I would like to contract you and Scott to figure out the picks - as in clearly the pick will not be top 3, so I can relinquish the 1-3 protection, In order to fix all future protected picks so we can all trade them.

It is obvious but you still can't trade based on it going until the draft in my opinion. Portland owns the pick now.

No but I can trade the 1-3 part and guarantee that portland gets the pick no matter what.

You can offer a swap (1-3) which is technacilly lile trading the pick :)

Everyone please send me your protected list for Expansion by Saturday the 14th at Noon PST. I will hold the expansion draft at 4 PM PST. If you do not send me protection, your 8 highest paid players (2017 salary so potential FAs included) will be protected. I know this isn't ideal but I don't want to be making judgement calls and this is the only way I can think to do it. For the expansion teams, I will email you the protected list and available players. Once received, I will be requesting lists from both of you so I can just do the draft not put either of you on a clock at all.

The NBA draft will start at 10 AM PST on Sunday January 15th. There will be scheduled 15 minute windows for each draft pick to move this on at a steady pace. If you do not send me a list or pick yourself within your scheduled window, a draft selection will be made for you based on DraftExpress mock draft:

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2017/

I will post draft order/times tomorrow after rankings are done and I have figured out who owns what pick.

Is there a limit to the number of players that can be selected from one team in the expansion draft? And is there any compensation if you lose a player?

12 rounds. No limits. If a team wants to pick 7 players from one team besides the 8 protected ones, thats fine.
No compensation!

Thanks guys. Just curious about this one, but is there a salary limit for expansion teams?

Hornets latest:
John Wall / Langston Galloway / Beno Udrih
Marco Belinelli / Jeremy Lamb / Vander Blue
Wilson Chandler / Kelly Oubre / Anthony Brown
LaMarcus Aldridge / Spencer Hawes / Christian Wood
Kosta Koufos / Tarik Black / Jason Smith

I am going to bed now but will definitely be around at the deadline. Looking forward to see some deadline offers when I wake up!
