ANNOUNCEMENT:
I will be busy for the next week or so, so other participants, such as TMACFORMVP will be overseeing things. Anyone else who wishes to help is much appreciated. As for trading during this time, if 5 or more participants veto a trade within 24 hours, it cannot go through. I will probably not post much during this time, other than to make my selections, so I'm just giving you the heads up. Thanks!

I'll take Bill Walton

Image

Even chronically injured, he still managed to dominate on both ends of the court, spearheading a championship team and winning an MVP the year after. His peak was short, but fantastic, and many observers from his time considered him a better player than Kareem. Just an amazing low post and defensive anchor for my elite backcourt.

I choose Elgin Baylor to be paired up with Wilt because I already know they can work together. Elgin is still to this day the greatest rebounder under 6 foot 6.

With their 3rd round selection in the 2009 All-Time Draft, the Houston Rockets are PLEASED to select...

Image

Rick Barry!!

One of the greatest SF's to have ever played the game, put up one of the single greatest seasons for any player to have ever played the game, leading the undermanned and severely less talented Golden State Warriors to the NBA Championship. On the way, picked up a Finals MVP Award, in a season where he averaged over 30 points per game, dished out 6 assists, and grabbed 6 rebounds. He had the full offensive package, the ability to get to the line and convert at an all time percentage or shoot the long range jumper. The evidence doesn't show he was a three point shooter, because of the no three point line at the time. But in the final season of his career, he ranked 2nd in three point makes for that season, now likely convert that to a more modern game where the three point shot is practiced, and much more apparent in today's game, I'd have no doubt he'd convert into a terrific three point shooter, especially considering he'd be in the prime of his game.

Defensively, he wasn't great, but he certainly wasn't poor either, he got into the passing lanes, even leading the league once at 3 steals per game in the chosen seasons and has good size with underrated strength against bigger players. We're happy to have our perimeter scorer, and closer down the stretch when we felt he wouldn't be available in the third round. Not to mention he has the GOAT FT shooting form. ;)

Code: Select all

22.3 / 8.9 / 4.9 on .452 from the field
25.1 / 6.8 / 6.1 on .456 from the field
30.6 / 5.7 / 6.2 on ,464 from the field
All-NBA First Teams, Top 5 MVP Finishes, Finals MVP
(should have won MVP in the 74-75 season)

Kind of funny that we're waiting hours on end for the guy who updated that it's his pick to make his selection...

Fingeroll from a list I recieved last night selects

Joe Dumars
Image

Dumars is the ultimate teamamte and IMHO the best defensive guard to ever play the game. Considered a lock for the Dream Team before MJs threats and intimidation he was not only a lock down defender but 20ppg scorer on one of the 10 greatest teams to ever play. The would be 1987 NBA Finals winner was injured diving for a loose ball suffering a concusion which he nor his team recovered. He did redeem himself with a 4 game sweep of complete domination over the Lakers in 89 in which he shot a blistereing 60% and shut down Magic just a week after making MJ look like a WNBA player that couldnt get off a shot.

I am proud and excited to select the GOAT little man to ever play the game

Image

Isiah Thomas will be leading this team be the floor general. Having a top 20 player in the 3rd rd is a complete steal and is a bad omen for opponetts.

PS Johnson

Wilt and Baylor hated each other. In fact when Baylor was asked to give up some shots and come off the bench ala Manu so Wilt would have more room to operate Baylor decided to retire.

Wow....to listen to the description of Dumar's I almost wonder why he doesn't have more rings...or higher all-time rankings.:)

I guess I better take John Stockton. In my opinion it's a pretty substantial drop off at the PG position after Magic, Isaiah & Stockton.
I brings the ruckus to the ladies!

After much consideration and a comparison between the elites at his position, The Titans are proud to select PG STEVE NASH for his excellent shooting ability and creativity with passing and the ability to breakdown the defense.

04-05 - A: 11.5 P: 15.5
05-06 - A: 10.5 P: 18.8
06-07 - A: 11.6 P: 18.6
2 time MVP

With Duncan and Barkley doing wonders in the post, Steve Nash can do the mid-range scoring if the bigs are double teamed or he can break down the defense and drive in for a layup. His ball handling skills are extraordinary. It was a pretty obvious decision for us after Stockton and Isiah were gone.

From a list I recieved Im picking for fingerroll and he takes

Dirk

Image

Dirk adds a MVP and with his stellar rebounding 9rpg and his ability to shoot outside he stretches the floor along with Dumars to allow Frazier and Ewing to have room to operate. Having Dirk outside covers up the only weakness Frazier has allowing frazier to attack the basket and kick out to Dirk. It also helps Ewing becasue now he cant be double teamed with a PF. Dirks weakness of defense is balanced out by the best def backcourt in this league and with Ewing and his nearly 4 bpg.

Might be going a bit early, but I want to ensure I get this guy:

Robert "Bobby" Jones. The Secretary of Defense, efficient scorer when he chose to score, ad all around fantastic glue guy.

Re: All-Time Draft: Round 3 (bringbackhoffa is on the clock)

Post#59 » by Warspite » Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:36 am

After carefull consideration and working with several others we feel the best pick For Hoffa is

Image

Robert Parish

Parish is most likely the best running C to ever play the game. His 55% shooting and 20-10 3 yr peak puts him in elite company and is a steal in rd 3 being the 11th C taken. His mobile play and ability to step outside and knock down a 20 ft jumper allows Magic to drive the lane.

Theres also a rumor that McHale and Parish might be a good fit next to each other and could have some success. '

Hoffa has the right to change his pick and put Parish back in the green room when/if he checks in.

If there are more than 2 GMs ready to pick and have waited over 6 hours if Im contacted I will set up an auto pick commitee and help get this draft back on course.
