee. Iverson is greater than Odom so essentially swapping the 2 won't help matters. Finally Memphis doesn't want to add cap to their situation unless they get valuable young pieces, not unload them.
Functionality: 4
Creativity: 5
Feasibility: 1
Total: 10

SimonFish: Denver re-tools. Is there team better? They are different that is for sure. They do gain some young pieces and shorten cap, so there is some positive objective there. Getting Redd along with Mello could prove positive in the long run.
Functionality: 7
Creativity: 7
Feasibility: 5
Total: 17

bness888: Denver turns into a perrential 10th seed team that will be capped strung for some time. They are better defensivley, but they don't get much younger and take a few steps back.

sterncohen: Many teams have to be willing to take on risks here. I like the idea for Utah. Iverson could put them into contention. The Cavs get a defensive Wally, so that's good. Orlando adds beef upfront with D-Howard. Denver gets defensive and deeper. AK47 could emerge nicely as a 4 for them. Not shabby.

bryant08: Very messy. The Knicks make out like bandits, Jack is not a Blazer anymore either. The deals don't make too much sense and a far from feasible.

ecuhus1981: Nice idea there. Dallas considers it, Memphis is doing something simlar with Z-Bo, so they may as well. It puts Denver in a nice position looking forward.

Re: TRADE TOURNAMENT by eitanr-Preliminary Rd-Judging Has Begun

Skorf: This trade is very simple. It is purely a cost saving move, as Gadzuric is pretty bad. I guess its a rebuilding plan, but i was hoping for something with a little more zing.

CellarDoor: I like this trade. Its a bit out there, but its pretty original, and no team gets overly shafted. I think DAL might have a quarrel with this trade, but besides that, looks reasonable.

Pistons: You underrate melo BIG time, plain and simple. Short of the big three, not a chance POR can get Carmelo.

BabyJax13 AI and Nash will get destroyed by the other backcourts in the league. That tandem couldn't spell defense, let alone play it.

randomhero423: One question, how does DEN recieve an unprotected 1st round, and LAC only send out a protected one? Regardless, this trade is pretty bad for DEN, they value Kleiza and J.R smith SO much more than this.

ShaqSux: DEN make out too well in this trade, they ditch K-Mart, AND get Lowry? Also never describe a Okafor/Martin tandem as pennies on the dollar.

DGrangerx33 I think this trade is ok, but too good for IND. Martin for Tinsley/Rasho is pretty fair if you ask me. Here IND, ditches Murphy instead,AND get Morrison? I think this is a bit too good for IND, but its kind of to be expected, since it is your team(no insult intended)

dcash Simple. I'm not sure if NYK would go for it, but if they do, this trade looks pretty good.

nba_addict This trade is pretty effective. DEN get some youth, cap relief, and overall, don't rip off anyone in particular(although I have my doubts about MEM Giving up TWO prospects to take on salary, and about LAL trading for AI)

SimonFish DEN trades salary, and pick up....from the looks of it, EVEN MORE salary. That team is different, and more balanced, but is the money worth the "upgrade"?

bness888: this trade is pretty good IMO. Its creative, just not sure if its feasible. I think the DET trade is kinda fair, but the DAL trade is too good for DEN IMO.

Wow. I got the highest score from two judges and one of the lowest from the third. Thanks for the compliments and criticisms guys.
