so a penalty for not sending in rankings if you are one of the teams that did a write up/are eligible to vote/rank

you get 29 points for not posting a writeup and 29 points for not sending in rankings.

I will be taking the average of yours scores as follows.

you get votes
7
8
6
9
8
4
7
9
6
7
7
78 total 11 rankings so ranked about 7th

you did not send in a writeup or post rankings
29
29

136 total 13 raknings so ranked 10th

Depending on how you get ranked you should only drop a couple of places.

So?

Winning one category is a win. There shouldn't be a way to win with stupid salaries.

the most important category in the whole thing is #3, the other two imho are not as important. Every time there has been 3 sets of rankings based on win now, best rebuild and best job. If the team is good and will win now more than any other team they should lose placement because of bad salaries? | dont think they should if they have the better talent level.

Like I said the most important is #3, that's what I used to determine who got the first 5 picks for teams from the last game. Here is where those #1 teams with 100 million salaries will be ranked last because the job they did managing the salaries was horrible.

Its actually not overall salary number I have an issue with.

Its unrealistic INCREASES in salary that shouldn't be rewarded under any circumstances. Real teams whether in win now mode or rebuild mode generally have to deal with limits to how high they can push their salaries. That should be the case in this game as well.

I've stated my opinion here. I am done. If you disagree with that then obviously we have fundamental differences.

actually we were discussing a hard cap in the general thought thread a while back and I believe we were talking about having a hard cap next game of whatever your team salary starts as you cannot go over if the team is more than the mle and LLE over the cap.

so if you start at 90.3 million you cant go over it.

if you are right at the cap then you are able to use the MLE and LLE only to go over your limit with the exception of resigning your own players ofc to a certain extent.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to apologize for not getting my write up in. Work has picked up tremendously the last couple of weeks, and unfortunately, this doesn't get all that high on the priority list compared to that. Again, sorry, and great job guys who stayed with this the whole time.

have an exam in the morning, will get the others done tomorrow night. if you did not do a writeup and did not send in rankings then you were ranked 30th as no one gave you any rankings for not posting a writeup. I will make the entire spreadsheet available when I have it all tallied up.

Congrats guys, you finished how I voted you.

And although 9 teams didn't get scores, it seems my changes got me to the playoffs at least :)

Ya man, good job. That PHX team seems to always be a tough one but I think they've got some great options looking forward now.

Best Future/Rebuild
1. Chicago
2. Milwaukee
3. Philadelphia
4. Washington
5. Portland
6. New York
7. Dallas
8. Oklahoma
9. Memphis
10. New Orleans
11. Miami
12. LA Lakers
13. Phoenix
14. Houston
15. Charlotte
16. Atlanta
17. LA Clippers
18. Indiana
19. Cleveland
20. Boston
21. Toronto
22. Denver
23. New Jersey
24. Golden State
25. Orlando
26. Sacramento
27. Detroit
28. Minnesota
30. San Antonio
30. Utah

not sending in votes or posting writeups really did some teams in on this one. Only two teams did not receive some sort of ranking so they were tied for last. Also the the team who did the best on your votes did not actually finish first (I'm not happy about having to make this choice but the penalty was clear) because they did not send in their rankings. As I said before I will make the spreadsheet available to everyone so they can see where they ranked if they had sent in their rankings.

Best Overall Job by a GM
1. Chicago
2. Portland
3. Philadelphia
4. LA Lakers
5. Miami
6. Milwaukee
7. Charlotte
8. Oklahoma
9. Dallas
10. Houston
11. Washington
12. New York
13. LA Clippers
14. Memphis
15. New Orleans
16. Boston
17. Phoenix
18. Toronto
19. Atlanta
20. Cleveland
21. Indiana
30. Denver
30. Detroit
30. Golden State
30. Minnesota
30. New Jersey
30. Orlando
30. Sacramento
30. San Antonio
30. Utah

once again same thing here, not posting a writeup or sending in rankings shuffled teams around. 30s means no writeup and no rankings and no rankings sent in. Spreadsheet will be added in a few mins.

Spreadsheet

as you will noticed, most of the rankings had a lot of variation so I didn't remove any values. Also, many of the rankings were within 1 point of each other, so whoever placed say 18th may have actually had a ranking of like 12.8.

I don't get it. The best contender rankings make sense. The rest are just... weird.

Good plan :)

Thanks for running the game, it's my first and won't be my last.

My only criticism is that the rankings need to be more transparent - at the moment I think the criteria are too subjective (only the best contender rankings seem to be straightforward to judge).

My suggestions would be:

Best rebuild - bonus points system for draft picks obtained/held, bonus points for rookies in NBA.com's top 10 rookies. Penalty points for bad contracts - GM's vote on these.

Best job - make it very straightforward. Is the team better than when it started (bonus for yes, penalty for no). Does the team have more cap flexibility (bonus for yes, penalty for no). Does the team have a better future (bonus for yes, penalty for no) + GM's vote for each team against these.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Wow some crazy votes/rankings.

Half my overall ranking were in the top 4 and 3 of em were drastically different.

Interesting that Chicago pulled out 2 categories and never even sent a ranking of his own.

anyway congrats and it was fun.. ish.

Wow. I didn't think that my salaries would kill me that much... I didn't think Dan Gilbert would mind paying as long as he's got a winner...
