Seems like a while since we did a regular cross-eras draft, and that would have been under the 90 FGA regime. 90s/10s could be fun.

How about your average age must be 20 years or less? Or conversely 34 years or more? We could weight the ages by minutes in the rotation to prevent people skewing it with very young or very old players playing just a few minutes.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

yes or no

I would say pairs with restrictions (one All-NBA First Team player per pair or something). Stretching it over a full eight rounds reduces the impact of the twist IMO.

I could start it before the 1st. After that, I'm pretty busy.

You can probably do signups now as the current draft is wrapping up. I could handle it if that's cutting it too close though.

Pairs draft where both players where taken with same draft pick (1 1st team per pair)

Some sort of one for every division draft. It's been a while since a draft had anything to do with divisions
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

What about all of your player seasons having to be from teams in the same division?

Could be some strategy in deciding whether to get into a weaker division or leave it to one or two people. Also there's some unpredictability with players like LeBron, KD, KG, etc who could conceivably be used for more than one division.

How about pair draft, age ranges. One pair 18-25, one 26-30, one 30-33, one 34-38

One all-NBA per pick, no FGA restrictions

I feel like would be pretty easy to just draft the players you want and simply use their younger or older versions

Another option would be to do pods such as a pair of players drafted 1st, 2-5, 6-10, 11-20, 21-30, or 31+. This would be less annoying than matching the players exactly but still have strategy,

FGA and years would change. Couldn’t take multiple all nba. Young Curry/KD weren’t great. This would definitely limit modern players

I like your original idea more. No wiggle room, we'd see new faces pop and there would be a lot of strategy. Just don't think the second idea would be as challenging or different.

I may start a ‘high speed’ draft for next Thursday night

No FGA or year restriction, 30 seconds to pick, 1 MVP, 1 1st 1 2nd 1 3rd
