I was so close to getting Penny and Draymond Green sigh....
still happy to get Draymond but almost went with another duo
My original pie in the sky idea was for Pippen to somehow drop. I thought that AD and Robinson would go to Fade and GeorgeMarcus, and that there was a SLIGHT chance he'd fall the rest of the way at that point. Unlikely but man it would have been perfect.
I pivoted to a more offensive approach with Penny when he didn't fall. Iggy was selected for extra wing defense- Draymond would have been a tad too expensive for me given he can easily be replaced by a cheaper player and I already drafted my starting front court.
I was pretty sure Penny would fall to you, really cheap fga wise and fits like a glove, gives you a secondary playmaker in the starting lineup that will free up Steph to do his offball magic. I thought you might have gone with Draymond because of proven fit and you could choose his cheap season in 2021 ( only 5.5 fga ) but with Penny and Iggy I guess you don't need Draymond's playmaking
I could have use Draymond's defense, but with Dwight it felt less urgent. I really needed another wing defender to address matchup issues though. Iggy fit the bill. He's kind of a poor man's Pippen.
If I'd known exactly how this was going to play out I may have taken Jalen Suggs instead of Rashard Lewis in round 1. That would have allowed me to take Draymond/Penny and have it be a more comfortable fit. On the other hand, like you said, I didn't REALLY need Draymond's playmaking, and Rashard gives me a third high volume 3 point shooter in the lineup.
Dwight/Rashard/Klay/Steph as my first 4 guys felt like it gave me a lot more freedom with that 5th starter though, and I had no way of knowing Dray/Penny would fall so far.
