I'm going Dave Cowens. I was set to pick my shooting guard here, but decided to go big instead. He gives us elite rebounding, hustle, and the ability to knock down the mid-ranger. His two year peak consists of roughly 20 PPG, 15 RPG, 4 APG, with over a block and steal per game. He was an All-NBA defender, and the heart and soul of those Celtic championship teams. This is the guy, despite being undersized, battled toe to toe and frustrated Kareem. In Game 7 of the Finals, he dropped 28/14 en route to a Celtics championship. We feel, with his height, and his supreme quickness/hustle at the center position, he can easily fill in at that PF position, the strength to guard the post players, and the quickness to guard/react on the pick and roll.

Cowens ran baseline to baseline, set picks, made heady passes, participated in full-court presses, blocked seemingly unblockable shots, dived into the crowd after loose balls, muscled through the paint for tip-ins, and generally made himself a nuisance to Celtics opponents. He once broke his foot in an exhibition game by slamming into a basket support while blocking a shot.

"I thought he was a wild man," former teammate Paul Silas said. "I'd never seen anybody with that much talent play that aggressively."

"He's a very dedicated kid," Auerbach said at the time. "A dedicated kid isn't unheard of, but there aren't as many around as we would like. But our problem with Cowens is telling him when to lay off. He does too much."

We will go for our glue guy; a player who was smart, coachable, sacrificed his stats and minutes for the team, was a consistent league leader in efficiency, led a team with no other players likely to be picked for this ATL to the best record in his league (then did it again the next year with bigger names), ties with Kareem for most 1st team All-Defense nominations in the history of the league (in half as many years), a great leaper and man coverage guy who still averaged 2 block and 2 steals a game while defending 3 positions, probably the greatest defensive forward ever to play the game . . .

Probably one of the most under the radar guys that haven't been chosen, excellent passing, rebounding, defense, and post scoring. With Patrick Ewing being a face up player, and seeing how that didnt really work for him in the biggest spotlight, I needed a low post scorer that's reliable and most importantly a winner.

We are happy to select a great player who will be playing within his role at a high level. I'm talking about all-star Horace Grant.

The Boned Samuels will select the guy with the most rings in this entire game

Image

Sam Jones

I think with Joe D’s ability to play the point and LBJ’s ball handling, a true Pg is not needed in my system. Sam will give me a deadly guard combo and another shooter for LBJ to pass to.

1964/65: World Championship # 7, was 4th in MVP voting, 5th in Defensive Win Shares, 8th in Offensive Win Shares, 6th in Efficiency, All NBA (2nd Team), All Star
averaged 25.9 ppg, 5.1 reb, 2.8 asst, 50.5 TS%

1965/66: World Championship # 8, was 5th in MVP voting, 8th in Defensive Win Shares, 9th in Offensive Win Shares, 4th in Efficiency, All NBA (2nd Team), All Star
averaged 23.5 ppg, 5.2 reb, 3.2 asst, 52.1 TS%

Jones’ perfect form when shooting a jump shot, along with his great clutch shooting led opponents to nickname him "The Shooter". At 6-foot-4, Jones was the prototype of the tall guard who could run the floor, bang the boards and had a rangy offensive game that gave opponents fits.
