I respect it. Both Wilt and Walton ended up on teams where the fit cuts into their value a bit.
The picks are totally justifiable for the teams that made them, but they also prevented those players from going places they would have fit even better.
You ending up with either would have probably been GG.

I wouldn't have ended up with either because I completely forgot about them.

I thought about Walton but totally forgot about Wilt. Otherwise would've taken Wilt

I thought about both but the relative lack of scoring made me decide otherwise in the 2nd round, and chances are they'd be gone by mid 3rd round anyway (I was right).

Re: Dikembe Mutombo Draft - Discussion
Yeah I was left with no optimal choices at C given the heavy emphasis on the fit of the C next to Giannis. Figured Walton was a bit cheaper and a bit less of a traditional C than other choices. He doesn’t have to operate strictly in the paint. Sure, he isn’t a 3 point shooter but he provides significantly higher value outside of the paint than any viable option left. And the talent is unquestioned. I have 3 MVPs to start my team. Bit scared of some franchises, but it’s a lot easier to fill in the gaps.

I know exactly who I'm going to pick - I highly doubt that Snake would consider him based on his lineup, and am excited to choose him for the first time.

thank you, sir. however since Dr P made his pick before yours, I believe that he is back up now (could be wrong, but go for it Doctor!)

It's funny how defensive drafting comes into play. I don't engage in it often, unless I felt that I was vying with a single person for that top spot above all others.

It’s a rare thing to see.
In this case I think it was justifiable. Wilt is pretty cheap and Embiid benefits from a high impact backup who can eat minutes. And Wilt’s Laker seasons don’t break the bank.

ABA Nets Barry is a nice catch if that’s what he was going for.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

He noted a rule about ABA eligibility just below the text for Category 8

I was desparate for a hyper competitive alpha and an excellent shooter. I never had the chance to pick him before so this felt like a nice time to roll the dice

Oh, no. I said I was having fun. Bully ball it is. Wilt passing from the high post and Embiid and KG devouring smaller forwards. They've demonstrated they're capable of covering them. Embiid is a threat out to three and KG is a mid-range killer. And they'll have post up opportunities. People gonna hate on it, though.
Very much agree Fade would be in great shape with Wilt or Walton. Rick Barry was a sleeper - never thought of him. Still a couple superstar-ish wings out there but not sure they'll be drafted.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Eh, I don't think that's worth passing on scarce perimeter talent in a draft where the center position is outrageously loaded. I'm not seeing any team that becomes OP by taking Wilt; I would probably have passed on him anyway because I needed a credible #2 option, and Lakers Wilt isn't that. He's not a great fit with Chuck. Maybe durantbird takes him, but it would hardly be a gamebreaker.
