I think this game is iffy because we are diverting from the real NBA, yet events that happen in the NBA after the start of the game still affect the game. If we were playing a video game, it would be assume the differences. Of course I'm bitching big time because Yao went down hard, but other things, like the values of other players in the playoffs. If we aren't changing the cap, why are we changing the value of players in voting? If it's a game, outside events should be assumed to not have an effect in future GM games. I don't care about this one, I'm just saying what I think it should be.

I will be judging on how I thing players (teams) will be in 2010/2011 season. In my mind Yao will be fine my then, so I wouldn't hold that against him. For me, I will be down grading the really older players (Shaq, Nash, Duncan, Sheed, McDyesse, Peja guys llike that because in my mind heading into the 2010/2011 season those guys will be either retired or role players by then. I could be alone on this way of thinking, but my understanding is that we will be judging on how teams will be then. Considering guys like Griffen, Harden, Hill, DeRozen, Flynn and Curry will be heading into their second season and we will never even see them play a real game

Playing the game in a vacuum would be so boring though. Risk/reward are part of the fun. Sure there are a few deviations but this game has a pretty compressed timeframe so...

As for Yao in particular, dude was injury prone before the game started(Hell, you had 3 players on the roster listed as Yao insurance) so anyone making a trade for him would already have to take that into consideration before taking the risk of bringing him onboard. Same goes for all players with dubious injury histories. Arenas, T-Mac, Haywood, etc.

At least you got to trade Yao. Don't know why OKC has him listed as a starter at this point though. I know I when I vote I sure won't count Yao as any integral part of his team other than a large expiring.

When I vote, I'm going to vote as if Yao was as healthy as ever.

I don't know why anyone would consider Yao healthy when voting. Dude may be done. Plus no way would Houston trade a healthy Yao for RJ, and no way a healthy Yao does not opt out.

IMO it would be extremely unfair to Houston to now consider him healthy.

It would be a season and two off seasons. I think he'll recover by then. Now Dwight on the other hand, I will assume he has torn both his ACL's and is not playing.

The season we are just wrapping up is the season he is about to miss in it's entirety. He may be done for good or he may play sparingly.

and  at the Dwight comment.

Newly acquired Carter on the block, looking for more youth, specifically proven youth if possible because despite his age, I love his fit with my team in the starting lineup.

You are just making assumptions that he will never play again. The media is always going to blow things out of proportion. You assuming Yao will not play after this season is the same as him assuming Dwight is going to get hurt. I really don't think there are many people out there, who actually believe Yao will not play another NBA game in his life.

I am not assuming Yao is done for good just pointing out the possibility based on speculation. Odds are good that he won't play at all in the season we are about to complete and IMO odds are good that if he does make it back he will have recurring problems for whatever is left of his career. Dude does have a history...

One thing I will assume... Both Houston's GM and skorf figured him to be a huge health risk/question mark or he would not have opted in and then get traded for basically RJ. If it was assumed Yao would be healthy skorf would have recieved a slew of vetoes for that deal.

When it comes time for voting it will be after a season where Yao was out. Right now the notsonics have $30 mil tied up in Cs that have had or have foot problems/injury issues. That is kind of scary.

I hope Yao does make it back eventually, Big Z did so... :dontknow:
