Its not real money, so realism is essentially impossible.

Free agents will always be grossly overpaid in these games (other than true max-type free agents) for that simple reason. The incentives real teams have not to spend every penny available to them don't exist here.

One of the reasons I will never play in one of these games again.

I agree its quite annoying. I wound up overpaying for Dalembert last time because big men are always overpaid in these games. But giving Jason Thompson 72 million. Really? WTF. I think I am going to match that offer just out of spite. I don't think I'll be doing another one of these games either but for more than just this ridiculous overspending on free agents. For example, I think Restricted Free Agency has basically been used to blackmail teams into giving up real value for players that want to leave. Its blackmail.

JASON THOMPSON ACCEPTS PISTONS OFFER
The Pistons announced that Jason Thompson has accepted their offer - 5 Years for $70,399,212. The deal will pay Thompson $12,000,000 in 2012 with 8% raises each year -
$ 12,960,000 ’13; $13,996,800 ’14; $15,116,544 ’15; $ 16,325,828 in 2016.
There will be an ETO for Thompson after the 2014 season.
