Charlotte has resigned Thabo Sefelosha -

Year 1: $3,000,000
Year 2: $3,000,000
Year 3: $3,000,000 (player option)

We are committed to building a winner, and I think that Thabo can be a big part of that. He will be our primary backup at shooting guard and recieve minutes at small forward, in total it will be right around 20-24 minutes per game. We have lots of shooters around him which will help to cover some of his weaknesses, and we are set up for a monster off-season. The Bobcats will have about 35 million in cap space, after we factor in cap holds and signing our draft picks (1 pick will be high lottery, and one mid-first round). We will use that to sign at least one big-name free agent, and very likely two. Next year my depth chart may very well be the best in basketball, and one of the youngest. Thabo will have the chance to play under a coach (Larry Brown) who has turned players similar to him into great assets, guys who make 8 to 10 million a year; a prime example of this is Tayshuan Prince...

Timberwolves annouce the signing of Julian Wright and pick up the last 2 years remaining on his contract (This year $2,000,040, 10-11 $2,858,057) with part of the MLE that is still remaining. 5.84 - 2.8 from Redick = around $3 million left. We are glad to have Julian here and will give us much needed SF depth and will be the starter.

Confirmed - J Wright felt like this was a great place for him since he will be on a young team with plenty of minutes available.

Orlando and Dallas have a minor trade to announce

Orlando will send Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Orlando 2015 2nd to Dallas for nothing

Pops is a vet min player so salary is not needed (Dallas also had a TPE that would work if needed from the Jawai deal)

Pops did not fit into our plans and would get no minutes. Plus we really want the open roster spot to bring in a player that will contribute now.

Dallas accepts and is glad to get Pops back in a Mavs uniform where his career began.

Toronto, Sacramento, New Jersey, Oklahoma City have come to terms on a quick 4 way deal:

Toronto Trades:
Louis Williams $4,972,500
Glen Davis $2,500,000
Tim Thomas $1,352,181
Brian Skinner $1,352,181
Keith Bogans $1,141,337
Patrick O'Bryant $855,189
2010 SAC 2nd
for
Mehmet Okur $9,000,000
Rafer Alston $5,250,000

TOR Outgoing = $12.2M x 1.25 = $14.6 > $14.25

Sacramento Trades:
Mehmet Okur $9,000,000
for
Louis Williams $4,972,500
Glen Davis $2,500,000

Outgoing>Incoming, therefore trade works

New Jersey Trades:
Rafer Alston $5,250,000
for
Patrick O'Bryant $855,189
Keith Bogans $1,141,337
Tim Thomas $1,352,181
2010 SAC 2nd

Outgoing>Incoming, therefore trade works

Oklahoma City Trades:
TE (Created - minimum salary exception)/AKA nothing
for
Brian Skinner $1,352,181

Trade Works

Raptors accept, I'm working towards building the best team in the Eastern Conference, and my big depth with Daly/Okur/Bosh/Blair/Evans is looking pretty good after this deal. I don't really like Louis Williams and Alston can steady the ship at the backup PG position.

NJ accepts. We weren't planning on keeping Alston after this year, so picking up a 2nd is enough compensation to trade him.

Toronto and Dallas have come to a deal (simultaneously with my other deal):

Pops Mensah Bonsu $825,497
for
Nothing
TOR 2011 2nd

I like Pops, I needed a body, and Pops is better than the FAs on the market.

sac accepts, im sick of having okur on my roster and offering him to other teams. thats about the only reason i do this. o and I like glen davis a lot for 2.5 million. Williams is a great backup pg for me. and it drops me more below the cap once again :)

I was really glad to get Pops today but i need picks badly right now because im lacking in that department so i couldn't pass this up.

OKC accepts. We have a spare 3m TE created from our recent GS trade and Brian Skinner has a cool shaped head.

First, his 09 salary isn't able to be opted out of. The extension would be after that.
09-10 $6,466,600
10-11 3,000,000
11-12 3,500,000
12-13 3,000,000

Total: $15,966,600

I don't see how Jeffries would do this though?

Say he didn't opt out:
09-10 $6,466,600
10-11 $6,883,800

Total: $13,350,400

That's without the extra two years on the deal. He could work for the min and get paid more than that contract extension that he just signed.

If a player opts out, he can not do so untill the season is over. At that point he would be a FA and could not resign with his previous team for 30 days(I believe that is the limit)

gotta agree, you cant make a guy opt out and sign for less, else eddy curry will be next and sign an extension for 15 million for 6 years instead of 10 million for one year.

Bcortell & Mascot : Sorry I had the numbers wrong. With the current deal Jeffries would have made a guaranteed 13 million, but with the new deal he's set to make an additional 4 million. If he were in fact going to accept the league minimum as you suggested, he would make at most an additional 2 million. With the way things going now, those years may not have been guaranteed (See JJ Redick signing). Jeffries helps us out with our cap situation and we compensate him for doing so.

Sambone: I'm not completely aware of the 30 day rule. Are you referring to the rule concerning waived players instead?
