What is cash for? Doesn't really make sense to use it...

Can I (Heat) buy out Haslem's current contract so he won't opt-in to his player option for next season and then re-sign him for the minimum for the rest of the year?

You have to have enough money for his ENTIRE contract plus 500,000.

And no you can't resign him right away.

"Entire Contract" = the salary he's still owed or that + the player option?

I think the guys that are cut mid game to get to roster levels - etc should go into a pool - or to the FA - so they can be claimed / bid on at prescribed times. I ti s an obvious advantage to old timers who constantly watch the game versus those who can only be around part time. It also leads to collusion - I will cut a guy and you can claim him n FA and we can make the rest of the deal work - Is a possible scenario - too late for this game but I would recommend in further games. Also - multipart deals that result in TPE that are used in a later part of the deal. Lot os way to circumvent the CBA in this game - INCLUDING not updating your salaries accurately.

In the FA thread I think you will see that offers need to stand for 12 hours

While that is true, most teams can only offer the minimum and you have to make a higher bid to get that player.

How are injured players counted in this league? When judging a player's value for this year are we to consider their real life games played or assume perfect health or case by case?

edit: To clarify, I'm talking about when judging other teams at the end of the season and for playoffs.

Consider how much of the season they have been injured.

For future seasons, I tend to deduct a little bit from players who are always injured (like Andrew Bynum or Varejao) or never 100% (like Eric Gordon). Obviously also factor in aging.

In terms of cap space for FA and cap holds for empty roster spots I only need to account for 12 total slots, not 15 right? I would like to confirm this prior to FA please.

Thanks. And I am assuming I can designate one player as the "designated player" and offer a 5 year deal starting at 25%(or 30 if they qualify) of the cap?
