Analysis
Goals
Orlando's cap situation was horrible. With no second star next to Dwight, no real trade assets, a $94m salary with a $27m luxury tax bill on top of that, no cap space until 2013... and realistically no chance of a championship. My goal was simple - to cut as much cost as possible, making the team financially flexible going into the new CBA, whilst still being a deep playoff team. Mission accomplished - as it stands right now I think I can make the ECF at least, and have a realistic shot at luring Deron Williams from the salty lake next summer.
Starters
Collectively, it could be argued my starting lineup is the most efficient in the league. Four shot above 50% (!) in their most recent season. From behind the arc, I have arguably the best shooter ever in Allen, and one of the best 3pt shooting PG's in Nelson - paired with Dwight, it's a great fit. Meanwhile West's solid mid-range game and improving efficiency are the perfect compliment to Dwight, and Hill's late-career rejuvination as an efficient point forward and hard working defender mean this team is exceptionally well balanced, and smart. Defensively, I'll be the best in the NBA.
Add to that, the continuous improvement of Dwight's offensive game, and I'll be exploiting my rivals all day long with a lovely inside-out game. And with only one ring between them, these guys will be hungry for success - no complacency here.
Dwight Howard - age: 25 - 21.7 points (59%), 13.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks in 36 mpg
David West - age: 30 - 19 points (51%), 7.2 rebounds, 1 block in 35 mpg
Grant Hill - age: 38 - 14.4 points (51.7%), 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists in 30 mpg
Ray Allen - age: 36 - 17.5 points (51.2% / 47.3%), 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists in 36 mpg
Jameer Nelson - age: 29 - 13.1 points (44.3% / 40%), 6.7 assists, 1 steal in 30 mpg
Key Bench
My bench is designed purely to exploit the space provided by Dwight - shooters. Jones, Lee and Neal are all over 40% from 3, and Orlando's system is a perfect fit. With 5 players capable of scoring double-digits from beyond the arc I'm the best 3pt shooting team in the league, bar none.
James Jones - age: 30 - 6.7 points (42.5% / 42%), 2.3 rebounds in 21 mpg
Courtney Lee - age: 25 - 7.3 points (43.2% / 41%), 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists in 19 mpg
Gary Neal - age: 25 - 8.7 points (42.6% / 39.6%), 2.7 rebounds, 1 assist in 19 mpg
The Future
My franchise is perfectly positioned to add another max level free agent in 2012. No. 1 aim: Deron Williams. With Dirk/Kobe, Rose/LeBron, Wade/Amar'e, CP3/Melo, Westbrook/Durant already teamed up, Deron and Dwight will be hungry to beat them in 2012, and Orlando is attractive enough to make that happen. Deron/Lee/Hill/West/Dwight - just a pipe dream?

Timeline
Key players, 2009-2010 - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Andrei Kirilenko, CJ Miles, Mehmet Okur
A team without direction: At the beginning of the game I had three goals in mind for the Jazz. (1) Improve the bench, (2) improve the shooting guard position, (3) position Utah as a championship contender. I made these goals because of a particular set of flaws that the Jazz have, one being that they are a poor rebounding team, another being that the bench play is extremely inconsistent, and the other that outside of Deron Williams the back-court produced nothing.
Key Players, 2009-10 all-star break - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Stephan Jackson, Andrei Kirilenko, Elton Brand, Brad Miller
Championship contender: The Jazz were now championship contenders with a potent offense and an improved defense. The loss of CJ Miles and Mehmet Okur would be felt, but the addition of Stephan Jackson in the starting lineup more than made up for the loss. With things sured up in the back-court and a significantly improved bench the Jazz looked poised to make a run to the NBA finals.
Key Players, 2010-11 off-season - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Stephan Jackson, Andrei Kirilenko, Elton Brand, Brad Miller, Chuck Hayes
Improving the bench: The Jazz were in need of an improvement to their bench and another defender to help Jefferson, Brand and Millsap in the middle. Enter Chuck Hayes, one of the NBA's best post defenders. A teammate once said of Hayes "3/4 of the world is covered by water, the rest is covered by Chuck Hayes." Utah hoped they finally had that "ace-in-the-hole" type player and entered the season with high hopes that Hayes would vault them above the Milwaukee Bucks in the race for the championship.

Direction
When I took over the Spurs, I saw a team that had a year maybe two left with Tim Duncan where the Spurs would be competitive. Given the level of talent in the West, I figured that the Spurs would have a tough time escaping the West and then having to deal with the East's best, so I decided a rebuild was in order. The Spurs lacked any long term players that were under contract for cheap, so it was imperative I got players still on their rookie contracts. Evan Turner and Terrence Jones are my future cornerstone pieces, and we believe they'll work together extremely well on the wing. We like our big man depth as well as our guard rotation. We've got a nice mix of a veterans and youth that will actually allows us to compete for a roster spot.
