Oh, I'll also offer my Realgm email to people here.

artiethestrongest@gmail.com

Should you find that you won't be around to make your pick (especially if you live in a non-peak time zone like Europe) I encourage you to make use of this since we ARE running on a North American centric clock here.

Send a list of possible picks to that address and I can make your selection for you. Make sure you have enough backups.

I apologize for being tardy. I had no idea this was starting, otherwise I would have notified someone that I would be absent this weekend.

Steve Nash is my selection. It's hard to pass up the league MVP. 15.5/11.5 on 50% shooting and led his team to the best record in the NBA. He stepped it up in the playoffs, doing 23/11 and taking his team to the WCF where they lost to the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs.

the Boned Samuels will select ........

Image

Dirk Nowitzki
26 ppg, 10 reb, 3 asst, 1.5 blk, 46 % from the field, 40% from 3, 1st Team All NBA, 3rd in MVP voting

It was really a difficult decission but we think with where we draft in the 2nd round we needed a BIG since their will be a ton of wing players in round 2. Dirty is our "chosen one", I am a huge fan and have never built a tea,m around him, so I will give it a try!

Time to start.

With our own selection, we are VERY pleased to select Tracy McGrady.

I'd like to normally classify myself as someone that isn't a homer, and a person that generally lets his bias out of the way in arguments. Over the past couple of years, I've come to sort of dislike McGrady despite what my still-unchanged moniker says, but it's undeniable, when McGrady came to Houston in 04-05, he became my favorite player, and honestly the player that got me into the addiction of basketball that I have today. And in this particular season, McGrady was undeniably one of the best players in the NBA, and just as good as Kobe Bryant.

His averages of 25.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 5.7 APG put him in an elite status of only three players that season to have achieved such a mark (25/5/5) - while being the only player of the bunch to actually make the playoffs. And while his stats being gaudy, it doesn't tell the full story of how he averaged 20 PPG on under 40% shooting the first month of the season - meaning 26.8/6.4/5.9 the rest of the way. It also doesn't mention he played some of the best defense of his career that season, often times being put on the opponents best player (pre-Battier). Take it for what its worth, but McGrady in this particular season finished in the Top 5 for DWS and 16th in DRTG. And for a player of his magnitude, he's surprisingly careful with the ball, Jeff Van Gundy was once quoted as saying McGrady was the second best passer in the NBA behind Steve Nash. Granted I don't agree with that statement, it's a testament to his court vision, and ability to reduce on his mistakes.

He may have lost in the first round, but his performance was arguably the best playoff outing of his career. He did 30/7/7 on 45% against the Mavericks, while also taking the task of guarding Dirk Nowitzki, and holding him to 35% shooting on the series. It was Dirk who was neutralized, unfortunately for us, Terry would go on to kill us, and eventually oust us from the playoffs. He would also play 78 games this season, so health is not an issue.

Nonetheless, McGrady has a legitimate argument as being the top wing this particular year, and we're absolutely ELATED to have him on our team.

Let me take you back 5 years.

His bald spot was smaller, his legs were quicker, and his playoff performances, well, they spoke for themselves.

I'm proud to select All-Star, energy guy, and terrific all around player MANU GINOBILI.

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL

Second in MVP voting, 1st team All NBA, lead the league in FG% and averaged a cool 21/11 with a league leading FG% in the process, while at the same time swatting 2 blocks per game and being absolutely integral to one of the league's elite defenses.

Dwyane Wade

Still young, but a 2nd team All-NBA and All-Defense caliber player who could take over games and proved himself in the playoffs.

I'm going JO. He'll provide an offensive option in the low post and a defensive anchor in the paint. 24/9 on the season with over 2 blocks. Reasonably more efficient than the previous season, in which he finished Top 3 in MVP voting.

Good scorer, good floor leader. And still produced well when his team acquired other talented players to surround him.

I pick:

Super underrated nowadays, he was most definitely a dominant player back in the day. Yes, he shot **** percentages in Philly but that was with a supporting cast that was inept offensively. With my team he has Yao freakin Ming. Besides, I plan to slowwwwww the game and Iverson has experience in that sort of a tempo.
